Pat Me Please

Chapter 89

Yu Zhou was stunned, just as Su Chang had expected.

Su Chang knew very well that with Yu Zhou’s personality, if she kept ignoring her and brushing her off, it wouldn’t take long before Yu Zhou would become discouraged and disheartened, eventually avoiding her altogether. Then, she would take a long time to rebuild her confidence, lamenting the unfortunate missed opportunity.

Yu Zhou was the type to respond well to gentle coaxing and gradual pursuit. But if Su Chang continued to approach her gently, she would feel as if she had no self-respect.

So she decided to push Yu Zhou a little, maybe that could give her a strong dose.

As expected, Yu Zhou looked dazed, as if she had been jolted by the strong dose.

However, she quickly calmed herself down and focused on the menu’s thick leather cover, organizing her thoughts.

“I’m really surprised by what you just told me and I can’t bear the heartache. I feel so guilty,” she admitted.

Yu Zhou had been bothered by this matter for quite some time but never considered the other possibility.

Only now did she understand what Su Chang’s “freelancer” title meant back then. It sounded cool because it seemed to imply freedom, detachment, and independence. Thus, when she was showing off to Xiang Wan, she proudly said that Su Chang could rival an entire studio on her own. It sounded glorious, like the top martial artists in the world who always fought alone.

But then she discovered that being a “freelancer” also meant having no allies, no support, and no one to rely on. It meant that when Su Chang was secretly photographed, she had to reach out to her fans to delete the images herself, one by one. If someone were to slander her, she could only report it with her ID card, just like any other ordinary person who was not given special privileges.

She didn’t even ask for Yu Zhou’s help when taking her ID card photo.

However, upon reflection, she probably wouldn’t have asked anyone else for help anyway. She likely set up a phone stand herself to take the picture.

Imagining Su Chang trying to compose herself after reading that post to carefully take the photo, Yu Zhou couldn’t help but feel increasingly heartbroken.

She had never been an exceptional or extraordinary woman, but merely an ordinary girl. She didn’t possess extraordinary powers or multiple lives.

“I might be a little emotional because I’m so upset right now. I can’t tell you clearly and calmly that I’ve made up my mind, that I won’t retreat anymore and I want to hold your hand, facing everything with you, good or bad. I even want to learn to protect you—even if that’s genuinely how I feel right now,” Yu Zhou confessed.

Su Chang’s gaze on the menu faltered momentarily.

“I really think so, Su Chang. I truly want to change, to become better, stronger, to understand you more, to be more determined and braver.”

Yu Zhou lowered her head, “But I can’t guarantee it.”

“Because I am indeed here on impulse. Before this, I had some thoughts, but I hadn’t completely convinced myself. It was your just words that struck me. But I only have ten minutes. I really want to confidently tell you that yes, I can. But I’m afraid I won’t be able to.”

“Because I’m very anxious about our relationship, the more nervous I am, the more I fear I won’t be able to.” She sniffed her nose, trying not to cry.

“I’m afraid that character isn’t something that can be changed overnight. I’m worried that I might still have moments of low self-esteem and lack of confidence, but…”

She glanced at Su Chang and there was a faint light in her eyes.

“What I can guarantee is that, with every instance afterwards, I will try my best to adjust myself. If I get emotional, I’ll try to make it shorter; if I get sick, I’ll try to recover faster. I’ll strive to let myself slowly develop in a better direction and not let myself consider hurting the people close to me.”

“Is that alright?”

She said.

Su Chang pursed her lips, wanting to speak.

But Yu Zhou continued, “If you still want to continue with me, I also want to ask you to promise me one thing. Can you tell me first about things like this in the future? You didn’t tell me many things before, perhaps you wanted to protect me, didn’t want me to be upset. But think about it, if all I ever see is your confident, strong, gentle side, never any negative energy, how am I supposed to understand you? How can I face it together with you?”

“Right?” She gently traced the pattern on the table with her hand.

Su Chang looked at her, slowly blinking her eyes. After two or three times, her gaze softened. “Alright,” she said.

Let’s both try our best since we still like each other.

Yu Zhou felt a little relieved, thinking that this conversation should be heading in a good direction.

After their talk, Su Chang hadn’t even started ordering her food.

Yu Zhou cleared her throat and asked her in a low voice, “So… what you mentioned earlier…will we…do it?”

“Yes,” Su Chang flipped a page on the menu.

Oh my, my heart is pounding.

“So… are we leaving now?”

There was a smile at the corner of Su Chang’s mouth, but she suppressed it, “No hurry, let’s eat first.”

“Oh.”

…Just how long will it take her to look through this menu?

A few seconds later, Su Chang glanced at the dishes and asked, “Do you want to choose for yourself, or should I order for you?”

“You can order for me. You know what I like to eat anyway,” Yu Zhou said.

“Alright.” Finally putting down the menu, Su Chang rang the bell to call for the waiter.

The two enjoyed a quiet meal together. The dishes were indeed delicious, leaving a lingering aftertaste in their mouths. Su Chang was always good at ordering, never choosing anything too greasy or too plain.

