Chapter 2 – Who is a Raw Melon Egg1?

“What are you thinking about?”

Zu Jin was smiling while watching the boring ceremony, but those who knew her would know that her mind was not there if they saw her.

Sitting next to Zu Jin was a middle-aged man with a strong aura in a dark blue business casual suit.

The two of them have worked on several business ventures together, so they were very familiar with each other.

Zu Jin coughed. She continued to look straight ahead and said in a low voice, “Look at the front on my left. The one sitting with Chief Pan.”

Xu Tianqing took a quick look at the directions she indicated and then instantly looked back.

With interest in his eyes, he said, “That one seems to be an investor, but his specific connections are not clear. Why? What are you going to do?”

Zu Jin slowly took a deep breath.

There was no need to say much about Zu Jin’s ability to do business. In actuality, she was very discerning when it came to investing.

It’s just that as the Qiyu Corporation’s President, the annual salary and shareholder dividends were not as astronomical as what the outside world thinks.

So, whenever she took a fancy to a promising investment project over the years, she would call Xu Tianqing to invest money together. He was a big boss with a good personal relationship with her.

After a few investments, they no longer hesitated to invest together whenever she found an investment.

Because the return on investment was really high!

Thus, don’t be concerned with Xu Tianqing’s enthusiasm at this moment. In fact, from the beginning they weren’t thinking about the same thing.

In the eyes of men like Xu Tianqing, Zu Jin did not have a connection with the wind, flowers, snow, and moon2.

“It’s nothing. Just taking a look.”

Zu Jin casually said some ambiguous words to deal with Xu Tianqing.

Unexpectedly, Xu Tianqing leaned into her ear and whispered, “Supposedly, he threw in a lot of money to come here and network. If there is a little money in the pocket of the raw melon egg, then he doesn’t know how high the sky is or how thick the earth is3.”

As a ‘raw melon egg’ who had just earned the qualification to enter this space to network, Zu Jin suddenly felt like she had been implicated.

She moved aside unhappily. This time she didn’t want to talk to Xu Tianqing at all.

The charity party’s ceremony went on until it was early in the morning. It finally came to an end when someone bought a painting by a deceased painter at a price of more than 10 million yuan.

Zu Jin couldn’t find any investors for the projects she had in mind, so she cut her losses and threw in 300 thousand yuan into the charity.

She took a picture of the bottle of wine brewed by a technology tycoon in an overseas vineyard.

Although she bought it under the name of charity, Zu Jin actually wanted to buy the tycoon’s favor.

If they run into some business matters later, both sides might as well have a connection with each other.

After leaving the banquet hall, Zu Jin immediately shivered from the cold. The early morning temperature was low and the air was damp.

After saying goodbye to the Chamber of Commerce’s executive leadership, and Xu Tianqing and several of his acquaintances, Zu Jin turned to walk towards the chauffeur’s area to be picked up.

Xia Tong saw her from far away and promptly jogged over.

She took the wine from the waiter behind Zu Jin, and the other hand immediately supported her.

Without waiting for Xia Tong to say anything, Zu Jin pointed to the wine she had just received. In a weak voice she said, “Remember to reimburse me!”

Xia Tong cried out, “Lower your voice! Don’t let anyone else hear!”

Outside of the banquet hall, there was only one road to exit the area. Currently, there were too many guests leaving, so traffic was congested for a while.

Their car got stuck in the back. The chauffeur had no alternative but to slowly follow the traffic moving forward.

But Zu Jin became restless very quickly. She was covering her lower abdomen with a hand and she had a somewhat painful expression. Then, she looked at the cars in front from time to time.

The chauffeur asked suspiciously, “President Jin, what’s wrong?

Zu Jin smiled bitterly. “Too much champagne. It’s urgent.”

“Then why don’t I get out first and in the car you……”

This chauffeur had worked for Zu Jin for several years. Besides driving her to and from work, they often went on business trips together. Therefore, there was no need to avoid taboo topics too much in this respect.

Zu Jin looked out of the car window and bit her lips. She was thinking about sayings such as people should not hold their urine until they burst and so on. But she was worried about how there were so many cars outside. If there was any chance that someone saw her, then she would no longer be able to mingle in the elite social circle.

Xia Tong suddenly grabbed her arm. “Jin Jie4, look here. I haven’t even taken a picture of you tonight!”

Zu Jin’s Weibo was always managed by Xia Tong. For such an important party tonight, it was only natural to take a few photos and upload them.

She put on a fake smile and looked at Xia Tong’s cell phone camera. She tried to cooperate, but in the next second, her attention immediately shifted to the man outside of the car window behind Xia Tong.

It was the man who ‘seduced’ her all day. At this moment, he happened to be walking alone on the sidewalk ‘again’.

It was a cold night, so the man put on his suit jacket as he walked.

At the party, she was not able to look at him closely. Now, she was able to gaze at him for a few seconds. Zu Jin discovered that his appearance was a little clearer and more upright than what she had imagined.

He didn’t look like a soft little fresh meat5. However, his appearance, demeanor, and figure were maintained so well that it could be said that he was rare, top-quality meat.

