The God's Throne

Chapter 16 - Measuring talent

"Ren, stop talking about marriage or I will shove my blade through your throat," Xue rebuked aloud with an enraged expression. She was fuming with anger, and could hardly catch a gasp for air.

Amidst a laugh, a young man with a shaven head, an upright nose, and sword-like eyebrows came walking in with an elegant posture. He glanced around with a cheeky face, but once he spotted the golden knights, his smirk faded, and his expression turned grave. As he saw them surrounding Ren, his colorful eyes of playfulness turned into eyes of terror.

"Xue, you know I am joking. You are like a sister to me," said Ren with a gloomy expression. He didn't dare to talk about marriage with big shots in the room. The golden armored knights were talented youths who came from the empire as seen by the imprint at the back of the armor. He surmised they had crush upon Xue, so he didn't dare to speak of marriage.

People were tensed realizing the atmosphere; however, there were two odd people who didn't have a change in heart. They were Eria and Auo. Auo was a goofball who wasn't understood by common sense, whereas Eria was someone who couldn't care less about others situation. He was rather interested in the things decorated around the walls.

While glancing around the guest room, Eria found several golden medals and paintings of several breathtaking figures. Although he couldn't recognize any of them, he was sure they were prominent figures. While he was immersing himself in the strange experience, a loud ruckus soon entered his ears.

"What? You want them to attend this academy! There is still a few months until the student selection..." Ren couldn't help be petrified. Xue wanted him to do the unthinkable; something that could threaten his position.

"As an elder of higher Zaphire Academy, I can bend these few rules, " Xue couldn't back down after the promise. Even if it meant to change the rules, she would do it. Seeing the bright spark of light in the beauty's eyes, Ren's heart shook, and his complexion dropped its strictness. His heart nearly melted from the glance, but he didn't dare stare at them too much.

"Fine, fine. I will do it. Whoever is planning on entering the academy, come follow me," said Ren while moving his eyes towards the exit.

While following the bald man, Eria saw the vastness of the academy. It was undoubtedly the right place for education and training. The academy had rooms for training, held tremendously vast libraries, and futuristic workshop; which amounted to wealth more than what hundreds of Glaze village could offer.

"Here we are," said Ren as he smiled proudly. After making a few trips around the corridor, Eria finally saw a device he was familiar. A colossal pillar remained there with an unnaturally, transparent color. Ren proudly glanced at the surprise faces of the villagers while standing next to the pillar.

"This device before you is a godsent gift. A talent measuring device - Gods accessor, one and the only king ranked treasure in the dragon soaring city."

"Its quite low ranked treasure for a Gods accessor," said one of the golden armored knight with an expression of disdain. Eria couldn't help but nod to this man's response. God's accessor was a treasure first made by God of fortune. He had taken a century to make it from scratch, resulting it to be a high ranked divine treasure. It could tell one's talent in any hundreds of the different path of Mage and knights and the soul. It included ice, space, time, yin, yang and even chaos.

Replicas of this treasure were spread throughout the world, but the lowest-ranked was a king grade. However, the king ranked Gods accessor could still represent the rank of the highest compatible element of each individual for seven basic elements of mage and knights. They were light, fire, water, wood, lightning, metal and dark. The level it could manifest was a low, high, genius, outstanding, and heavenly.

"Alright, Eria go and use your mana to try it. If it isn't high, you will not be able to enter the academy," directed Xue. She was quite curious about Eria as he was someone who even nearly defeated a silver knight - a person from an empire.

Eria gently touched upon the pillar and injected his mana. Suddenly a zap of lightning, blaze of fire, and cloud of darkness spread in the pillar. A majestic word made of those basic elements suddenly appeared: Genius.

"Triple elemental genius body. It's unfortunate its only genius level. If it were outstanding, he could be brought to the high Zaphire Academy," Xue shook her head as she saw the words. She glanced at Ren to hear his decision.

"Good, excellent. You will go to class one of the first year for mage class," Ren was slightly surprised but overall was in suddenly a good mood. He was the vice head of the Zaphire academy, so he cared about what genius was pulled in the academy.

There were twenty-five Zaphire academies in Zaphire kingdom, including the main one. The resources were handed out by the ranks of each academy, excluding the main academy.

Currently, the Soaring dragon Zaphire academy was at the lowest level. If they had more geniuses, not only would students get more resources, but so would the instructors. Ren had an ambition of bringing it to the top 10 within ten years to gain enough resources to increase his level to that of the magical king.

Eria couldn't help but sigh inwardly. He didn't expect for his talent to be so trash that even he was surprised. Genius meant that his talent only guaranteed he could be an elite mage.

Furthermore, in his opinion, it was the equipment fault. If it could judge the talent of the soul, he would be above heavenly. Soul also had an influence on the path of a mage and a knight, so he felt a bit betrayed.

However, he also understood that standing out too much would also be a problem.

"Auo, you go and try," Xue said as she smiled. She had a good impression of Auo. Although shy, he was courageous and honest. With a simple nod, Auo walked beside Eria and circulated his spiritual aura through the pillar. Suddenly, a fire sword appeared inside the pillar, and before it, a word manifested: Outstanding.

Ren's eyes suddenly blazed with fire as he saw that word, but he still kept his complexion the same. Golden armored knights were a bit surprised but showed no more emotion. Xue was surprised, but she held down what was in her mind. She glanced at Ren and said, "Since it's a single element, I have no need to take him to the main academy."

She didn't think the kids would be gifted, but since Ren had gone through the trouble, she didn't have the heart to take Auo away. Furthermore, without heavenly talent, Auo would need six months to join the main academy, so she didn't change her mind.

Ren was slightly surprised but he was inwardly happy. With a grin, he said," You will be personally taught by me."

Soon, few more people entered and gained the rank of outstanding. However, before Ren could beam with happiness, the golden knight came in and said that they were under their wings. Ren was suddenly reluctant to give them away. Even Xue was annoyed as they were meant to be students for the Zaphire academy.

However, under the pressure of the golden knights, Ren gave up with a bitter smile. He didn't expect all of them to be so talented. He couldn't help but blame his luck; he wasn't there at the right time.

"Dax, go on," the young master of the soaring dragon city said with a smile on his face. He was hoping that this new follower of his would provide a pleasant surprise.

Dax nodded and plastered his palm against the pillar. A massive flame oozed out of the pillar, gripping nearly everyone with fear. A sword and a shield made of fire suddenly manifested inside the pillar. Suddenly a word emerged in front of everyone which left them baffled. It was heavenly.

"HAHA. Good one Dax. You have brought me a surprise. Let's go to the empire academy now," Golden knight pulled Dax and walked off from the academy. Heavenly talents were few within the empire, and for one to emerge was a great deal. If the golden armored soldier presented it to the elders in the empire academy, he would get countless benefits.

Xue was suddenly muddled head. All of a sudden, she felt like she had let out a great opportunity. She wanted to shed tears but was embarrassed to do so; even she would have been awarded for bringing in such a talent.

"Ok Rin, you are the last one, go and let out your mana," Xue said to the little girl who was beside Eria. Rin was slightly shy, but she still went and put her hand on the pillar. Suddenly the entire room was filled with white light. Within that light, there was a tinge of azure light. A magnificent character suddenly appeared at the top of the pillar. It readout: heavenly

Xue voice suddenly stuttered as she said: "Triple.. elemental heavenly body, How can this talent emerge in a village?"
