Chapter 27 - Sect Missions

'Quite the grandiose name, huh?' Blake was attracted to this technique because it was the only one on this floor who combined fire and swordsmanship, at least, the only one she could find.

'Let me look at the price label....' Blake's eyes suddenly widened.

"150 Spirit Stones?! Why you don't just rob people instead..." She softly cursed under her breath. A price of 150 Spirit Stones was no joke, you could see that by how hard to get just a single one is.

She was aware that people were able to get Spirit Stones from completing missions for the sect because of Ye Xia, but the amount wasn't big according to her. Who knows how many missions they would need to do before being able to rent something like this technique. Yes, rent it. This absurd price was to just rent it for a week.

Blake thought about leaving this technique here and searching for another, but when she thought about it, this was the only technique here who fitted her perfectly. She decided to stick around a little longer and read the details about it....

The more she read, the more amazed she became. She had to rent this, it was just too good to leave it here. She reluctantly grabbed the book and walked to that old man at the reception. Blake put the book on the table in front of him.

"150 Spirit Stones." He didn't even bother closely examining the book and immediately said its price. He seemed to have a very good memory.

Blake nodded and a pile of blue, sparkling Spirit Stones appeared on the table. The old man glanced at them for a whole second, before waving his hand. The Spirit Stones disappeared.

He took the book with one hand and formed an open palm with his free hand, putting his palm in the book cape. Blake saw a blue light travel across the book for a second before the book returned to normal.

The old man gave the book back to Blake, who was left dumbfounded from what happened earlier. What the hell was that?!

As Blake looked at him with a gaze full of questions, the old man was just calmly standing there, like he had no intention of explaining anything. Left with no choice, she left the library.

As Blake just left and checked the inside of her space ring, she sighed. There were now only 49 Spirit Stones left.

'Running a Sect sure is profitable..' It was obvious the sect was getting big amounts of money from stuff like this, the entrance test fee was nothing compared to this. Having to rent the techniques means that anyone who did not learn it had to buy it again, and with the number of disciples they had, you can easily imagine the money.

Even if the disciples were poor, the sect could still use them do stuff they want by missions. Most of them would still give the money back to the sect in the end if they wanted to learn techniques, so the losses were minimal to the sect.

Blake, who was from Earth's modern age, could figure a simple plot to earn money like this out. She sighed again, there was nothing she could do to change this unless she called the shots around here.

'I have better things to focus..' She glanced at the book in her hands. This technique was great. She thought at the start that it only did something like covering the sword in flames, but that was only the basics of it.

The Domineering Flame Sword Art allowed the user to cover the blade of the sword in flames, and extend its reach as much as the cultivator Qi allows it. You could also easily control the amount of flames in the blade of the sword, you could make it as hot as a hot knife or have it completely covered by flames. If you are at the Qi Emission level, you can also use this technique to send fire slashes at your opponent.

What excited Blake enough to buy this is the fact that you could increase the length of the sword's blade. Just like Little Xun could make a whip made of fire, with this, her attacking range could potentially increase a lot.

Blake headed to her second destination of the day, the mission hall. She wanted more Spirit Stones, so she would check if there any mission she could complete while she farmed EXP to increase Riolu and Honedge levels in the nearby forest.

The mission hall wasn't as big as the sect library, only having one floor. But unlike the library, this place had lots of people coming and going, either alone or in groups. As she entered it, she was even more surprised. The number of people here was really big.

The place was noisy, lots of people were chatting, there were some tables and chairs, even receptionists. If not by the fact she was in a cultivation world, the lack of music, and also because the people weren't talking roughly and loudly like adventurers, she would think she was in a fantasy tavern. Blake went to talk to a male receptionist.

After some time chatting, she figured out how this place worked. There were a bunch of papers into a wall, all these papers had a mission information. All someone needed to do to take a mission was to talk to a receptionist about it.

"Hmm, can I take that one then?" Blake pointed to a paper. It was a mission about collecting five of a certain herb.

"Sure, for missions of this type, you just need to bring the item here, no need to talk to us in advance." The boy who explained everything to her nodded.

"Okay then, thanks for explaining everything to me... huh... sorry, what's your name?" Blake asked in an embarrassed manner as she scratched the back of her head.

"Zhao Long, What's your name sister?" Said him in a somewhat excited way.

"I'm Blake, well, see you later. Goodbye." Blake smiled, waved a little, and left.

"Goodbye!" Zhao Long waved to her as well. He kept waving even after she was already out of sight, his face somewhat out of focus...

"Dude, what are you doing? There is still a lot of people left, stop daydreaming." One of his colleagues shook his shoulder. He snapped back to reality like he had been under an illusion.

As soon as Blake took a step outside, she heard a familiar song she didn't hear for a long time.
