Chapter 44 Hot-tempered Black Bear

Leo was puzzled when he heard some movements from the second floor and the noise was getting louder.

During the time Leo and Bucky were spying on the police, the group of police did not step into Pure Love Bar once and were only roaming at its entrance.

By the time Leo saw the police escorting a group of people out of the Nightmare Bar, he had thought the police had long ago taken care of the Pure Love Bar, and the Black Bear Gang had long since been escorted away.

However, now it seemed that the situation was not what Leo thought. Could it be that the people of the Black Bear Gang had even colluded with the police?

Leo brought Bucky to the second floor of the bar based on his memories. The duo quietly walked up the stairs and gradually heard the voices upstairs clearly.

“Brother Barno, the cops are gone. We’re safe now. As expected from the boss, after he spoke to the detective, the cops really believed that we were innocent and only took the Poison Wolf Gang. All of us stayed on the second floor and surprisingly no cops came up to check.”

“Erby, are you an idiot? Clearly, that detective had a private agreement with our boss, okay? I’ve told you to use your head or else you someday may die because of your stupidity.”

The black thin youth called Erby quickly answered “Yes” and was ordered by Barno to prepare to look out at the first floor’s stairs.

Leo and Bucky were hiding at the corner of the stairs. They held their breath while listening to Erby getting closer. Just as Erby turned to the corner, Leo immediately reached out and wrapped his hand around Erby’s neck, while covering his mouth.

As Erby was whimpering in fear, Leo smacked at the back of his head. Leo was unable to control his fist strength but Erby seemed to be unconscious anyway.

Leo and Bucky silently crept along the stairs heading to the second floor. They did not meet anyone else and safely reached the second floor.

Leo noiselessly probed at the lobby of the second floor and finally knew why no one else was guarding the stairs.

There were at least twenty people in the second-floor lobby. They stood in a circle and in the middle of the circle was a burly black man sitting on a sofa.

In front of the burly black man, Barno was using a piece of rope to tie the hands of a naked mixed-blood woman and he was preparing to hang her up.

The mouth of the mixed-blood woman was stuffed with a rag and she was whimpering. She looked terrified as she clamped her legs and struggled to sway from side to side.

However, her strength was incomparable to Barno’s. In the end, her hands were tied tightly by Barno. The rope went over a ceiling light mount hanging from the ceiling and raised her straight up until she could barely tip-toed.

With the mixed-blood woman’s body being displayed in this position, all of the people’s attention was focused on the woman’s body. Thus, no one bothered to guard the entrance of the stairs.

The mixed-blood woman was a bit familiar to Leo. He recalled for a bit and remembered she was the woman who came out of Ol’ Tom’s room naked when Leo went to look for Ol’ Tom.

At that time, she even gave Barno, Leo and Bucky a flying kiss each. Leo still remembered her name, was it, Polly?

Pa! There was a sound of someone being whipped. After Barno hung Polly, he picked the whip by the side and viciously whipped Polly’s body.

Barno with the whip in his hand pointed at Polly and cursed, “Polly, you b*tch, you dare double-cross us! Speak, why did you collude with the Poison Wolf Gang?”

Polly’s mouth was stuffed with a rag and whimpered till tears flowed down. Barno ruthlessly whipped at her again before pulling out the rag in Polly’s mouth.

Just as Polly spoke, she ignored the ferocious Barno with the whip in his hand. Instead, she struggled to turn her body to face the burly black man who sat on the sofa.

“Boss Black Bear, I beg you to let me go. I really was momentarily confused and was bribed by the Poison Wolf Gang. I will never again dare to… Ah!”

Barno whipped at Polly again out of the blue. Before Polly could finish speaking, she screamed in pain.

The burly black man who was sitting on the sofa evilly grinned at Polly and said, “You still wished for again? Polly, although your skills in bed are good and can make some money for Black Bear Gang. However, what I, Black Bear, hated the most is betrayal. That’s way, you have no more again!”

“Boss Black Bear, I beg you please don’t kill me. I’m still young, I can still work, I can earn money for you in the future for the rest of my life.”

But Black Bear was not affected at all. He lifted his burly body from the sofa and took the whip from Barno. He slowly approached Polly.

Polly was frightened to the point she could not even cry out. She stared at Black Bear with her mouth widened while gasping.

Just as Polly was about to be tormented, Leo’s voice came from the entrance of the stairs all of a sudden.

“I guess you’re Black Bear Gang’s boss, I happen to be looking for you. My matter is rather urgent, so can you put down the work on your hand first?”

Black Bear turned his huge body towards the stairway and saw Leo and Bucky standing there. Leo had a smiley face with a slightly apologetic look while Bucky had a cold expression that looked like a bodyguard.

Polly saw the duo as if they were the last straw of hope. She frantically shouted, “This two mister, please save me! They want to kill me, please help me call the cops!”

However, Leo did not even pay any attention to her. Leo interrupted Black Bear tormenting Polly not because trying to save her but purely because he did not want to see the tragic scene.

Barno’s expression turned ugly when he saw Leo and Bucky. He even forgot to ask how the two of them appeared at the stairway.

Barno hurriedly whispered a few words to Black Bear’s ear. After Black Bear heard it, his expression immediately turned solemn.

Black Bear was silent for a moment before speaking in a deep voice to Leo and Bucky, “These two brothers are the ones who killed Poison Wolf, right? The two of you helped Black Bear Gang eliminate an enemy of us. I, Black Bear, would like to thank both of you first. However, didn’t both of you refuse to work with us? My brothers and I had already wiped out the Poison Wolf Gang. What’s the meaning of both of you returning now?”

At this point, everyone’s gaze was focused on Leo and Bucky. Leo sized up all the twenty-plus people and did not see Crow and Monkey among them.

Thus Leo was unsure whether the two who stole his things had brought them back to the bar or were still stealing outside.

Leo pondered for a bit before directly saying to Black Bear, “Black Bear, don’t worry. Since I have no intention of meddling with the affairs of your two gangs and still won’t now. I’m not here to rob the benefits on your hand. I came to your Black Bear Gang at this time because there are two thieves called Monkey and Crow in your gang who took something they shouldn’t have taken. I don’t know if Black Bear saw them both tonight?”

Black Bear as a boss of a gang usually was the bully. Now Leo had a questioning tone without much emotion and his words did not leave any respect for Black Bear. Faced with Leo’s arrogance and the fact that Black Bear had not seen the ferocity of Leo and Bucky with his own eyes. 

Black Bear was unsurprisingly furious when he said, “You two do not seem to get the situation clear, right?! This is Hell’s Kitchen, all things are ownerless. If you get it, it’s called skills. There’s no steal here, only take! Moreover, do you two still dare to ask for someone in my face? Where’s Ol’ Tom in my bar? He is a person who can bring me a large amount of income every year, where have you hidden him? I haven’t had the time to look for you but now you two came knocking on the door!”

Black Bear’s sudden outburst made the atmosphere of the entire second-floor tense. But Leo remained calm, he instantly determined the two thieves Monkey and Crow had yet to return to the bar based on Black Bear’s word.

Or else with Black Bear’s hot-tempered and greed-for-money personality, he would immediately open fire at Leo and Bucky when he heard Leo was trying to get back the things that include a box of jewelry.