This was really more and more in line with her taste.

Zu Jin reflected so much on these few glances of the scenery just now that she forgot about her urgency.

She even tsked.

Xia Tong was a little frightened by the sudden and strange sound Zu Jin produced. Very carefully she said, “Jin Jie, are you all right?”

After regaining her senses, Zu Jin abruptly said with a serious face, “I’m all right so to speak. I saw an acquaintance and I’ll be taking his car to leave. Don’t worry about me.”

She finished speaking and she got out of the car.

Following the lights of the endless traffic moving forward in the night, she saw the man still walking forward steadily on the side of the road.

Zu Jin breathed a sigh of relief. She was still wearing high heels and she might not have been able to keep up if the distance was too far.

But fortunately, she followed silently for a while and the man stopped besides a small parking spot.

She quickened her pace a bit, while she asked herself: Is it too perverted to do this?

But there was another voice in her head at the same time.

It’s been so many years and this old lady’s heart has finally moved for once!

If she misses it, she will probably be menopausal by the time she meets the next one!

Then what else will she be doing with a man?

Romantic love is used to balance life and it’s a short-term happiness.

Without this happiness, a man who loses emotional support will become the source of all troubles!

Only children are the greatest comfort in old age.

With this truth, Zu Jin was indeed more unwavering as she grew older.

After all, she had so much money that she didn’t want to wait until she had to get married and have children to find a man with similar conditions to make do casually.

So, what else did she have to hesitate about?

Go!

The man already got into the car. However, the traffic was too heavy, so he parked the car in place and didn’t cut into the other cars.

When Zu Jin arrived next to the car, she secretly took a breath. Then, she softly knocked twice on the driver seat’s window.

‘Knock, knock.’

The car window rolled down. From the lights on the road, the man’s clear, round eyes seemed to reflect a faint moonlight. It was so gentle and peaceful that Zu Jin wanted to catch him and firmly massage him with her hands.

‘Knock……knock……knock……’

Zu Jin felt guilty and covered her violently beating chest with her hand. Then, she raised her other hand up and pinned the hair blown around by the night wind behind her ear.

“Hello?”

“Hello.”

The man’s voice sounded so deep and quiet.

Zu Jin slightly smiled. “I’m so sorry for bothering you. My car seems to have a problem and won’t start. Then, I saw you…….if you are on your way, can you give me a ride?”

Zu Jin tried to make her last few words sound as soft as possible. After all, she unexpectedly came up to the man and didn’t want to scare him.

But after she finished speaking, she really wanted to smash her skull!

How could such a clumsy excuse come out of her mouth!

If she didn’t succeed, then tonight would definitely be a dark moment in her life……

The only moment!

Who would have thought that after the man finished listening, he did not hesitate for a second to open the door and get out of the car.

“Where is your car? I happen to have tools. I can take a look at it for you.”

As he spoke, he actually made a gesture to open the trunk.

He looked like a kind, ancient2 man with a warm heart.

Zu Jin quickly turned sideways to block him. “I was too nervous just now, or I may have seen it wrong. Maybe the car was only out of gas. Tomorrow, I’ll get someone to come and check it. Thank you.”

After speaking, Zu Jin looked up at him. The laugh lines around her eyes appeared and she smiled again.

At a distance of less than one meter, she saw the man’s silent face. Somehow, her heart suddenly felt somewhat unsure.

But after they looked at each other for a few seconds, the man nodded at her. Then, he opened the back seat door for her.

“Okay. It’s not easy to get a taxi here. I’ll give you a ride.”

Zu Jin lifted the hem of her dress. She bent down and got into the car with a smile.

The traffic was still slowly moving forward. The man started his car and turned on the turn signal. Then, he looked at the rearview mirror to find an opportunity to cut in.

While Zu Jin sat in the back, she took a quick look around the car’s layout.

In this standard middle-class business car, she didn’t see any small trinkets related to a woman.

Even the scent was just the faint cold smell of the car itself.

After roughly confirming a very key piece of information, Zu Jin let go of more than half of her worry.

“Mister, did you also come from the Chamber of Commerce party? I seemed to have seen you tonight.”

“Yes, I came and socialized a bit.” The man replied softly.

“My name is Zu Jin. What’s your name?”

With that, Zu Jin took out a business card from her small bag and handed it to him in the front.

The man raised his hand and took it. However, he only looked down for two seconds before stuffing it into the car’s drawer.

Immediately after, he also took a business card and handed it to her in the back.

“Nice to meet you. My surname is Yan. My full name is Yan Lin.”

His business card did not have any information on his professional identity. It only had his name and a cell phone number.

The pure white business card looked as simple as the person himself.

Literally.

Zu Jin was not a naive girl. In the end, the identity of a man who could appear here would not be too humble.

But she just felt that the man in front of her would definitely belong to her from now on!

Fate had arrived. Some people could feel it.

This man gave her a rare sense of intimacy.

It was not strange at all.

Tonight was like two people reuniting after a long separation.

The author has something to say:

Yan Lin: From that day on, I became Lady Zu Jin’s manservant.

Zu Jin: You’re my baby too! Muah, muah!
