PS I'm Over You

Chapter 65 - Drunk and Stupid

Sara wanted to hide at this moment. What is he doing here? How long has it been since she saw this jackass? Rion arched a brow as he looked ahead and saw Sara's ex-boyfriend with the same woman they caught on her bed. So, the stupid guy kept his other woman, eh?

"Don't you want to leave?" Rion asked her.

Sara snorted.

"My life doesn't revolve around him anymore. Goddammit. I don't wanna talk to him anymore." Sara frowned.

"He still calls you?"

"Yeah, every f.u.c.k.i.n.g time. I mean I have already said we're done but he keeps on insisting to come back," she replied before she pulled Rion's arm to follow her on the other side of the aisle.

"Only stupid ones will accept stupid people like him," Rion commented.

They were about to check out their purchases when someone called Sara's name.

"Why are you with him?" Sara's ex-boyfriend asked.

Sara fought the urge to roll her eyes.

"So what? We're done. Whoever I spent my time with is not your business anymore." Sara hissed. Rion almost cheered. This woman is growing some backbone.

"But babe…"

"Stop. You are disgusting. Leave me alone!"

"You would rather hang out with that girly man over me?!"

Sara glared at her ex-boyfriend. She just saw him with his other woman earlier and he got the nerve to accuse her like she was cheating on him.

"Well compared to you, Rion is a fine man. I bet he's even ahead of you on some aspects." she chuckled. Sara believed she isn't lying. Rion is a far better specimen than her son of a bitch ex-boyfriend.

--

Rion parked his car behind Sara's vintage car and stared at her two-story house.

'What the hell am I doing here?' he asked himself.

Sara slipped out from his car and excitedly opened the door of her house with Rion silently following behind her.

He knew exactly what he was doing here. Having a birthday dinner with his secretary. The woman who has been traumatizing him for weeks and the one who keeps giving him headaches. He wondered why he didn't leave her alone to save himself from further torture. Rion could feel the onset of another stressful event tonight. He shouldn't have come in with her.

Rion eyed the planted roses in the flower bed. He had no idea that Sara loves gardening. She has different kinds of roses planted in front of her house. As he neared the front steps, he heard sounds of rustling and saw Sara opening the curtains and the windows to let in the light breeze from the outside. She was humming a song to herself which made Rion smile at her silliness.

Sara peeked around the corner of her kitchen when she heard Rion come inside the house. Her dark locks were damped with sweat as she started to prepare their dinner for tonight. Some of her hair clung to her neck and forehead. She smiled at Rion and motioned him to follow her.

"Come on in. I just put the steak in the oven. I think I'll have to turn the AC higher, it's pretty warm today, isn't it?" she said.

Rion stepped into the foyer and his eyes were blasted with colors in her home. As always, she could make him lose his composure at any moment. Why did he even try? Sara surrounded herself with colors. Bright and lively colors.

Pink, blue and red graced every corner of her home. There are even personalized picture frames hanging on her wall which Rion believed she made herself. The clutter within her home made him crazy since he liked everything in the right place. Her home was just like her. Crazy and unorganized.

Rion set the wine he brought on the table in the kitchen before moving to the largest window within the room. Her home has many windows. Even though her place is small, he liked the layout of her house. The windows added light and a feeling of openness and calmness. The view of the woods near her house added a homey feeling to the atmosphere.

He turned his head to Sara and found her busy cutting the vegetables with a smile on her face. The temperature within the room was warmer compared to the rest of her house. The scent of c.u.min, peppers and other spices filled the air. At least she seems a decent cook, he thought.

The kitchen counters were organized and clean for working and preparation. Her kitchen seems cleaner and more organized. She even planted some herbs in pots on her windowsill on one of the windows of her kitchen. With marble counters and wooden floors, Rion thought that Sara grew up in this home. Is this their ancestral home? From the look of it, the house seems decades old.

Sara seemed to have quickly changed her clothes before he arrived at her front door. She picked up a gray v-neck shirt and denim capris. It was simple but stylish. She let her hair flow freely down her back.

