On the second day, the sun was shining brightly, and the morning light filled the room through the window. On the messy bed, Cheng Qing’s eyelids fluttered as she woke up slowly.

Once fully awake, Cheng Qing felt much better, a sign that she had recovered.

She touched her forehead and realized her fever was gone. Cheng Qing smiled and sat up, glancing at the bedside to find that Luo Xi had already woken up before her.

“Did I oversleep?” Cheng Qing checked the alarm clock on the bedside since her phone was taken away. It was exactly 8 o’clock, not too early, not too late.

Cheng Qing got up, changed into new clothes, and tied up her long hair.

As she went downstairs, she saw everyone setting the table.

Cheng Qing was surprised, “Why is there no milk today?” Usually, they had two people taking turns to cook meals every week, but they normally only cooked lunch and dinner.

In the morning, they would just have milk, as making breakfast required waking up early and having culinary skills.

Liu Suoyu looked up at her and saw Cheng Qing dressed in a thin gray sweater and white wide-leg pants, her long hair neatly tied up, giving her a casual and gentle appearance.  

He smiled and said, “Luo Xi told me you just recovered, so she made some porridge for you.”

Cheng Qing was surprised and looked towards the kitchen. Just then, she saw Luo Xi coming out with a large pot, wearing oven mitts.

Luo Xi had her curly hair tied back, wearing a long pink hoodie and black cropped pants, looking young and beautiful.

Seeing Cheng Qing coming down, Luo Xi’s face lit up, “Teacher Cheng, are you awake?”

Cheng Qing took a bowl of porridge and found it delicious. With the addition of lily bulbs, the porridge tasted sweet, and the combination of lily bulbs and lotus seeds gave it a soft and chewy texture.

After finishing the bowl of porridge, she felt warm all over. Luo Xi also prepared pancakes and other dishes. After everyone finished eating, they all praised Luo Xi’s breakfast.

Once breakfast was over, the others started cleaning up the dishes. Luo Xi went to the living room with a happy expression. When she sat on the sofa, she noticed Cheng Qing had already come to stand in front of her.
