Quick Transmigration: The Queen's Worlds

Chapter 48 - The Rise Of The Forgotten Film Empress (20)

In late Autumn after months of filming, Director Sheng's latest masterpiece, The End's Predator, was finally due for release.

Aside from the public relations staff, who were working hard on the advertising of the newest film, the main cast was also doing their jobs and diligently promoting it through various means.

"Miss Fang Shufen, how was your experience whilst working on the set?" The woman sat opposite her asked with a polite smile.

Fang Shufen, who was dressed in a beautiful outfit, wore a warm smile, contrary to her true personality, said, "Most of the crew were very kind to me and treated me very well, of course."

"Most?" As any competent interviewer would, she took every chance to dive in further, hoping to dig out any sliver of gossip from Fang Shufen. "Did you not get along with some of your coworkers?"

"I know that it's impossible to get along with everybody you meet but," Fang Shufen put on a slightly hurt expression, "One of my co-workers seem to dislike me quite a bit..."

"Really? Who?" The interviewer asking with an empathetic smile, trying to fish some more information out of her.

"Ah, I don't want to name names since this is a personal matter haha." she said, "Actually, originally I had auditioned for her role but inexplicably the crew changed their minds and replaced me with her."

The interviewers' eyes gleamed brightly.

It wasn't too difficult to understand what Fang Shufen was implying - somebody had used their connections to enter through the backdoor.

"But it's fine, I also really like the character I'm playing. I resonate with her deeply...." Fang Shufen changed the subject pretentiously.

After the interview was over, the warm, kind smile was immediately replaced with her usual arrogance and a hint of pride.

Although she knew her actions would cause her manager and the staff of The End's Predator to be angry, she didn't care.

Like most spoiled second generations, Fang Shufen thought that as long as she had money, she could do whatever she wants and all she wanted right now was to drag that woman, Xia Zhilan, down.

Her eyes burned with anger every time she thought back to the times Xia Zhilan caused her to be humiliated in front of everyone on the set.

With the rumours about her exploding online, she was determined to drag her name through the mud even further.

The interviewer was also extremely satisfied.

Recently, Xia Zhilan was a highly popular topic. Her name was practically dominating the hot search bar every day.

The interviewer's eyes glowed happily as she thought about the praises she was gonna get from her boss.

'Perhaps I'll even get a raise! Or maybe a bonus!' She thought giddily.

Just as she expected, when the interview was finished editing and posted on their site online, it was massively popular - for all the wrong reasons, of course. .

People online are horribly nosy and naturally, their favourite hobby was conjuring up conspiracy theories.

It didn't take too long before they worked out who Fang Shufen was hinting at.

On the same evening, another explosive piece of news came out.

The main character of all this drama, Xia Zhilan, signed an S-tier contract with Orchid Entertainment.

Chaotic was the only word that could describe the mess online.

"OH SHIT!"

"Omg, she actually did it-"

"Wait, Xia Zhilan actually managed to snatch up that president like she said she will?"

"An S-tier contract?!"

"Even Rose Wu only managed to get a B-tier one despite her success."

"Ew, how is somebody that disgusting even allowed in the film industry?"

"Relying on her looks and body to climb up?"

"She probably has no skills or talent to resort to these means."

However, the people who claimed she had no talent had no choice but to shut their mouths when the highly anticipated film, The End's Predator, was officially released.

Movie critics had nothing but raving reviews for it and the film had practically blown all its competitors out of the water in the box office.

Like most of Director Sheng's works, it was very difficult to point out any flaws.

This included Xia Zhilan, who had supposedly gotten the role through the backdoor.

Although she had showcased her skills in The Star's Window, many were still unconvinced of her talent. However, after the release of this movie, Xia Zhilan's acting was no longer up for debate.

Her stunning performance had even caused many to consider shortlisting her name to the list of nominees for various prestigious acting awards.

...

At the celebratory banquet for the success of The End's Predator...

Xia Zhilan, dressed in a beautiful fiery red dress, sat in an inconspicuous corner sipping from her wine glass elegantly with her cute little ȧssistant, Qiao Min, next to her.

"Miss Xia, the netizens are going crazy after you!" she said proudly.

"This is nothing." Xia Zhilan pulled up her lips to form an enchanting smile, "Qiao Min, I'm planning on stepping onto the international stage in two years time. Are you prepared to come with me?" she asked calmly.

Qiao Min's eyes widened slightly "International?"

If it was anybody else saying that, she would've laughed and called them insane. Is obtaining global success as an actress such a trivial matter?

However, it was Xia Zhilan.

There was not a single fluctuation of emotion in the depths of her beautiful eyes.. Everything seemed so inconsequential to her as if it was a matter of course.
