Chapter 16 - 16 Competition

"The second match is a competitive hunt, attacking other competitors is strictly forbidden. Observers will be following each of you to keep count of your score. Should you decide to team up inform the observers following each of you?

All beasts within this forest that will be hunting have gone deranged due to consuming too much demon flesh, they cannot be reasoned with, bribed or threatened. If they see you it will be a fight to the death.

Nearly all of the beasts are at Soldier tier with a few General tiers and one Lord tier. The lord tier beast lives underground and sleeps most of the time. This shouldn't need to be said but I will say it anyway. DO NOT TRY TO FIND OR FIGHT THE LORD TIER, YOU WILL DIE.

Soldier tier will award you one point. The general tier will award you five. If you are battling an opponent you cannot win or run away from telling the Observers and they will assist you. However, you will no longer be allowed to hunt, and can only present the score you have at that time.

You will be given 5 minutes to choose partners. When the horn blows the hunt begins." announced the official.

"hmm, should I team up with someone? I have close combat covered but only one or two moves for long-distance. It will slow me considerably if I have to have a drag-out fight every time. Yeah let's find someone who specializes in long-distance attacks or sneak attacks" Thinks Valoris

"Excuse me, would you be interested in partnering up? I focus on long-distance attacks" said a voice around him.

Turning around he sees that it was Delior who is ranked number 5 on the first event. Delior was a Flame Pheasant. Her stats had been

Name: Delior

Race: Flame Pheasant

Bloodline: Mid blood

Health: below average

Physique: below average

Will: above average

Cultivation: Genius

Potential: 74/100

final evolution: Lesser Fire Phoenix

While she may seem lacking in comparison to the top 4, Delior was the pride of Flaming Winds Tribe after the first event. Born from a low ranking member, she had focused on the only training she could with the small amount of resources she received. Focusing on gaining insights to fire. she had to neglect her body and health.

"You read my mind, I was just thinking I need a long-distance fighter to help me"

"Thank you, I hope we work well together."

As they were getting to know each other a rock bounced off of Valoris's back. Looking back he saw Tarn glaring at him.

" Is there a problem?" asked Valoris

" I'm just surprised they let someone from a tribe of murderers and liars like yours in the competition."

" I assumed this is because of Tremon? there wasn't any murder. It was a fair dual to the death."

" Lies! no way Uncle Tremon could lose to that pathetic snake Mezal. He must have brought some elders to gang up on him" Yelled Tarn

" Watch your tongue! I was there I saw it. Lord Mezal showed up because Tremon had been sending teams into our territory and attacking children and killing low-level members!"

" You were there! I hope you enjoy the time you have left because when we fight in the matches you won't be leaving alive!"

After shouting Tarn walks away.

Awkwardly looking at each other Valoris and Delior shrug and continue talking and strategizing unaware of Rell watching them. She had just gotten back from talking to her father who had confirmed the story. Taking a deep breath she walks over.

"Valoris, I represent the Bloody Fang Tribe is asking for your forgiveness. Please be assured Gerim will be punished harshly for his actions. Clearly, his judgment was off, no way someone who reached your level should have been classified as a Thinblood." said Rell as she approached him.

" No, I was definitely a Thinblood. At first, I could barely breathe. It took me 4 months before I could even talk right. I mean I didn't even have Selena Bloodfangs lineage, that's how little dragon blood was in my body. anyways Delior and I have to strategize so please excuse me" Said Valoris before walking away with Delior.

Rell struggled with feelings of anger and confusion. She had clearly given him a way to make him seem like a heavenly talent from birth who was mistaken and wrongly thrown away. Why would he want to keep his title of being born a Thinblood? She struggled with this until the horn blew.

After the horn sounded, all the contestants hesitated before entering the forest. Various animal sounds of challenges echo throughout the forest putting everyone on edge.

Valoris and Delior's observers were a large jaguar with the darkness element and a crane with the water element. After informing them of their intention of partnering up they headed into the forest.

" Go around and attack it from behind! I will focus its attention on me!" yells Valoris before charging an enraged Dire Wolf.

"Got it!" Said Delior before flying around and taking a deep breath before shooting out a condensed beam of fire at the Dire Wolf.

Valoris had bitten the Dire Wolf by the neck and was holding on when he saw the beam of fire coming. Turning the Dire Wolf so it hits the wolf in the ribs.

With the wolf stunned by the fire, Valoris took the opportunity to bite deeper and shake breaking the wolf's neck. Delior swoops back down and looked at Valoros for confirmation that the first was over.

He nods before saying " That makes number 20 so far. I didn't think about it but you flying also helps us find targets as well. Thank you for your help."

" It was both our effort, no way could I have taken on all of them if you weren't fighting with them"

As they were talking an earth-shaking roar comes from behind them. Turning around they feel the earth shake as something is charging towards them.

Suddenly a massive bear with fur that had a metallic-like shine to it bursts out from the forest. Eyes red with an insane hatred it stared it Valoris, and Delior.

"Valoris..."

" I know, Its General tier"
