Nie Lan fused demon spirits and got lucky with 5 failures, 3 extraordinary, and 1 god growth demon spirit. She was happy that at least the god growth was a heavenly lightning sparrow.

With this, she had gotten what she wanted, to help out Xiao Ning'er and get her to be stronger.

She still had one more fusion left so she started on her last one.

The demon spirits inside the Nightmare Demon Pot were absorbing one another by fighting. The weaker ones serve to empower the stronger demon spirits.

All 10 came together and started the battle for evolution. It took a dozen breaths of time before the pot started to settle down.

The only sphere that contained demon spirits left over was a real mystery. It had two cats, one black, one white. Usually demon spirits are one demon beast but this one contained two...

Before she could ponder over this mystery a roar could be heard from her soul realm. The two cats were frightened and acted like small kittens as they covered their heads. Not even a breath later the two cats were s.u.c.k.e.d into her soul realm by the mysterious demon beast inside and integrated itself.

Nie Lan pouted a little bit because she still did not solve the mystery of have two demon spirits. This was an entirely new thing as she had never seen any demon spirits nor records of them being a pair.

Using her soul force she circulated the demon spirits and found out that there was a concept of yin yang contained inside the demon spirits.

Nie Lan was surprised at this revelation an started making theories. Yin yang was just two sides of a coin after all, so it might make sense for two to be one.

Nie Lan started activating the demon spirit and the result shocked her. She felt as if she was splitting in two...no she was splitting in two. When her demon spirit transformation finished she felt a connection, standing in front of her was a white eared girl/black eared girl.

Nie Lan felt both of her selves as she moved her right arm. Both arms moved up and c.a.r.e.s.sed each other's face.

Nie Lan was surprised and started experimenting on this newfound ability. It took her a few times to get used to the disorientation of multi-tasking as she separated the actions that each one of her halves took.

She could fluently control both of her using different actions now. This boosted her combat ability as she was now like two gold rank demon spiritualists in one.

Since the demon spirit was an unknown one that she believes to be the first of its kind she decided to name it Duality Cats as there were two of them.

She tried out the abilities that the demon spirit had and felt an attraction. The black eared girl and white eared girl clasped each other's hands and in between it was like a fight of white and black lights mixing together. They combined and then Nie Lan felt natural to throw out the attack. A huge explosion happened in the direction of the sphere of black and white lights.

After the lights settled down she could see a huge crater had appeared in place of the light and she was shocked. It felt like the attack could directly obliterate black gold rank demon spiritualists if they were off guard. This meant she had a new life saving attack that boosts her fighting power.

Nie Lan was happy as she found out but she felt like she was drained of her spiritual energy by more than half. The expenditure of this ability was way too high, she deemed it useless for now as she was just a gold rank demon spiritualist. But the fact that she can split into two was already a positive factor of her newly acquired demon spirit.

She felt tired due to the usage of most of her spiritual energy and decided to just go to sleep.

The next day, Nie Lan felt refreshed again and got up to go to school. It was the same boring lectures as she already knew this stuff as if it was just knowledge that even babies would know.

Although Nie Lan seemed like she was paying attention to the lecture she was actually inside her soul realm playing with the cats. They were sentient as they were able to interact with her and they played many games using soul force like making threads of strings and waving them in front of the cats. She also nourished the cats as she turned her soul force into the shape of fish and fed it to them. They seemed to enjoy this form more as they nibbled on the fish.

Nie Lan was feeling joyous as she kept playing with them the entire day. After class she met up with Xiao Ning'er, they had made it sort of like a schedule as they were always together. Nie Lan presented Xiao Ning'er with the Heavenly Lightning Sparrow that she had made. Briefly explaining the growth rates she told Xiao Ning'er that it was the best demon spirit for her to use currently.

Xiao Ning'er did not care nor did she pay attention to the growth rates, she just felt like since Nie Lan gave this to her as a present she would use it regardless. She knew that Nie Lan had many mysterious things and that she would never harm her so she trusted Nie Lan fully. After integrating with the demon spirit as she was already silver rank thanks to Nie Lan's cultivation technique she felt a link between her and the spirit. She transformed into her demon spirit as wings of lightning appeared on her back, her pupils turning into a blue color as electricity sparked all around her body. She felt the power of the demon spirit as though it was constantly evolving through the use of her soul force. She could feel the demon spirit breaking through from 1-star bronze rank to 4-star bronze rank. She was only a silver rank demon spiritualist so the amount she could supply was not much.

Xiao Ning'er understood that this was due to what Nie Lan called the god growth rate as the demon spirit can constantly evolve with enough soul force.

After spending an afternoon together they parted ways as Nie Lan had things she needed to do.
