Our Hearts Beat For Anne

Chapter 10 - Good day

Anne's pov

Holidays are here, yay!

Who am I kidding, my department wouldn't allow me and my level mates to go for the holidays due to annoying projects and term papers. It was as if we were doing works assigned to our lecturers for them without partaking in the monetary rewards that comes afterwards.

We were stuck in school with few other students running other programmes.

School was basically boring.

My roommates have all left for their homes which had led me close to tears. I was missing my family and they were feeling the same.

Today was the worst, school was getting empty rapidly but I still had two more weeks to spend or should I say waste here.

I came back by three o'clock to an almost empty hostel after the days project ( where we were told to run many tests) entered my lonely room and fell on the bed facing the ceiling.

My phone vibrated and I picked it up and saw a text from Andrew.

Drew:Hey babe

It's been two weeks since the party at John's which gave me massive hangover the next morning. I couldn't remember much that happened but with the way Andrew made fun of me and called me a celebrity whenever we spoke or messaged each other, I knew I had embarrased myself big time and vowed never to consume alcohol again. He had refused to tell me the extent to which I embarassed myself with the believe that I was going to feel worse.

But he promised to tell me when I would feel less humiliated.

He might be seen as a badboy, annoying and stuff but he's a considerate guy and I liked him for that.

I replied to his message

Me: hey

Drew: how's my celebrity doing?

Me: *smiles* am ki nda good

Drew:oh oh...red alert!..am coming to pick you up...get ready.

Me: am ok Drew

No reply

Me: Drewwww!

I jumped out of bed and ran into the bathroom to freshen up.

I picked out a pair of jeans and white top, then wore sandals and waited for Andrew.

I was excited to leave this depressing hostel. Thank God Andrew understood.

He came around three thirty to pick me up.

"You ready."

"I guess, where are we going?"

He hesitated, "my apartment." He drawled

Oh no

"Watching movies and eating pizza of course." He added quickly.

Phew

He must have sensed my uneasiness.

"Unless you want to indulge in other activities."he said wriggling his brows.

I smacked his arm

"Shuss!" I said and he chuckled.

Although we are friends, I still found it a little hard to be alone with him.

"Hey hey," he came and held my shoulders "I know you still feel uneasy staying alone with me and I hate myself for that but I won't force you to trust me or anything, just know I will never make that mistake again."

"Hey, don't get all emotional on me now." I said to lighten the mood.

He laughed and took my hand.

"Let's go!"

We went downstairs and outside.

Lo and behold, he came with his massive power bike and a few people were staring at us.

"Nooo...I ain't going on that."

"Come on, you'll love it. Its exhilarating!"

"No"

"Yes!"

"Noo!"

"Yesss!"

We kept at it until he got tired and dragged me onto the bike.

"Your such a big winnie baby."

The ride on the bike was scary as it was exhilarating. I felt so free.

We reached his apartment and I gaped at the massive building.

"Welcome to my humble abode which I share with my brother." He said gesturing to the house.

"It's beautiful."

He shrugged"yea yea."

I smacked him again and he chuckled again.

We walked up to the door, he unlocked it and we stepped into another world. Atleast, that how I saw it.

The place was breathtaking. The walls were all white with black furnitures. There were huge windows covered with thick dark curtains that kept the light away with the only light coming from the light bulbs giving the room a dark essence. The walls were covered with beautiful paintings from known artists.

"Make yourself at home, look around, I'll be right back."

"Ok."

He went up the stairs and disappeared into one of the rooms.

I was actually itching to look around.

I stood up and walked slowly around the house, taking in the paintings and furnitures.

Just wow

I walked down the hallway, stopping to stare at paintings.

They had a lot of that

I was almost at the end of the hallway when I heard low grunts coming from the last room with the door ajar.

My legs moved and before I could stop myself, I was already standing in front of the door.

My eyes landed on a hard toned back that was moving down and up with sweat running down.

I stood frozen, eyes fixated at the scene before me.

As he moved, the muscles of his back rippled and I couldn't help imagine how the front view would be.

Anne, get a hold of yourself

I snapped out of it and hurried back into the living room where I almost ran into Andrew.

"Hey, whats wrong?"

"Nothing!" I said quickly and in a high-pitched voice.

"You sure? Your face is flushed."

"Am ok."

"Ooook." He said but I could tell he doubted me.

"I've ordered pizza, let's go and select a movie." He said rubbing his palms together.

"You didn't tell me your brother was around." I blurted out.

He stared at me confused, "I didn't know, his car isn't in the driveway. You saw him?"

As if on cue, Vincent walked in shirtless with just track pants and a towel around his neck.

I gulped. This even surpassed my imagination.

"Drew, didn't know you had a friend over. Hello Anne."

I kept my gaze on his face, "hello Vincent."

"Hey bro, didn't know you were home and your car's not in the driveway." That was Andrew.

"Am not on call till tomorrow and my car's at the mechanic."

"Ok, we're going to watch a movie, you can join us."

"Enjoy, am going to take a shower then head up to the study."

"Bookworm."

"Dummy. Nice to see you Anne."

"Same."

They laughed and Vincent left.

Two hours into a very funny movie which had us reeling in laughter, Vincent walked back into the room now putting on a white polo and black track pants.

"Am hungry Drew and Rita didn't come in today, did you order anything?"

Andrew looked up from the solfa, "yea, two hours ago and still nothing. Am gonna call another place."

"I can prepare something." I find myself blurting out again.

Great Anne, just great

They both stared at me.

"What?" I asked.

"You don't have to Anne." Vincent said.

"Am hungry too you know and this dude forget all about food the minute we started watching this movie." I gestured to Andrew who was sniffling away. "If you have groceries, I can prepare something."

"Yay!" Andrew bounced up and down clapping " we have groceries."

Vincent and I laughed.

"Yea we do. Rita, our help restocked before taking the day off." Vincent said.

"Ok."

"I'll help." Vincent said leading me to the kitchen.

"And I'll stay here and finish the movie, you don't need me there, its a complete disaster , trust me."

"Why is that."

"The last time he attempted cooking for us, he almost burned down the whole house." Vincent answered for him and we all laughed.

We reached the kitchen and he opened the refrigerator and the grocery compartment for me to take the things I needed.

Ok, we have noodles, pasta, rice, beans, carrots , vegetables, eggs and a whole lot...pasta it is...here we go!
