Chapter 8 : Being Angry

Today, Miao Xingyao went to the market as soon as she got off work because she received a message from Yu Jingxuan saying that he would be home for dinner tonight.

Last time, because it was so sudden, Miao Xingyao couldn’t even cook the dishes that Yu Jingxuan liked to eat.

Yu Jingxuan liked meat but would not eat fish. He did not like green vegetables much and liked gourds. These were all things that Miao Xingyao had learnt about in high school.

“You’re back.” Hearing the sound, Miao Xingyao called out from the kitchen.

“Hmm.” Yu Jingxuan walked over to see what Miao Xingyao was cooking.

They are all dishes that I like, Yu Jingxuan thought to himself.

“Do you want another bowl of rice?” Miao Xingyao asked as she stood up to go and serve the rice.

“Mmm.” Yu Jing Xuan handed the bowl to Miao Xingyao.

Miao Xingyao was happy, it proved that Yu Jingxuan liked her cooking. If the food was not good, Yu Jingxuan would only eat one bowl of rice.

Yu Jingxuan looked at Miao Xingyao’s back in disbelief. They hadn’t spent much time together, but why did he always feel that Miao Xingyao could always be able to keep up with him? Is it because they like the same things, is that why?

However, Yu Jingxuan still felt that something was wrong. He searched the internet today for the name “Miss Fei Tian”, which was the name left in the letter Miao Xingyao wrote to him in high school.

He actually found a few articles, and because he didn’t have time at work, Yu Jingxuan printed them off and now they are in his bag. But why would he want to read them? Perhaps it was because he also wanted to know more about Miao Xingyao.

After dinner, Yu Jingxuan locked himself up in his study as usual. Yu Jingxuan had taken out the article by “Miss Fei Tian” from his bag and was reading them with great interest. Her article was very interesting, and before he knew it, Yu Jingxuan had already curled the corners of his mouth, when he heard a knock at the door.

Yu Jingxuan hastily pressed the article under a book, blocked the rest with his hand, and spoke, “Please come in.”

“I wonder if you would like some fruit.” Miao Xingyao carried a plate of oranges.

“Ah, thanks.” Oranges, too, were his favourite fruit.

Miao Xingyao walked in, placed the oranges on the table and asked, “Are you busy?”

“No, reading a book.” Yu Jingxuan smiled.

“Oh.” Miao Xingyao pulled out a packet of wet tissues from her body and handed it to Yu Jingxuan, saying, “Wipe your hands before you eat.”

“Okay.” Yu Jingxuan took the wet tissues with one hand.

Miao Xingyao saw the book Yu Jingxuan had placed on the table and asked curiously, “Do you also like this author’s books?”

“Author? Which author.” Yu Jingxuan’s hand unnaturally blocked the paper pressed under the book.

“It’s this author.” Miao Xingyao pointed to the name on the book.

“Ah this one, yeah.” Yu Jingxuan looked down before he saw which book he was holding.

Miao Xing Yao felt strange but didn’t ask more and said, “Then take your time and be careful not to spill it on the book, I’m going out first.”

“Well, thank you.” Yu Jingxuan said.

“No worries.” Miao Xingyao smiled and shook her head. The rest of her eyes saw the title of the paper pressed under the book, a title Miao Xingyao was most familiar with as it was the article she had been currently posting in series.

“What’s wrong?” Yu Jingxuan saw Miao Xingyao freeze. The direction her eyes were looking at, seemed to be ……

Miao Xingyao pointed at the paper and asked, “Senior, how did you get this article?”

“This…one I was recommended by a colleague at the company today.” Yu Jingxuan averted his gaze somewhat stiffly.

“…” Miao Xingyao said with a smile, “Is that so.”

Then Miao Xingyao left the study, and the door of the study was closed extremely loudly by her. Yu Jingxuan really can’t lie. Does he really think I’m stupid?

Yu Jingxuan is a bit at a loss. He could hear that just now Miao Xingyao’s voice was without laughter, and just now the behavior, it was…anger?

Miao Xingyao, who had left the study, hugged the newly bought pillow and nestled in the sofa and looked straight at the TV. However, the content of the TV was not interesting at all.

After a while, Miao Xiaoyao scratched her hair, how could she lose her temper like that. However, it was really embarrassing for her article to be seen by the person she longed for, and she had no confidence in herself. She didn’t know why she was angry, but she had told Yu Jingxuan not to read it. But he had read it anyway, and that was why she was angry, she thought to herself.

But the question was, would Yu Jingxuan be able to find out that she was actually angry? Miao Xing Yao looked at the closed door of the study again, Yu Jing Xuan would not care about things that were not important to him, or even if he found out, he would not think it was a big deal. He had not done anything wrong, maybe it was a coincidence and he did not even know that the author of the novel was her? He must have thought it was inexplicable, that she was being unreasonable… ahhhhhhh. What if that was the case?

Ah, how on earth did he find her article! Yu Jingxuan would never have gone through her stuff, that much Miao Xingyao was sure of. But how on earth did he know? Miao Xingyao thought that things could not be so coincidental.

Her penname, Miao Xingyao suddenly thought, had been her own penname in her letters to Yu Jingxuan. But would he have remembered the signature on the few letters from so many years ago? Miao Xingyao felt that her encouragement was so insignificant that it could not have made a lasting impression on Yu Jingxuan. At the time, she knew that this would be the case, but she still wanted to give him a piece of her strength.

If that was the case, Miao Xingyao suddenly felt a little touched, but it wasn’t about that today! She had no confidence at all in showing her article to Yu Jingxuan. It was without her permission, so she was not at fault! Miao Xingyao thought indignantly.

“Click.” At that moment, the door of the study opened, Miao Xingyao hurriedly withdrew her gaze and stared at the TV without expression.

Yu Jingxuan came out with a clean plate and swept a glance at Miao Xingyao, finding her staring at the TV as if nothing was wrong. He wondered if he was wrong and Miao Xingyao wasn’t angry at all.

Yu Jingxuan washed the plates and put them in the cupboard, then glanced at Miao Xingyao again, who was still staring at the TV as if she had not budged a moment ago.

She seemed to be fine, but this was a bit unusual Yu Jingxuan thought, and lifted his feet to go back to the study.

Suddenly Yu Jingxuan realised that what was playing on the TV was a commercial. Miao Xingyao couldn’t have been watching the commercial so intently, could she?

Miao’s mind was indeed not on the TV, she was so focused on Yu Jingxuan that she didn’t know what was on the TV.

When Yu Jingxuan returned to the study, Miao Xingyao was relieved and felt even more angry.

She was angry! Yu Jingxuan thought this way, what was to be done? Yu Jingxuan smiled bitterly, he had little experience in coaxing girls.
