My Sunshine: Glad To Find You

Chapter 28 - Engagement Party (2)

It was a close family event so no other guests were present but Lincoln and Sophie wanted it to be a special event. Aunt Rachel and Uncle Francis were making sure all the snacks were prepared and the dinner was being made properly. Grandma Blevins and Grandpa Blevins were making sure all the final preparations were being done and all the members have gone to get ready.

"Jacky, why are you running around the place? Go and get ready" Grandpa Blevins urged him.

After what felt like only a few minutes, a servant informed them that cars have arrived.

"Inform everyone that they have arrived," Grandma Blevins told a maid. She instructed a few other maids to prepare the snacks and bring the guests in.

Everyone came down and welcomed them. Grandpa Blevins came forward and hugged Grandpa Parker, Lincoln, Francis, and George gave each other a half hug. Lina, Rachel, and Sophie held hands walked in the living room. Jack and Bruno shook hands with John and welcomed him home.

John seemed a bit distracted. His eyes looked around the room searching for someone, but the person was not anywhere to be seen.

Bruno noticed this and started teasing him, "Can't find her?"

John absent-mindedly replied to him, "She is nowhere to be found" Ughh!

John immediately realized what he had said. Jack and Bruno could not stop laughing at him.

"Brother in law, please be a little patient. You will see her very soon"

They went around the main stage, John went up and stood under the beautiful arch.

The lights dimmed and everyone turned to look at the stairs. At the start of the stairs, a beautiful lady dressed in peach gown stood. She looked like a fairy who had descended from heaven. When the light fell on her, Jessica smiled at them and started coming down. Behind her, her two cousins were also coming down with her.

Her gown was made with a beautiful flowy material that had crystals embedded all over it. As she moved, the flowy material of the dress moved and the crystals glowed when the light fell over them. John was dumbstruck with the view of a descending fairy.

He slowly moved forward towards her, as she approached him. When she reached the edge of the stage, he helped her get on. Never once his eyes left her.

Feeling everyone's eyes on her, Jess felt a little nervous. "Is anything wrong?" She asked John. As if everyone had suddenly been released from a magic spell, they laughed at her question.

Lina: "No dear. You look stunning."

Rachel: "We were captivated by you"

Jess's cheeks tinged red.

John softly whispered to her "You look beautiful"

Jess couldn't stop blushing. "T-thank... you" She barely managed to say the words.

They were under the arch, on the stage. They looked good together.

Lilly gave a ring to Jess and Greta gave a ring to John. They looked at each other. Under the cheers and applause, they put the rings on the ring finger and were finally engaged.

They sat on the sofa on the stage whereas the family members took turns in cl.i.c.k.i.n.g pics. The cousins clicked endless amounts of selfies.

After everything was done they settled in the room and the cousins still surrounded John. It looks like he was gonna have a hard time.

Lilly and Greta asked him a lot of questions about the people he met abroad. Jack and Bruno were more interested in his accomplishments and asked him some business-related questions. He happily answered them. He was the only child of his parents so he never experienced what it was like to be with younger or older siblings. They happily chatted away and had some snacks.

Jess excused herself and went to the restroom. John found a perfect timing to ask more about Jess.

"So what does Jessica like? Favorite food? Hobbies?" He bombarded them with questions. They answered a few questions but left the rest for him to find it out himself.

'I have to figure it out myself'

Soon it was time for dinner, they enjoyed and joked about the childhood memories of the two. The two friends were already close, but now the two families were even closer.

After the eventful day came to an end, the Parker's left for their home.

Jessica wanted to go back to her condo as well but her grandparents wanted to spend more time with her so she stayed back. It seemed that the day had passed to fast for her liking. A lot had happened today. She met her fiance for the first time, agreed to marry him, Come to know his true identity and now was engaged to him.

It was the best day of her life after returning from Sydney. She was very happy and wished for this happiness to last forever.

John was no better than her. He was feeling ecstatic. He was engaged to his first love. His only love, not just first love. He was looking forward to spending his life with her.

The two finally slept dreaming about their happy future with each other.
