Chapter 93 Viper Mark I

The curtain of night had fallen and silence had descended on Hell’s Kitchen.

Driving a car, Leo went all the way back to his house.

Earlier when Leo passed by a corner, Foggy had bid farewell to Leo before driving his car home. Foggy was a native of Hell’s Kitchen and he knew how to protect himself from harm. In addition, the entire Hell’s Kitchen had been swiped clean by Bucky, so Leo wasn’t concerned about Foggy’s safety.

Reaching the entrance of his house, Leo let Bucky off the car before watching Bucky dragging Ol’ Tom out of the car trunk.

Visibly, Ol’ Tom hammered since he had yet woken up. Dragging Ol’ Tom’s collar, Bucky headed into the house. Leo rolled down the car window as he saw the two of them entering the house before turning around and directly returning to the El Tech Company.

Today, Leo received two heaven-defying technologies from Otto. For a mechanic like him, these two technologies were like a succubus enticing him. How was it possible for him to have a tight sleep at night?!

Besides, with Leo’s current physical constitution, a sleep of three to four hours was enough for him to be up and running for an entire day. Therefore, to make full use of his precious time, every night Leo would burn the midnight oil. Either he was extracting the Mechanical Force, developing new machinery, or upgrading Steam.

What’s the point of sleeping when there’s tons of fun stuff to do?!

After casually greeting the guard, Violet Fist, Leo entered the office.

In the basement of El Building, followed by the beeping noises, the safety hatch opened and Leo strode into the pitch-black laboratory. The next moment, the laboratory automatically brightened up followed by a crispy child-like voice.

“Buzz! Master, welcome back! Steam is at your service!”

A ball-shaped robot with a caterpillar track, in the center of the lab, was jiggling its cylindrical head while enthusiastically greeting Leo.

“Steam, start up your model simulation module, we got work to do.”

Opening his system panel, one by one, blueprints appeared in front of Leo followed by a mini 3D model. Without taking a glance, the model would naturally emerge in Leo’s mind as long as he willed it. He could use a God-like perspective to observe every crook and cranny of the model.

However, these models were rigid as Leo couldn’t do any calculations or modifications to them. So, he required Steam’s assistance.

Pulling a chair, Leo sat in front of a self-made computer next to the workbench. As his fingers danced, the relevant data of the ‘Nuclear Microreactor’ and ‘Intracranial Transmission Helmet’ were swiftly inputted by Leo.

“Buzz! Blueprints acquired! Building models…”

On the screen, 3D models appeared with countless complex data on them. Controlling the models, Leo rotated, zoomed, and meticulously observed the models, noticing they were the same as the models provided by the system.

As Leo picked the model of the ‘Nuclear Microreactor’, he instructed, “Steam, disassemble the model!”

Next, the model was quickly broken into components. Initially, Leo needed to draw the blueprints before manually breaking them down into components. Now, with the help of Steam, he saved countless amounts of time.

All he needed to do right now was to double-check the components, confirming the accuracy of the model.

“Create a new project, name it Nuclear Microreactor, and label it as a power source. Import the current blueprint. Estimated number of manufacturing targets, one. List out the materials required!” After making sure the model components were correct, Leo gave an order to Steam.

“Buzz! Project created. List of materials completed. Cross-checking with the warehouse right now. Buzz! Cross-checking completed, 58% of materials absent. The list is as follows.”

A list of materials appeared on the screen and the first label was the essential material of the Nuclear Microreactor, Uranium!

“Steam, print out the list in Ol’ Tom’s office and have him buy it as soon as he arrives tomorrow. The sooner the better.”

“Buzz! Successfully connected to the printer. Preparing to print!”

A sudden idea popped into Leo’s mind before he hurriedly stopped Steam, “Steam, delete the Uranium on the list. Even Ol’ Tom has no way to purchase one. Besides, you need to learn more to improve your analysis and judgment. Such an obvious mistake, make sure not to do it again.”

Uranium was something Leo prepared to purchase through Otto. Since Otto was coming to El Building tomorrow, he was going to mention this to Otto. Leo was convinced as long as there was enough money, everything wasn’t an issue.

