The Overnight Chosen Wife: Darling, Kiss Me Deeper

Chapter 1 - The face of the drowning girl

"Help!"

"Save me!"

Someone was drowning. The girl ran towards the lake as fast as she could. The more she ran, the longer the distance seemed to be.

She had to get to the bridge...she really had to.

She was tired, her legs were hurting.

"Save me!"

"Help me, Lanni!"

The voice became lower and more muffled.

She finally arrived on the bridge but just as she was about to jump in, she could no longer hear the voice.

The night was dark. Could she really just blindly jump in? If she could not get that person in the vast lake, she could possibly drown together with them.

She made a countdown and was prepared to jump in regardless.

Suddenly, a beam of light from nowhere flashed by and she saw a hand waving far away. What made her freeze was not that the person had been swept farther away by the tide, but that face!

The beam of light shone in her direction and glaringly hit her face like an explosion.

"Ah!" She screamed but produced no sound.

The beam still shining on her, she squinted her eyes before trying to open them slowly, adjusting to the brightness.

Inside a VIP hospital room, a beautiful girl lay on the bed. She was so beautiful that the numerous tubes on her body were not able to conceal her beauty and charm.

She had been lying in that same position for a ridiculously long time.

Slowly, she tried to open her yes but the light must have been too bright, she closed them again.

She waited a few seconds and flattered her long eyelashes slowly before they opened little by little, it was a beautiful sight to watch.

"Lanni!" Someone in the room screamed.

The girl on the bed was dazed as she looked at the person who screamed. It was a young lady, slightly older than the one on the bed and she was wearing a red dress.

"Doctor! Come quickly! Lanni is awake!"

Lanni? That name again.

She seemed to have heard it in her dream just now. Who was that?

Very soon, the girl on the bed saw the room get invaded with people dressed in white.

They checked her pulse, removed the uncomfortable tubes that were stuck to her body and talked to the lady who had shouted "Lanni" just now.

"She's fine. She'll need great care and some time to recuperate fully." The girl on the bed heard one of those people say.

What was happening? Who were those strange people? Were they doctors?

They left the room and the lady in red ran to her bed. "Lanni, you're really awake. I was so worried." she cried.

"Who are you?" She asked with some difficulty.

The lady stopped sobbing and looked at her with wide eyes. "Lanni you...you don't remember me? But the doctors said you would not lose your memory. How did this happen?" She cried and ran off to find a doctor.

Minutes later, she got really bored as a doctor came in to examine her again.

"She did not lose her memory, she is just dazed after waking up from such a long coma." he said.

Indeed, her mind was somehow muddled. She could hear them but could understood just a portion of what they were saying.

"What's a coma?" She asked with a lot of difficulty. Her throat was really hurting.

The lady asked the doctor to give her some water then she explained to her. "Coma is the state you were in just now. It means you were asleep for a very long time."

"A very long time, like two days?"

"Six months."

Six months! She was so shocked that she almost fell right back into coma.

The lady carefully held her hand. "Lanni, I'm your sister-in-law, Ji Feifei"

"Who is Lanni?" She remembered to ask.

Ji Feifei spaced out. This type of temporary amnesia was rather...unique. Still, she took a deep breath and answered. "You are Lanni. Your name is Li Lanni."

Li Lanni. That name did sound familiar.

Subconciously, she touched her face and hair.

It felt just the same as she remembered it.

"Do you need a mirror?" Ji Feifei asked.

Li Lanni had fallen into comma after a tragic car accident. Maybe she was worried that she had been disfigured.

Ji Feifei opened her bag and took out a pocket mirror, holding it before her face.

Li Lanni looked at the girl in the mirror and frowned. She did not have amnesia. This was her face just as she very clearly remembered it.

However, why was it strikingly similar to the one of that girl who was screaming in her dream?

Now that she thought about it, she had had that dream for the past heaven knows how long, but this was the first time she had seen the face of the drowning girl. And it was her face?! Was she the one who was drowning? But she had called out to Lanni, and Ji Feifei said that she was Li Lanni. She couldn't have called herself, could she?

What in the world was that all about?
