Not Like In The Movies

"It's none of your business Miss Qu. She's

L1 paraplegic so,there's no conclusion about her condition. We just need to have hope." Li Chu sighed as he kept his gaze on the file he's holding.

"But don't you see that she's suffering from the inside?" Pan Er's brows gathered together. "She deserves to know the truth. Her lumber,sacrum and coccyx were all badly damaged...."

"Speak no more. Let me remind you of your place, you're only her nurse practitioner and nothing else." Li Chu raised his head and looked her in the eye. "I also used to think that telling her the truth would be the best thing to do, but that would make her lose faith. It could even kill her! Don't ever talk to me about this again,understood?"

"Yes....understood." Pan Er shook her head tho,not in disagreement,but more in shock.

How can he say such? She thought he was on her side to tell her the truth,why change his mind so suddenly?

Fei Shuang who was still behind the closed door,got fossilized at the shocking news. The words just tore her heart as she cried internally.

What's all this nonsense,did she heard it right?

No,it can't be true... Life of a paralysis is no fun,she doesn't like it at all and she would appreciate a cure like yesterday...but she's going to be like that for the rest of her miserable life!! Didn't Doctor Xiao tell her that her paralysis was temporary and gave her hope? Was it all just a lie?

A headache was beginning to appear on her head. Everything she just heard was driving her nuts and her mind was in disarray when Pan Er opened the door from the inside.

"Miss Lee..." Pan Er paused in her steps as her eyes widened, "I thought you left for home..." Her eyebrows rosed up,wrinkling her forehead. She was shocked to see the woman at the door. Speaking of the woman and here she was. Did she hear something?

Fei Shuang hesitated for a short while to clear her head,then replied. "I forgot my purse in Mr

Shen's office. I think i dropped it somewhere." She spoke giving Pan Er a signal to make way for her to get in.

"Oh..sorry." Pan Er said,"I should probably get going."

'Let's hope she heard everything!' Pan Er spoke in her mind as she left for her duties. It's best for her to know now or never!

Fei Shuang casually tilted her head as she maneuvered her wheelchair into the office. Li Chu welcomed her with a

calm smile. At the thought of that, Fei Shuang couldn't help but put a fake smile. His smile made her unnerved and uncomfortable since he barely smiles...well,as she observed.

"I'm sorry for intruding your private place without knocking,i dropped my purse in your office and i'm here to pick it up."

She explained and immediately glanced at the office ground to see if she could spot her purse.

"Let me help you with that." Li Chu understandably nod his head and stood up from his chair to offer help.

"Ah,there it is!"

She looked relieved when she spots her purse under the chair sit.

Li Chu squats down and picked it up,then hand it over to her. There was no way she could pick it up herself in her condition.

Fei Shuang looked down at his hand,then at her empty hands as she took the purse from him.

"Thank you. See you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow, take care of yourself."Li Chu replied as he nodded.

"I will." Fei Shuang left after saying that.

After she left,Li Chu sighed in relief. He's sure that she heard something about his conversation with Pan Er. He was all written on her face. He could have stopped her and said "Wait,Doctor Xiao didn't mean to lie to you" or "I'm sorry for giving you false hopes," but he only nodded his head like a coward. He could tell from her face that she knew the truth.

"Huhh....i'll explain everything tomorrow Miss Lee." He took a deep breath and turned his gaze to the window.

Meanwhile at the airport,when the ladies arrived at the hanger, a tall young man greeted at the car,opened their door and escorted them to citation Z. The driver was escorted by another man who helped reload their suitcases. The pilot and flight attendant were waiting for them at the door to greet them, while the co-pilot did preflight checks.

"Seems like we're gonna have so much fun. It's so sad that Fei Fei couldn't make it." Su Ying sighed as she stared at the jet. Zhen Zhu couldn't help but feel sad. She wondered how Fei Shuang's therapy was going.

"Sad indeed." Feng Jiu added as her lips curved downwards. If only that bastard didn't cheat on her bestie,she'll definitely chop his balls when they come back.

Miss White Head,Xiao Lan and Zhao Bai chatted for a minute about flight route and arrival times but Rui Zhe and Jie Liang were too excited to check out the jet to pay attention. They were in the air at exactly 9:00 am.

Once they got to cruising altitude, the flight attendant informed them that the owners which they all knew of course told her that they enjoyed scotch so she stocked up on a few different bottles and asked which they preferred.

Everyone chose his own choice while Zhen Zhu decided to take a nap. She only slept for barely 3 and a half hours and just wanted to sleep.

The rest of the ladies chatted while sipping their drinks. Later,they were served with fast food and a few snacks incase they were hungry.