"I bought some wine. It's on the table." Rion said.

"Oh, thank you. I forgot to buy one when I was shopping for the ingredients. Good thing you remembered but well...I still have some tequila here so I didn't bother to add wine to my list." Sara replied without looking at him and kept herself busy with cooking.

As she walked near him, Rion couldn't help but smell her scent. It was something sweet mixed with the aroma of spices she used earlier. He didn't know why but he found it enticing. Sara opened the fridge and bent down at her waist to pick up some strawberries her sister left for her earlier. The outline of her back made Rion's throat dry and his cheeks slightly flushed. He ended up forcing himself to look away.

While Sara didn't have an ample c.h.e.s.t, she still had some womanly curves. Her body had no sharp edges and still looked good at her stature. She retrieved a bowl of strawberries and set them on the counter.

"Did you tell your sister what happened?" He was pertaining to her ex-boyfriend.

"Why would I tell her the details? I just said we're done and she was okay with it."

Sara padded the bowl before she walked barefooted to her pantry and pulled out bottles of liquors from within. Rion watched her as she put the bottles on the counter.

"She never thought of our relationship seriously anyway," she added.

He snorted.

"Just like him."

Sara didn't reply but Rion knew she was still affected by her cheating ex-boyfriend. Why does she keep wasting her time thinking about that mongrel anyway? Sara prepared their drinks and pushed a glass of liquor at his direction.

"Don't start with me. Spare me with your reprimands tonight, milord." Sara sarcastically replied.

She sighed and rolled her eyes. It wasn't his business yet she still feels embarrassed whenever he picks up the issue. He never fails to irritate her. Sara thought he was too old-fashioned and too serious that she barely sees him smile.

--

Sara closed her eyes and took another sip of her drink, enjoying the way the sweetness and the bitterness danced together as it slid down her throat. Opening her eyes, she studied Rion over the rim of her glass. They both look drunk and stupid.

The perfectly dressed businessman from before didn't seem like the same man sitting beside her. After their delicious meal, they started talking like they were longtime friends who haven't seen each other since forever. The awkwardness between them disappeared. The first thing she noticed was his shirt was crumpled and his tie was missing. She had no idea that Rion didn't have much tolerance for alcohol.

Rion brushed his long tresses with his hand and sighed. He tried to compose himself but failed. Sara laughed at him and he glared back. It was clear that the alcohol had influenced both their minds.

"What are you laughing at?"

"Nothing. This is kinda new to me. To see you like this I mean." Sara said before drinking the remaining contents of her glass. She didn't know why but she's starting to feel dizzy. Maybe she drank too much alcohol today.

"You have a bad taste with men," Rion commented.

Sara frowned.

"I know and for f.u.c.k's sake, please stop. It isn't like you're faring better than me. You never even had a woman in your life." Sara replied.

Rion turned his head, which rested on the back of the couch and looked at her. She was sitting closer than he thought so he drew back a little to focus on looking at her face. They both propped their feet on the coffee table with his tall size next to her slim body.

Sara giggled. Her joyous laughter made him smile. Damn, she is gorgeous when she smiles. Her personality is a total opposite of him. While he's cold and prefers to be alone, she's a social butterfly. Anyone can easily fall for her charm and talk with her with ease.

She poured herself another shot and drank it. She licked her lower lip and laughed again. Rion followed the movement as if he was entranced by the sight of her tongue flitting out over her lips. He thought he could never find a woman who can affect him but as he looked at Sara, he found her mind-numbing gorgeous and attractive.

The laughter was replaced with silence when she noticed Rion was looking at her differently. Maybe because they had so much alcohol, their eyes were replaced by something much darker, something unusual.

Sara leaned closer, her scent surrounding him, making him more aware of her presence. She placed her hand on one of his shoulders as he also leaned forward towards her. One of his hands slipped on her back, pulling her closer.

His lips were within inches from hers. His eyes turned darker as he looked down at her. She leaned closer to him, tempting him and driving him more insane. After a short while, he had claimed her lips with his.