“Buzz! Alright, master. The list has been printed out and Uranium has been deleted.” Listening to Steam’s saddened voice, Leo almost chuckled.

Meanwhile, the printer in Ol’ Tom’s office was rattling before spitting out a piece of A4 paper. The entire El Building was more and more automated and everything was controlled by the powerful artificial intelligence, Steam.

With the building’s current standard of technology, it was miles ahead of current civilian-used technology.

Looking at the screen, half of the materials in the list had a red cross on them. Leo understood the progress of the Nuclear Microreactor could only reach here for the moment as he needed to wait for the arrival of other materials before being able to continue.

Repeating the same process, the related blueprints of the ‘Intracranial Transmission Technology’ were created into a new project folder. However, the materials related to this technology were severely lacking, so Leo printed out a couple of lists again for Ol’ Tom.

When the following day arrived, Steam would automatically urge Ol’ Tom to purchase them. Without the essential materials, Leo couldn’t create any physical items.

But this didn’t prevent Leo from building a brand new armor model.

“Steam, rename the project ’Big Hunky Armor’ to ‘Viper Mark I’ and remove the energy module. Revise the project objectives to be flexible, lightweight, assault, and decimate.”

The Big Hunky Armor was the one mentioned armor earlier that used Miniature Highly-compressed Battery as its power source.

It had been created by Leo but now it was gathering dust in a corner of Leo’s laboratory.

Due to the armor requiring enormous power to sustain it, the area of the battery covered was also enormous. Ultimately, the armor had a beer belly and was deemed horrendously ugly by Steam.

“Buzz! Renaming completed. Energy module removed.”

As soon as Steam voiced out, the relevant 3D models were immediately displayed and gradually rotated. After removing the battery packs on the beer belly and the back, the Big Hunky Armor… No, the Viper Mark I had become slimmer.

Leo manually reconfigured the model and left a space for the Nuclear Microreactor in advance. In tribute to Iron Man, Leo naturally placed the energy source on the chest.

However, the Nuclear Microreactor was a black block of metal, unlike the vibrant and dazzling Palladium Arc Reactor. For Leo, it didn’t matter at all since he was going to place light emitters on the chest.

Half of it was the Frost Stone and another half was the Heat Stone like a mandarin duck pot, split into two.

……

After working for some time, Leo finally completed the configuration of Viper Mark I’s blueprint.

Leo placed his gaze on the dust-gathering Big Hunky Metal in a corner after completing the blueprint. Being conscious of the preciousness of time, Leo could build the framework of the Viper Mark I right now despite lacking the essential materials and being unable to manufacture the energy and control module.

The process of building the framework was relatively easier since he had experienced making one for the Big Hunky Armor. And Viper Mark I’s framework was improved based on the Big Hunky Armor’s original framework.

Thus, Leo chose to begin immediately and focused his attention on the dust-gathering Big Hunky Armor. He could disassemble this big guy and revamp its framework’s structure, giving birth to the framework of the Viper Mark I soon enough.

Clink! Clink! Clank! Clank!

Bang! Bang! Clatter! Clatter!

Sizzle! Sizzle! Pop! Pop!

Hong! Hong! Boom! Boom!

Next to Leo were the components he had taken apart from the armor after hammering away for two hours but the revamping process hadn’t reached even 10%.

This speed caused Leo to be quite helpless. Despite having the support of the instrument, some precise controls were still required he carried out with his hands.

With just two hands, it was impossible for the efficiency to increase.

After toiling for two hours, Leo was bone-tired and he had already removed his cloth while sweating profusely.

Humans weren’t a machine, rest was still necessary after working for an extended period.

Dispersing his Mechanical Force, Leo sat on the ground immediately. Simultaneously, various tools that were floating around him due to the Mechanical Force with clinks and clanks, dropped like a sack of potatoes.

Looking at the Viper Mark I before him, Leo plopped on the ground like a deflated balloon while grumbling, “If only I can be like Sun Wukong! It’s fine having three heads, having three pairs of arms right now would be useful.”