Hours later..

Zhen Zhu had just opened her eyes when she heard the co-pilot announcing that they were ready to land in a small private field in Singapore.

'Already? That was quick.'

Little did she know that she's been sleeping for 5 hours and 15 minutes.

They landed and a driver was waiting for them on the tarmac. They stepped off the plane and into the suburban that was provided by the airport.

"You'll be taking us to..." Feng Jiu began to give him the adress to the hotel when the driver politely cut her in.

"All necessary information had already been given to me by Young Master."

At Hotel F,

"Wow,no wonder it's rated a 5-star hotel!" Jie Liang glanced at the beautiful scenery in front of her. From the exterior, to the interior,the amenities,the 360° view... It was decorated in a british-era buildings turned museum,giving it a luxurious vibe.

Zhen Zhu couldn't help but gaze at the property too. It had a very good atmosphere,very clean,well polished and near public transit.

After settling at Hotel F and filling their stomachs with good food, the ladies find their way to an upscale spa in the hotel. All female family members from both bride and groom were already present waiting for the the bride to arrive.

First,everyone went to the changing rooms and wore spa robes.

Then, the elderly women went for relaxation and stress management. Some went for sauna and steam rooms while others went to the mud chambers to relax.

Xiao Lan,Zhao Bai and Tian Yi's aunts went for the experience showers to enhance their skin pores with specialized lighting effects.

The ladies picked up some masks,did some waxing to improve appearance and nail polish, and did a DIY spa like they used to in junior high.

Zhen Zhu who just had her wax done, picked up her tablet and decided to make a video call with Fei Shuang.

It rang for a short while before Fei Shuang picked it up. One the other side of the video call, Fei Shuang was in their sitting room wearing a blue night gown with a can of beer in her hand,sitting on the couch when her phone rang. Even when her eyes were blurry, she didn't hesitate to pick it up.

Zhen Zhu couldn't help but ask, "Girlfriend, what's wrong? Why are your cheeks red with stain streak of tears?"

She was shocked to see her bestie in such a situation.

"Nothing..." She replied slowly, "i'm just mood today."

Fei Shuang sighed as she sipped from the can.

"Are you fine?" Zhen Zhu probed as her gazed focused on the beer can Fei Shuang was sipping.

"I'm fine."

Fei Shuang gritted a smile on her face. A crooked smile that didn't belong there and hurt too much to make.

Zhen Zhu was about to ask for more when Rui Zhe jumped out of nowhere and called Fei Shuang by her name, "Lee Fei Shuang! You're missing so much fun and my heart hurts not having you here. We're going to be swimming in di**s in a few hours ba.... Wait,why are you like that?" The grin on Rui Zhe's face disappeared when she carefully observed Fei Shuang. Drinking again?? Was she really missing them that bad that she's in such a terrible situation? Her last sentence grabbed the rest of the ladies attention as they all gathered around them. They were extremely terrified with what they saw.

Someone needs to watch over Fei Shuang before she does something stupid to herself.

"Are you sure?"

"You look really sick."

"Please don't torture yourself,it's not your fault for sitting on that damned wheelchair."

"Take care of yourself."

"Please be safe."

I'm really okay.I just miss you guys a bit and the house feels a bit lonely... The reason why i cried was because i just finished watching a heart breaking scene on tv. So don't worry,i'm really okay." Fei Shuang reassured them that she was alright. Then,she focused her gaze on Rui Zhe and continued, "Be careful not to swim into too many di**s,make sure you use protection otherwise,you know the outcome.

Fei Shuang giggled.

Rui Zhe swiftly replied, "Worry not cos i've got tons of merry go rounds' Tonight's atmosphere is gonna be hot,uh la la. She winked at Fei Shuang with a smirk.

"Gosh i haven't had s*x in a long so i forgot how to m.o.a.n,what if i f**k up and bark?" Jie Liang asked smoothly.

"If you bark,that means you have rabies." The sly smile on Fei Shuang irked Jie Liang.

"Simple." The rest of ladies all said at once and burst into giggles.

And so,the banter followed but it was all fun.

One can of beer turned into four and Fei Shuang was quite tipsy when Zhen Zhu decided to end the call.

Fei Shuang pressed the end button as she flew her phone to the other side of the couch.

Fei Shuang vaulted onto her couch, the pillow hugging her face accepting her torment. Once the first tear got away, the rest followed it, creating a huge pool on her pillow. Her lungs rummaged for oxygen, and her sobbing had the same force of someone drowning. The flesh under her ribcage throbbed, her cheeks once again burned, and her mind created memories and scenarios that made the tears continue till she fell asleep.
