Chapter 167 Hank Pym’s Astonishing Countermeasures

Like El Tech Company, Pym Technologies also had a private underground laboratory that only Dr. Pym could access. Within the lab, there were countless color test tubes and containers, as well as several computer monitors.

During the day, Dr. Pym would spend his time upstairs dealing with matters regarding the company and at night, he would study the Pym Particles in the lab. To achieve his purpose, he was putting in tons of effort as it was already midnight, yet he was still awake and busy working.

In front of a workbench, Dr. Pym, in his glass, was concentrating on designing a blueprint with several books regarding quantum mechanics scattered to his right. The blueprint was still incomplete, but he already had a name for it. It was called the Quantum Tunnel.

All of a sudden, an alarm in the lab began flashing as a beeping noise was ringing. Dr. Pym’s heart shook momentarily and he immediately halted his work and hastily headed toward the computer next to the alarm. This alarm was directly connected to his residence in the coastal area. The fact that this alarm was flashing meant something had occurred in his house!

His hands flurried on the keyboard and swiftly brought up the surveillance footage caught by the mini-cams he hid on the crazy ants. Then, he witnessed the scene where Leo fired an energy cannon, demolishing the crazy ant.

Moreover, from another footage, he saw that the Carbondale Vault was unlocked. His brows scrunched as he was baffled. The man in the black weird armor was powerful. Not only was he able to silently bypass the alarm, but he also successfully cracked all the security measures. It was unbelievable.

If it wasn’t for Dr. Pym’s persistently setting up the “If the vault was opened without his permission, the hidden crazy ants will trigger the alarm.” alarm mode beforehand, Leo might have emptied his residence, and he wouldn’t even realized it!

At the moment, Dr. Pym was extremely confused, ‘Who the hell is this person? Why is he stealing my stuff? Is it a premeditated plan or a spur of the moment?’

Although he had no answers to these questions, he knew the mysterious man in the footage was an enemy. On top of that, his Ant-Man suit was about to be robbed. Thinking of this, he pressed the red button next to him and an electrical signal traversed to his residence, activating the countermeasures he prepared.

Meanwhile, after Leo finished off the headless crazy ant, he was prepared to search the Carbondale Vault for the Ant-Man suit. Suddenly, two giant black ants abruptly appeared before him with their sharp mandibles wide open, charging at his head.

These ants are called bullet ants and are the powerhouse under Ant-Man in the movie. On top of that, their bite is famous for being extremely powerful and painful. And now they were enlarged by the Pym Particles, a single bite of theirs would make one suffer excruciating pain.

The bullet ants were very close to Leo and their sudden appearance caused him to be unable to react in time. In an instant, the two ants crunched his head. Fortunately, Viper Mark V’s head was made of Vibranium and was extremely tough. Not only did the ants fail to crush his head, but their mandibles were also snapped in half instead.

Leo finally took action. With an uppercut from each of his hands, the ants were immediately smashed by him and green liquid splattered all across the floor. Letting out a long breath, he subconsciously patted his chest. The situation just now had scared him.

Two alien-like horrendous mouths suddenly popped up right next to him, going to bite his head, and managed to do so! It was just like a horror movie, who would remain calm facing this?!

But before Leo could completely calm down, a yellow crazy ant abruptly appeared behind him and slammed its head on his back, knocking him stumbling forward. Simultaneously, as if the basement laboratory was a dungeon in the game, two red fire ants and black bullet ants instantly spawned.

The two bullet ants frantically charged at Leo while the fire ants didn’t. Instead, the fire ants gripped the ground tightly with six of their legs and lowered their heads, exposing the hot weapons on their backs.

That crazy Dr. Pym actually installed heavy machine guns on these two fire ants’ backs?!

The sudden emergence of the five ants was coordinated remarkably. Just as Leo was knocked by the crazy ant, the two bullet ants blocked his vision and at his blind spots, the fire ants fired at the same time.

Unable to dodge in time, the heavy machine guns’ bullets pierced the bullet ants, instantly hitting him squarely.

“D*mn! The firepower is too heavy!”

The endless rain of bullets caused Viper Mark V to clank and the momentum behind the bullets forcefully knocked Leo backward. However, within three seconds, he activated Vibranium Defensive Rune. A faint blue barrier appeared right away and he finally stabilized his body.

Swiftly raising his right leg, he back kicked the crazy ant behind him, crushing it. Then, he aimed his hands and fired the energy cannons, blasting the fire ants in front of him straight away before the heavy machine guns’ rampage finally halted.

Finally, the lab turned silent as no more ants spawned. Leo scanned the wrecked lab and sighed internally, ‘Stealing Hank Pym’s suit is not a walk in the park.’

The countermeasures left behind by Pym were too astonishing. If it wasn’t Leo in the armor here and instead was Bucky, Bucky would hold a grudge against this place. And now a huge commotion occurred in the lab, the police would be here anytime soon. Unwilling to waste any more time, he rushed toward the Carbondale Vault.

This time, no monster suddenly spawned to stop him. He reached to open the vault. However, when he gazed into the vault, the wooden table in the middle of the vault was empty. According to his memory, the Ant-Man suit should be on top of the table, yet it was not there!

The stunned Leo hurriedly examined other stuff in the vault. On the left side of the vault was a wooden rack and on it were a dozen glass bottles with a blue liquid in them. Similarly, there was another wooden rack on the right side, and on it were several blueprints with the drawing of a helmet and a suit. 

He was over the moon. If he wasn’t mistaken, then on the left were pre-made Pym Particles, and on the right was the Ant-Man suit’s blueprint. Although the suit wasn’t in the vault, his objective was achieved with these two items. It was worth the trip.

But not obtaining the suit made Leo’s heart somewhat empty and felt something was wrong.

‘Maybe Hank Pym didn’t hide the suit in the vault, but somewhere else?! But that’s highly unlikely! Since the precious Pym Particles and blueprints are here, why would the suit be kept separately?!’

All of a sudden,  a light bulb lit in Leo’s mind as he promptly activated Mechanical Force – Insight.

As expected, under the special Mechanical Force Vision, the energy source in the Ant-Man was akin to fireflies in the dark, flickering with an eye-catching glow and drawing a beautiful arc in midair. But the arc was flying toward the door and was at a high speed.

Leo raised his hand and fired a web. With a yank, the escaping Ant-Man suit was yanked back. Dispersing the Mechanical Force Vision, he stared at the ball of webs in his palm.

Within the webs was a winged ant frantically struggling and on its back was a humanoid suit that was slightly larger than a sesame seed. It turned out the suit was shrunk to the size of an ant and was carried by a carpenter ant, attempting to escape from the lab.

If it wasn’t for Leo being smart, the ant might really escape! Pulling the ball of webs with his index finger, he squished the flying carpenter ant to death. He didn’t wish to see another huge mouth suddenly biting him again.

Now, the tiny Ant-Man suit was right before his eyes. Looking at the wooden rack with Pym Particles, he pondered for a bit before circulating the Mechanical Force and activating Mechanical Force Analysis.

He was unwilling to let go of the Pym Particles, but he was wearing the armor and it was inconvenient for him to carry them. Therefore, he intended to analyze the Ant-Man suit first. Then, he would enlarge the suit, stash the tubes of Pym Particles into it, and shrink the suit again before taking everything away with him.

Due to the time constraint, so he decided if he couldn’t analyze the suit within three minutes, then he would immediately take it away. As for the pre-made Pym Particles, there was still at least one more tube of it in the suit. After he analyze the formula, he could create it himself. So, giving up on the pre-made ones wasn’t an issue.
