According to the system, the next time the protagonists happen to meet was tomorrow at the mall. Although Xia Zhilan felt slightly bad for ruining Shi Huilang's happily ever after because she was a genuinely nice person but she had no choice. However her protagonist halo will probably allow her to meet someone on par or even better than him. Of course she didn't really care about the ML - she still held a grudge against him even though he technically had not done it.

In the end, Xia Zhilan decided to invite Bai Meixiu and the FL, otherwise they might never even see Ye Jiangyu without her.

Shi Huilang was extremely flattered when Xiao Yingyue invited her out, after all they had only met the day before. She was only the poor new girl whilst Yingyue was practically the Queen of the school.

Shi Huilang was excited.

Bai Meixiu and Xia Zhilan are her first friends since coming to this school as she had been looked down on by the others for her simple background.

The girls decided to take a rest at a popular café and as Xia Zhilan expected, she met the ML, Ye Jiangyu whilst lining up in the queue.

"Ye Jiangyu? What are you doing here?" Zhilan asked with a started expression.

He merely raised his eyebrows. " What else would I be doing in a café?" He said bluntly.

"Ah... That was a stupid question...!" She laughed awkwardly.

'It's called SMALL TALK! Ever heard of it?' Xia Zhilan thought inwardly.

After having an extremely awkward conversation, it was finally her turn.

'How does this guy even have friends?' Xia Zhilan thought exasperatedly. 'It's practically impossible to talk to this guy!'

"Ye Jiangyu, I'm with some of my friends. Do you want to join us?" Xia Zhilan asked politely whilst holding their drinks.

"Sure" Ye Jiangyu agreed emotionlessly. However on the inside he was slightly nervous for some reason but he brushed it off as eating something funny. He also offered to help carry her drinks, which she agreed.

The strange feeling in his stomach appeared again.

"Ah... Hello, Ye Jiangyu! What a coincidence." Bai Meixiu greeted as they set the drinks down.

Shi Huilang on the other hand, had a look of disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e on her face.

"Huilang, this is Ye Jiangyu. He's the heir to Ye Coperations." Xia Zhilan introduced and turned to the ML "This is Shi Huilang, she's new."

"Yeah, we've met." Shi Huilang said stiffly.

"Really? You've met? That's great!"

As usual, Ye Jiangyu only nodded without a word.

Shi Huilang decided to forget everything that happened as she didn't want to make things awkward.

After chatting a bit Bai Meixiu casually mentioned "Oh yeah, Yingyue was invited to an art competition, next month."

The male lead was surprised "I didn't know you liked art?"

"Really? It's always been my hobby" Zhilan replied casually.

"Wait, what? I didn't know about that either!" Meixiu said in confusion.

After hanging out for a while, they all finally went back home.

Honestly, Xia Zhilan was pretty exhausted. Hanging out with Ye Jiangyu practically drained all of her energy. She had to act delicate and cheerful 24/7 around him whilst calming her inner frustrations. She even had to realistically trip on air so he'll romantically catch her and then force herself to blush, which is pretty difficult.

Thanks to her efforts, her fragile and delicate facade worked - the ML, Ye Jiangyu was starting to like her even more.

According to the system, the side task was 25% completed.

'Wow, we've literally met twice so far and it's already a quarter done?' Xia Zhilan thought in satisfaction. This meant she could probably leave this world soon.

'I hope he doesn't become obsessed with me... In some novels, the ML ends up r*ping the FL because of a misunderstanding and jealousy...' Xia Zhilan shivered however she wasn't afraid. She was extremely confident in her close combat skills.

Even if she wasn't allowed to kill him off, if he tried anything, she won't hesitate to scar him for life.

Luckily it was finally the weekend and 'her' parents had called her back home which meant no dealing with the ML, or so she thought...

Their home, or should I say mansion, was exactly as expected - extremely luxurious.

There were expensive, high quality paintings hung up in every room, shelves filled with rare antiques, and butlers and maids waiting everywhere.

Xiao Yingyue's parents were just as she thought. Although they loved their daughter dearly, they weren't the type to show it, which ended up making Yingyue feel unloved and did everything she could to make them proud. Of course, even when they were they'd rarely show it in front of her. Instead they'd shamelessly brag about it to their friends.

"Yingyue you're back. I hope you've been studying hard." Xiao Yingyue's father, Xiao Donghai, said in a stern voice.

"Yes, father." Zhilan replied in an obedient voice.

"Ah, Yingyue! You're back?" Yingyue's mother, Wei Lanying said "I hope your new apartment is good enough to your liking."

"Yes, mum. It's good!" Xia Zhilan replied. "I've also been invited to compete in the national art competition, next month." Zhilan decided to honour the original's old wishes.

The parents faces immediately lit up slightly and even had a faint smile on the mouths.

However Father Xiao only nodded in response whilst Mother Xiao only said one word, "Good."

"The chef has already prepared lunch, your favourites." Mother Xiao quickly changed the subject.

'No wonder Xiao Yingyue grew up like that...' Xia Zhilan thought to herself. 'They barely had a reaction!'

"Yingyue there'll be a party this evening which you have to attend. As the heir of the Xiao Group you must establish connections with others especially when your young." Father Xiao warned Zhilan.

"I'll do my best, father." Zhilan said with a confident smile.

'F*ck, this means I'll see the ML!' Xia Zhilan complained inwardly. This was supposed to be her rest!

'Host 1520, shouldn't you be glad? Another chance to improve your relationship!'

'System, couldn't you have given me a different target? He barely even replies to me! How can I even have a conversation with him? I'm basically talking to myself most of the time.' These people are the worst.

"It was the most efficient way to complete the mission. And you get extra points!'
