PS I'm Over You

Chapter 78 - The Successor's Game

Going down to the level where the central control was at, Erica quickly moved and avoided the dead bodies of her security team. Damn, her brother really put an all-out war against Ririna? She hadn't seen him in years and he is the only sibling she has.

Her heart clenched at the thought that her brother might have something to do with their father's sudden disappearance.

Once she passed the security lock of the room, she noticed that there's a faint light coming from the connected room. She took a look on it cautiously, her hand on her gun as she peeks from the outside. Erica let out a sigh of relief when she saw it was Ririna in front of the massive computer they have set up in the room.

"Ririna? Are you okay?" Erica asked, she walked and stopped behind her friend who was busy finding the locations of their enemies. On one of the monitors, there is a red dot that was moving fast away from the area. Erica assumed then that it was Skyler's.

Her eyes then landed on Ririna's back which is still covered with blood.

"What happened?"

"Kian." Ririna replied but her eyes fixed on the monitors as her fingers typed on the keyboard so fast. " You can check the recording of the cameras if you're in doubt. I understand that you care for your brother because you both share the same blood in your veins but you must understand that he tried to kill my son and Jiro."

Erica didn't respond but she felt dejected and her heart ached for her brother. Nevertheless, she sat on the opposite side and started checking the recording. Her eyes glued to the screen as she watched how her brother attacked Ririna in her office. Then her eyes widened in horror when Ririna stab her brother's left eye.

The remaining scenes played in front of her but she's already in dazed. She couldn't understand why. Kian wasn't as violent as this when they were younger. He was always full of smiles and had a good heart for everyone. Who made her brother a monster like this?

"Have you heard the recent news about your brother?" Ririna's voice pulled her out from her thoughts.

"No. I'm not really in touch with what's happening recently in the Underworld. With the problems within our family and your recent attack, it left me no time but to deal with issues one at a time." Erica confessed. With their father's disappearance, the issues and missions for their family business have been thrown in her hands.

"There's a report that Hattori made him an apprentice and has chosen him as a candidate for the title."

"But why would he try to kill you? I don't get it. He loves you for as long as I can remember."

Ririna's fingers stopped mid-air at what Erica said. Of course, she knew. She knew about Kian's feelings for her but she already made it clear to him when he confessed that she could only see him as a friend and nothing else.

Her heart was already owned by Eli at the time, until now he still has it, hence she would decline any male who will try to seek her. She just didn't expect that Kian will change and take the other part.

He wanted all of her or nothing at all. If he couldn't have her then he would kill her and all of her loved ones. He became a psychotic man who couldn't think with logic. Poor Erica, she would have to suffer because of her brother.

"Apparently, the current Hattori has put my name as a candidate too. It's either he kills me or beat me to get the title. Forgive me if I have to put this insanity on its end." Ririna answered, her warning was clear. She would not hesitate to kill Kian this time.

The Successor's game had finally started.

"I knew there's something wrong with him. Father has been telling me for years that somehow Kian became deranged after finishing several rank A missions. I understand, Ririna." Erica said dejectedly. She shut her eyes and took a deep breath.

She's also a mercenary and knew that she was bound in a contract with Ririna Han. Even if she wanted to help her brother, that would also mean signing a war against the Park and Han family.

Ririna sighed and then pinched the space between her brows before connecting once again to Eli's line.

"I have activated the jammers within the area of 100 meters. Is this enough?" she asked him.

"Yes. Do you feel better now?"

"I'm alright. Please be careful." her voice softened with worry.

"I will be fine. You are there to watch my back."

Ririna nodded and hummed. She stood up from her seat and took her sniper that was leaning on the wall.

"I will be out now. I will clear your path. Let me know if you need something else." she replied.

She gave a glance to Erica who was watching her move. Erica nodded at her, she couldn't do anything to stop the devil and the witch now. Her brother already crossed the lines and there's no turning back.

"I understand. I will help clear the building. You go and support your husband." Erica said before opening the drawer on her right and throw some spare magazines to Ririna.

"Thanks."

Ririna quickly left the room and took up the stairs to the highest floor of the building. A small tracking device in her pocket with her sniper's strap slung over one of her shoulders. In her hand was a pistol to use for close range enemies.

She could hear the gunshots and Eli's silent curses on the other end of the line. With the jamming on, their enemies would have a hard time to communicate. Eli's back up team would also arrive within five minutes max.

"We will end this soon." she heard his voice.

"Yeah." The trail of dead bodies of Kian's men obstructed her path. She kicked one of those and it rolled down the stairs.

Ririna knew that if she didn't have Eli's support she would have been probably dead right now, even Skyler. If it wasn't for him keeping her safe and sane, she wouldn't have an idea what to do at the moment. Her heart filled with love and deep admiration for this man who didn't give up just to stay beside her.

What she had told Kian earlier was the truth. Everyone sees Eli as the devil but in her heart he is a hero first. She admired him when she was an eight-year-old kid, fell in love with him at the age of sixteen and bore his child at eighteen.

She is younger and he's older. He's always far ahead of her that made her feel like she has to catch up to him. He is good at everything he does but everyone looks at him as if he's the devil who was born as a man.

But in reality, he's just like the other person, his cold personality stems from the treatment he received as a child.

Maybe everyone wouldn't understand why she fell in love with someone as cold and ruthless as Gamaliel Park. Before anything, she met first Eli as a young man and not the devil himself.

Some might say that 'An older man's going to be the strong, nurturing guy who takes care of the younger woman, teaches her, and treats her like a princess – the kind of relationship that she probably lacked growing up.' but in her case it was different.

Eli took her when no one else is there to save her from the pit of hell she was suffering in. Her mother died, she was abducted and tortured and was sent to an unforgiving place that is called 'orphanage'. He took her in, nurtured her and taught her the life on the Underground but he never treated her as a princess. He thought her how to become a witch instead.

Coming back to reality, Ririna reached the highest floor, and went to the ideal spot from where she could hit the enemies in the open area. It was a good thing that her office building has open spaces.

Her wounds stung at her back painfully when she leaned on the window frame. She mounted her sniper scope, adjusted the reticle, and its magnifying level. Then she adjusted her stance for better aim and precision.

She hadn't used this rifle for a long time but as Ririna took deep breaths to normalize and slow down her heartbeat, her eyes shimmer with coldness. Eli and Skyler's lives were on the line and she wouldn't let anyone take them away from her.

"I'm ready," she whispered to her communication piece that she attached on her collar.

"Some of them are blended in the public. Can you work on those lose minions first?" Eli replied that was followed by several gunshots.

"Of course, darling. You can always count on me." Ririna said, her lips curling into a wicked smile.
