The God's Throne

Chapter 17 - Mask of the noble

Eria's body jolted as he glanced upon his new class. Squinting his eyes, he peeped from the top of the class to the bottom, to find people of perfection with looks of haughtiness. However, he felt disgusted as he saw the vanity on their faces as they glanced at his clothes.

He couldn't handle the looks in their faces; it was infuriating and insulting. With all that said, he couldn't cause a commotion nor commit a crime. The only person he was close within the academy was Auo, which was more unfortunate than having a friend. He didn't have any backing, so if he were to cause trouble, he would be expelled. He needed resources and information, so he couldn't afford to be dismissed.

"Class, this is a transferred student: Eria. Please make friends with him," a lovely voice sounded throughout the class. It belonged to a beautiful maiden, feet small than Eria. Although tiny, she was a beauty, moreover mighty and charming. Eria suddenly missed his sister as he saw the midget teacher.

Xue had forcefully taken Rin away to the high Zaohire academy. Of course, Rin didn't want to leave due to Eria, but against Xue's strength, she couldn't even raise a finger. Although Eria wanted to step ahead, he stopped when she said," You can't protect her."

Although he knew Xue was doing it for her benefit, he didn't stop her. Eria knew she would treat her nicely. Considering Rin had a triple essential elemental heavenly talent, not even the head of the Zaphire academy would dare to harm her.

"Ok class, why don't you introduce yourself to him. I will start, my name is Ane," the dwarf teacher said with a smile.

Contrary to the teacher's expectation, the students glanced at him once again and turned away. It was clear they didn't put him on their level and were scorning to introduce themselves. Furthermore, some of the students looked at him with playfulness and rage.

He didn't understand the meaning behind the gaze, and he didn't care. Instead, he was amused by the mask of nobleness behind their detestable faces.

Shaking his head slightly, Eria looked to find an open seat with a table which had his name on it. It was right next to the window and was at the edge of the classroom.

Although Eria wasn't bothered by the gazes, the midget lady was, and it tightened her heart. She believed in righteous and fairness. Therefore she forced the class to introduce themselves and gave Eria all the information relating to the Zaphire academy.

Shortly after her unhappiness melted away, she explained the essence of magic, and the modern use of it. Although Eria knew more about magic than anyone in Zaphire academy, he was still engrossed by the applications of magic in modern times. It seemed the uses of simple magic had progressed beyond that of the ancient era.

As time passed, Eria understood the exciting and frightening aspect of the modern Spirit realm. Two thoughts occupied him as the class progressed: the new magical tools and the rise of demonic creatures. Hearing more about the current history; to him, it seemed as though the world had vastly changed.

Shortly after the class ended, the students moved to the new class, but Eria was still in his seat. He was pondering about the matter of the demons. As he discovered more about the history; he understood what demons were; it seemed as though the aliens had reproduced in the Spirit realm.

As several thoughts were surging throughout Eria's mind, a rough girl, with a long crimson hair, and slightly muscular body looked at him with a ridiculed look.

"So you are the triple elemental genius. Hmph, don't act like you are the only genius in the academy. There are more than a handful of people who are more talented than you. They deserve this place more than you, for instance - my brot-

It doesn't matter; you are probably going to be demoted without an increase in strength. Ah, I have a better idea; how about this, I challenge you for your seat in class one. If you lose, I will hand it to someone else. If you are too scared to battle, I can pay you for your seat."

Eria couldn't help but want to laugh as he heard her taunting. She looked to be about thirteen years old but still dared to challenge him boldly. He examined her aura and realized that she was at peak sky of the beginner mage, nearing to the elite mage. Seeing him examing her aura, the girl blushed and released all of it at once.

Eria's body suddenly felt hot as he felt her aura. Without giving Eria a chance, the crimson lady attacked him with a fist full of fire. Eria also released a fraction of his aura as battle intent sparked in his eyes.

"Stop causing trouble!"

Suddenly, a midget beauty appeared between the two and stoped the girl's fist. A look of disappointment flashed through Ane's eyes as she put out the fire.

"Yu, I didn't think you would be same as those foolish noble: exuding your arrogance to someone of lower status than yours. Furthermore, for the sake of your brother, who had violated many commoners. I didn't think you would turn out to be like this," Ane's rebuked with a solemn expression.

As Yu realized that she had done what she had once detested, her body shook, and she nearly collapsed. She couldn't help but think of the consequences for her action. Although it wasn't a bad deal for her, it wasn't so for the commoner; she had been too selfish.

"Teache-er, I am so-sorry," Yu's eyes suddenly clouded with mist. She wanted to help her younger brother to be promoted to class one. So, as a young girl with a fierce temper, she couldn't help but act on impulse and put pressure on Eria.

Ane's rage suddenly dissolved as she gently patted Yu's head and chirped, "Then, as a sorry, why don't you become Eria's frien—"

However, before she could finish her sentence, Eria chuckled and said," I accept your challenge. So what are you planning on wagering."
