Not Like In The Movies

A while ago...

Zhen Zhu kept walking back and forth as she looked at the locked door, wondering how long it would take for Fei Shuang to come home. It's been an hour and a half since she last answered her call. And now, Fei Shuang has not return any of her calls. She kept having a bad feeling that something was wrong. Her body ached to do something,to take some kind of action. Not being able to wait anymore, she left her apartment in search for Fei Shuang.

She had just arrived at the shopping mall and walked to the security man at the entrance. "Hello sir, have you by chance seen this woman today?" She asked, by showing the picture of Fei Shuang to him.

"Yeah, but she left about an hour ago.." He replied.

"Oh...did you see who she left with?"

"No, all I remember was that a woman offered her a taxi and she left in it." Zhen Zhu's expression dropped.

After questioning him further, she realized there was nothing more she'd get from him. He didn't get to see the woman's face clearly. Zhen Zhu thanked him and walked back to her car. She knew Fei Shuang would only accept a ride of someone she trusts. Zhen Zhu decided to call their friends, hoping it was one of them that offered Fei Shuang a ride.

Then everyone said "no". Pan Er said "no". Madam Yang said "no". Even Miss Long said "no" too. She tried calling Fei Shuang's phone again. This time, the number was not reachable. Zhen Zhu decided to go home to check if she'd gone back. When she returned, Fei Shuang was still not there. She waited until nightfall and there was still no sign of her. Then her heart urged her to wait for the next day and report to the police if Fei Shuang did not return. At 1:30 am, Zhen Zhu couldn't fall asleep. She was laying at the couch and staring at the door to see if she'd walk in. Angel was sleeping peacefully beside her. Something in her broke in that moment. The moment of desperation, she couldn't take it anymore.

She got up, went to Fei Shuang's room and looked into the drawers searching for a certain card. After finding it, she dialed the numbers and called but it rang through. She called again and again,no answer. Then, a message appeared on top of her screen.

'Identify yourself, it said.'

'It's your biggest enemy, you thief.' She typed out of the blue.

The phone chirped again. This time,he guessed the right person, 'Shao Zhen Zhu, what a surprise.'

She quickly replied to his message, 'Cut the chit-chat, I need your help to track Fei Shuang.'

'Ok, I'll come over.'

In thirty minutes, the door bell rang and she hurried for the door knob. The moment she opened the door, it revealed a man with familiar looks, carrying happy features on his face.

"Come in." She moved aside, giving way for him to step in. As he did, he got a glance of a dog staring at him.

"Be obedient and Angel won't bite your a*s." Zhen Zhu noticed and chuckled.

Monkey nodded and took a seat.

"What happened to Fei Fei?" He immediately asked, bringing out his laptop and placed it on the center table.

Zhen Zhu went on to explain how Fei Shaung had gone out to the mall and hasn't returned, not returning her calls and the security man claiming she left the mall in a taxi with an unknown woman; with everyone claiming of not knowing her whereabouts. One look on her face and one could tell that she was deeply worried.

"I see. Let's hope nothing bad happened to her." He said, rubbing his forehead. "Tracking her number would be useless since her phone's off. Do you know her phone's iCloud ID?" he asked.

Zhen Zhu blinked at this, but soon enough, she replied, "I don't seem to remember but I'll check her notebook." She got up to fetch it for him.

"Here you go," she said handling it over. "Are you finding it difficult?" Zhen Zhu asked, peering at the the still blank screen.

"Nothing I can't handle. Just you watch."He stated before regaining silence and locating the credentials he needed. After finding it, he logged into an app, entered the credentials and tried rooting the phone.

"You're fast," Zhen Zhu spoke up as he was in the process of finding her location. He reacted with a huge grin.

"It seems like her phone's completely dead but her last phone location shows that she was just a few miles from here,near a filling station." He said, pointing the red dot on the screen." Zhen Zhu's eyebrows knitted.

"Is there nothing else you can do?" Monkey nodded.

"I'm not sure,"he replied with a hum, "As long as the phone chip's not totally destroyed, I can try retrieving it. But it'll take time."

Zhen Zhu's eyes lit up at the mention of that.

"How about this? Sleep over and I'll make some coffee for you. If you can't retrieve the chip, I'll report to the police tomorrow morning."

"I'm okay with that." He accepted her proposal and continued with the retrieving process.
