New World's Empress

Chapter 87 - 87. Plan to build a temple

Looking at her dark face Hua Roulan suddenly had an idea. '''Sister, I'm hungry. We are not coming often to town. What do you think we sit in one if restaurants and enjoy some food? Please?"

Liu Mei couldn't continue being angry as she saw two pairs of eyes staring at her in hope. A burst of laughter escaped her lips and she punched their cheeks. "Fine. Let's eat. A full belly is always good."

Lately, she was hungry the whole time and ate enough. As she had lost a bunch of weight doing the praying and her abstaining from most of the food, now she aye more.

That was what she thought. Actually, she still at a little bit but as her stomach became smaller doe the fasting she usually became full after a few spoons of food.

Bit she knew that it was not enough to grow a healthy child so she, at more, even if she felt quite full.

Nearby was a restaurant filled with people. Hua Roulan didn't want even to try to find space between those tables so she went straight to servant and asked about a private room.

But what she gained was a mockery. The servant looked at her attire and smiled at her sarcastically. "Sorry, private rooms are given to people that can afford them.''

She was about to get angry as she heard a female voice behind her. "Oh. The three sisters." When she turned around she saw the woman that bought the bear from them smiling at her.

Hua Roulan looked at Liu Mei." My sister is pregnant and I was worried that someone might unintentionally hit her belly. So I tried to debt a room. Unexpectedly as it seems our money is not good enough."

The woman icily looked at paling waiter and just smirked. ''Since when does my place forbids paying costumers entry?''

The waiter started stammering. ''Nobles eat here and if someone of lower standing eats here as well... I mean... I...''

''You... are... fired.'' Her cold voice was loud enough to make other servants shiver. ''In my place, they will be no separations. The nobles that come here are all scholars that know to connect to commoners. And in private rooms everyone has their own privacy, how would someone disturb others rest? I would kick that person out and blacklisted it, no matter commoner, noble or even royal. Now scram out my place! Guards, drag him out!''

Liu Mei just calmly saw the man being dragged out. She didn't neither comment nor reproach. It is not her problem. But sighed as she saw a bunch of people peeking her way. Her body suddenly felt uncomfortable and she patted her belly.

Looking at her uncomfortable expression Xiao Ran approached the woman and whispered her few words. The woman smiled and whispered back. ''When you are back I will prepare your food. Is there anything you dislike?''

''Fish...'' Liu Mei held her mouth as the whole plate of seafood passed her.

The woman understood and smiled. ''Don't worry. Today everything is on my tab. Last time you did me a service when you sold me that thing.'' She referred at the black bear, but as it seems didn't want others to know.

Liu Mei nodded. ''May I ask you to join us when we come back?''

"I wanted to talk to you anyway. I accept!" With a big smile, she looked at Liu Mei as she descended the stairs to go to private room.

But as soon she couldn't hear her steps, her eyes became ice cold and she looked at curious people. "Not going in? If I hear anyone talking about this I promise your whole family line will be blocked eternally."

Suddenly the hallway became empty and quiet and she looked at her personal maid. "Go down to the kitchen and tell them to prepare the best meals they can think off. But no fish or anything with fish oil." She waved her hand and went inside the room that she will share with them.

Liu Mei, on the other hand, had a rough time. All she ate for breakfast was outside now. She patted her belly and sighed. "As it seems we both will have a rough ride."

Luckily her body was strong after taking every day a glass of water with few drops of that well water. But it still couldn't stop morning sickness. Suddenly grumbling could be heard from her stomach and she laughed.

"You naughty... Chose, you like the food or dislike..." With a smile, she patted her belly, while Xiao Ran smiled at her.

"He must be hungry again. Let's eat." She held Liu Mei's hand and was about to go back upstairs as she saw a man approaching them. First, she wanted to get angry but then recognized his face.

"Commander." Liu Mei respectfully bowed.

"Miss Liu." He bowed as well and saw her pale face. "Is everything fine with you?"

He looked at Xiao Ran and Hua Roulan. "What is wrong with her?"

Liu Mei chuckled. "Just a tiny bit of morning sickness. Luckily I got it now and not while we were travelling. It's a normal thing. It lasts just a few weeks. No big deal. How have you been so far?"

"Well, I was fine." He coughed as he saw her patting her belly. "You should sit down."

She nodded with a smile. "We are going to our room. See you again then."

He bowed again and saw her politely bowing back and moving towards private rooms. Simple commoner? Looking at the way she was walking and talking, it was impossible that she was simple as she seemed.

He walked away as he didn't want to be connected to any messy things, while Liu Mei entered the room.

Looking at the smiling woman she sighed internally. It seems she isn't simple as well.

They sat down and quietly sipped on tea. As the woman saw that Liu Mei had no intention to start, she chuckled.

"Don't be wary of me. I'm am the Emperor's first daughter, princess Sora. My mother was a commoner he met on his travels. He indeed has me princess status, but I'm not as complicated as those from the palace." She smiled at calm girls.

She wondered as she saw their respectful bowing and calmness in their eyes. Not simple at all.

"My name is Liu Mei and these are my sisters, Xiao Ran and Roulan." He introduced them. "As you can see we came from far away place. The reason we are here? Who knows? Deities showed us the way here."

Princess Sora nodded. "I understand. Is there anything I can do for you?"

Liu Mei smiled. "I want to pray bit didn't see any temple nearby. Does this means you have no temples or praying places?"

Sora sighed. "Our country seems to be quite rich, but it's actually not wealthy at all. We have now no ability to build temple even tho we need it."

Liu Mei sighed. "What happened with the money you get from taxes? Never mind, not my problem. Let me think..."

Princes Sora was surprised as she saw her in deep contemplation. What could she think off to make it happen?

Suddenly an idea appeared on her face. "There is a way to set up a temporary temple. But I fear that someone won't get sleep if we do that."

A mischievous smile appeared in her face as she looked at the princess. "When I came here, the first thing I wanted to buy was a house. Among the houses that were free, there is one that was near the main office for the outer city."

A huge smile appeared on Princess Dora's face. "I understand. But how do you plan...?"

Liu Mei nibbled on her lips and light pink appeared on her cheeks as she shyly confessed. "I am good at paintings and house to restructure. There is a person that could do the job quite well and on end, it won't be too expensive."

Princess Sora clapped her hands. "You mean the only house that is literally near the main office?"

Liu Mei smiled. The house that shouldn't be there will be made into a temple. Just thinking about the mess after that...

"But, there will be a huge problem. As it seems, the owner of the office is someone higher up. I fear they will not let that happen." Liu Mei was not sure if it was even possible to redo it if that person gets annoyed.

Princess Sora suddenly had an idea. "Tomorrow in the morning come to that house with the people that will help you restructure. Everything else, leave for me."

As the food arrived and they ate, in the other room sat a flabbergasted man and whispered. "What is going on? What owner of the main office?'

" It seems brother of your concubine is quite... possessive of that place... " A man in simple attire slowly munched on vegetables while his head shook. "This is nice. It was time someone thinks about us, poor monks."

With a big smile, he started eating while the other man's eyes darkened. Does it seem those people think of him as a puppet? He smiled at the young monk in front of him. "Come to the palace tomorrow. I'll give you a present."

A mischievous smile appeared on his lips and monk chuckled. Interesting old man.

Very interesting.
