Chapter 2 – Part 2 out of 2

Cao An nodded.

The moment she left the barbecue restaurant, Jiang Tao heaved a long sigh of relief. It was terrible; why did Cao An look like that?

Wang Haiyan’s voice came from the phone, a little guilty: “Xiao Tao, have you seen Cao An?” Jiang Tao was aggrieved: “Yes, Ms Wang. You lied to me.”

If she has seen the thirty-year-old Cao An’s photo, she would never agree to this blind date.

Wang Haiyan said, “Hey, didn’t you cry? I’m sorry. I’m sorry. But Xiao Tao, listen to my explanation. Cao An is a very good person. He was born like that. His father and grandfather have this kind of face. When they sit together, they look like triad members. When my cousin first got married, I was also taken aback but got used to it after getting along with her for several years.”

Jiang Tao listened absent-mindedly. If she looked up, she would see herself reflected in the glass next to her. Her lips had already faded, and she had unconsciously pouted.

“Xiao Tao, do you still remember that I said that Cao An has no friends because of his stupid mouth? In fact, he is not stupid. He is very polite, but others are afraid of him. Since he was a child, no classmates have been willing to play with Cao An. When he graduated, the girls avoided him. We introduced him to a blind date and showed the real photos to the woman. None of them wanted to meet. When using side profile pictures to fool the ladies for a blind date. The women were unwilling to continue contacting Cao An after a meal,” Wang Haiyan explained.

Jiang Tao still pouted.

She could understand those women who rejected Cao An very much because she also wanted to run away immediately.

“Xiao Tao, for my sake, you should accompany Cao An to finish this meal anyway. He has been despised too many times and has resisted blind dates for the past two years. If you behave too obviously, I am afraid that he will hurt his self-esteem, so I dare not try again in the future,” Wang Haiyan said.

“Don’t worry, since I am here, I will finish this meal,” Jiang Tao replied.

It would be too impolite to really run away.

Okay, then you guys eat first; let’s talk about it later,” Wang Haiyan said before hanging up.

After the call was over, Jiang Tao put away her phone and turned her gaze to the barbecue restaurant that was already some distance away.

She wasn’t afraid that the blind date partner was ugly, nor was she afraid that the blind date partner was annoying. With Cao An’s big face, she was really scared to death.

Jiang Tao still wanted to calm down again, and there was a new message on WeChat.

“I’m sorry about the photo. I can understand your feelings. It doesn’t matter if you leave now. I will explain this to the head nurse. You don’t have to worry about your work being affected,” Cao An wrote.

Jiang Tao looked at the message with complicated emotions.

Before meeting Cao An, she would have thought that he was really polite and a gentleman, but now, she couldn’t imagine how he typed these words with such a face.

He was polite, and Jiang Tao couldn’t be rude and replied, “I’m fine. I’m just scared by your aura.”

“Yes, very few people are not afraid of me,” Cao An replied.

“I just finished the phone call, and I’ll be right back,” Jiang Tao said.

“Good,” Cao An replied.

Two minutes later, Jiang Tao sat opposite Cao An again. She just smiled and looked at Cao An, exhausting all the courage she mustered outside and not daring to look him in the face again.

Cao An handed over the menu. “I chose a few signature dishes. See if there is anything you like. And I haven’t ordered any drinks yet.”

Jiang Tao took the menu and found that Cao An had already ordered six barbecues.

She picked up a glass of orange juice and returned the menu to Cao An. “That’s enough.”

Cao An ordered two more pumpkin porridges and a fruit platter.

The waiter took the menu and left.

Jiang Tao couldn’t keep staring at the table and tilted her head, pretending to appreciate the interior decoration of the store.

She was wearing a beige coat with a white sweater underneath, and her long curly hair hung down her shoulders. She looked very obedient when she was quiet.

Cao An’s gaze quickly swept across her smooth forehead, slender nose bridge, and pink lips, across her fair cheeks and neck, and finally settled on her eyes, indicating that she still dared not look him in the face.

He hadn’t been on a blind date for a long time. No girl dared to approach him, and Cao An never worried about it. Desires could be solved by hand, and there were other things to do in leisure time. Love was not necessary for him.

A few years ago, he agreed to a blind date just to deal with the elders who cared about his marriage. Cao An was disgusted by those women, and he never tried to keep any of them.

His cousin happily came to him and asked him to see the new nurse in their department. In addition to the work card, there was also a video of Jiang Tao joking with other nurses on the aunt’s mobile phone.

""

In Cao An’s eyes, Nurse Jiang was really like a small peach – sweet and plump, tender and attractive.

Jiang Tao looked around the decoration, and she noticed that Cao An seemed to be looking at her out of the corner of his eye. She became more nervous and picked up the glass containing lemonade.

When she put down the glass, Cao An asked: “I heard that you have worked in the capital for two years. Why did you come back?”

Jiang Tao explained to the glass: “I was raised by my grandmother, and now that my grandmother is old, I want to come back for her.”

Cao An asked: “How old is your grandma?”

Jiang Tao replied: “Seventy.”

“At this age, she really needs someone to accompany her. How is her health?” Cao An asked.

Jiang Tao smiled: “It’s quite tough. She often goes square dancing.”

Cao An asked: “Our old man is in his eighties, and he is in good health. He likes to go fishing by the lake.”

He handed over his mobile phone again, which contained a video of old man Cao preparing fishing tools.

The old man’s hair was grey, and his face and facial features were carved out of the same mould as Cao An’s. It was only because of his age that the aura of the black boss had weakened a lot, but he could still be seen as a very dignified old man.

Jiang Tao worked hard to liven up the atmosphere: “You guys look alike.”

Cao An opened a photo of three generations of grandparents and grandchildren.

The effect was equivalent to three black bosses staring expressionlessly at Jiang Tao.

Jiang Tao: …

She just said it casually. He really didn’t need to show it to her!