Yu Zhou focused on savoring the food until she saw Su Chang take a sip of warm water from her glass. It seemed that the meal was almost over. Yu Zhou wiped the corner of her mouth with a napkin and asked a slightly important question.

“So, are we going to your place or ours?”

Yu Zhou said…ours.

Su Chang glanced at her.

“Which one do you prefer?”

Yu Zhou thought for a moment: “Are you still living at your grandma’s?”

“Yes.”

“Then let’s go to my place. It feels strange and a bit uncomfortable at your grandma’s,” Yu Zhou said awkwardly.

Su Chang smiled, not really minding either way. But suddenly, she remembered something: “I’m afraid we’ll have to go to my grandma’s.”

Yu Zhou looked up and Su Chang explained, “I left in a hurry today and didn’t have time to add food or water for little cow cat.”

She asked softly, seeking Yu Zhou’s opinion, “Can we handle one uncomfortable night there? We can go back to your place tomorrow.”

This meant… they were going to live together, right?

Yu Zhou glanced at her, not asking directly, but after thinking about it, she agreed.

The two drove to Zhujiang Villa. They got out of the car one after another and went straight upstairs from the basement. Yu Zhou changed her shoes and went to check on the kitten first, finding that there was still a little bit of cat food left in the bowl, but it seemed a little broken and the cat didn’t want to eat it anymore. The water bowl was almost empty.

Yu Zhou fetched the bag of cat food from the corner of the dining room, according to her memory from when Su Chang had shown her the last time. She carefully filled the bowl with food and then fetched a cup from the tea table, filled it with purified water and poured it for the little cat.

She squatted for a while, watching the cat before turning her head to look at the silent Su Chang.

The person who was standing quietly by the dining room, silent and seemingly unhappy for being ignored.

Then, Yu Zhou walked over, wrapped her arms around Su Chang’s neck and the two began to kiss.

Normally, they would leave kissing to when they were in the bedroom, but seeing Su Chang standing there, Yu Zhou wanted to kiss her so much because she seemed to have been waiting for a long time.

This time, Su Chang’s movements were still slow and gentle. Yu Zhou found herself sinking into the darkness, into a soft bed, feeling a long-lost breath.

Soon, she clenched Su Chang’s shoulder again, calling her in a tiny whisper, “Su Chang, Su Chang.”

Then Su Chang hugged her, waiting for her to calm down.

Perhaps because Su Chang had topped once already, when Yu Zhou touched her again, Su Chang, who lay beneath her, had already become quite soft. Yu Zhou moved only a little bit and she was already panting slightly. Her tone was even, but as light as fluffy cat fur.

She said, “It’s coming soon.”

Yu Zhou asked her quietly, “Why are you so sensitive?”

I haven’t done it in a while. “I really miss you.”

Yu Zhou looked at Su Chang’s slightly furrowed brows while pulling out her hand and placing it beside her thigh, saying, “Don’t let it happen yet; just hold on a little longer.”

She didn’t want it to end so soon. Her heart hadn’t yet calmed down. There were waves of deep feelings that she wanted to convey through her body.

Then Yu Zhou began to kiss her. After a minute or two, she resumed her movements.

Retreating once again when Su Chang was on the verge of losing control, Yu Zhou still wanted to tell her to endure it.

Su Chang’s expression gradually grew dazed. After the third time, she grabbed Yu Zhou’s wrist.

Yu Zhou looked at her and asked softly, “Aren’t you really good at holding back?”

Her question, carrying a hint of grievance and blame, sounded almost tearful.

She wanted to ask Su Chang, why were you so good at enduring? All the malice, slander, defamation, and attacks, as long as you want to endure, even the person by your pillow hadn’t detected them.

However, it seemed as if she was also blaming herself – why hadn’t she, the person beside Su Chang, noticed?

Su Chang trembled lightly, and Yu Zhou, unable to bear it any longer, gave her her hand.

The third time, Su Chang stood by the wall and Yu Zhou didn’t use her hand.

She lifted one leg with her toes lightly resting on Yu Zhou’s back.

Yu Zhou’s lips pressed against her most vulnerable spot and whispered in response in the midst, “I miss you too.”

Then Su Chang’s repressed desire poured out, almost making her unable to stand.

As they kissed again on the bed, Su Chang asked her, “Can we do it one more time?”

Yu Zhou stroked her face as her expression scattered. She asked, “Now, or, us?”

“Us.” Su Chang looked at her, as if sighing.

Can we do it one more time? Yu Zhou had no energy to refute her.

Su Chang then held Yu Zhou from behind, her hand wrapping around to the front.

When Yu Zhou began to softly call Su Chang’s name, she kissed her behind her ear, saying, “I don’t want to hear ‘Su Chang’, change it.”

“Changchang.”

“Change it.”

“…Susu?”

“Change it again.”

She wanted Yu Zhou to call her the sweet name she had once used.

“Teacher Su.”
