Chapter 7 : Coming back

Miao Xingyao was cooking in the kitchen when she suddenly heard a noise coming from the living room and came out cautiously with a spatula, wondering if it could be a thief.

“What are you doing?” Yu Jingxuan stood expressionlessly behind Miao Xingyao.

“Ah-ah!” Miao Xingyao was so shocked that she fell to the ground and said, “So it was you. I thought it was a thief.”

“A thief is something you can deal with by holding a spatula, right?” Yu Jingxuan laughed and reached out to pull Miao Xingyao up.

Miao Xingyao thought about it, but still, put her hand on Yu Jingxuan’s hand, stood up and immediately let go of his hand, saying, “Thank you.”

“No problem.” Yu Jingxuan threw down two words and walked away.

“Hey.” Miao Xingyao called out to Yu Jingxuan, “Have you eaten yet? Do you want me to make some for you as well?”

“Sure.” Yu Jingxuan nodded his head.

“Is there anything you won’t eat?” Miao Xingyao asked again.

“No.” Yu Jingxuan said, “I’ll go to the study first, call me when dinner is ready.”

“Ok.” Miao Xingyao watched Yu Jingxuan return to the study. She felt the lingering smell of Yu Jingxuan on her hands when suddenly there was a sound from the kitchen, “Ah! My soup!”

Miao Xingyao immediately returned to the kitchen. Yu Jingxuan heard Miao Xingyao’s exclaim, thinking that it was good to have a lively family.

At dinner, Miao Xinyao sat opposite Yu Jingxuan, and the two of them ate their meal without saying a word to each other.

“Senior, is it to your liking?” Miao Xingyao asked tentatively.

“Yes, it’s quite delicious.” Yu Jingxuan nodded his head.

Miao Xingyao was satisfied. It seemed that Yu Jingxuan’s taste was still the same as before. He liked to eat light and didn’t like anything too sweet, instead, he liked to eat sour things.

“Senior, would you like some fruit later? I’ve bought grapes.” Miao Xingyao asked again.

“Good.” Yu Jingxuan said.

She had bought the grapes because she wanted to give them to Yu Jingxuan if he happened to come back one day. He liked grapes.

“I met Mr Ye Shaosi today.” After a while, Miao Xingyao said.

“Oh? You know him?” Yu Jingxuan asked as if there was nothing wrong with it.

Miao Xingyao nodded and said, “I’ve heard of him when I was in high school.”

“Hmm.” Yu Jing Xuan responded.

“That he wants to introduce me to you. Should I tell him about it?” Miao Xingyao observed Yu Jingxuan’s expression. He wasn’t frowning and didn’t seem to be unhappy.

“He knows you?” Yu Jingxuan asked.

Miao Xingyao thought, Yes, Yu Jing Xuan had only met her a few times in high school, so of course, he wasn’t sure about the matters in between. “He’s the director of our company now. He said he met me in high school and said he wanted to introduce me to you.”

“Oh, you don’t have to go and tell him. I will tell him myself, or you don’t want him to know?” Yu Jingxuan gave Miao Xingyao a look.

Miao Xing Yao hurriedly shook her head and said, “Senior Ye is your friend. I simply don’t know what you’re going to say about our relationship.”

“Tell the truth.” Yu Jingxuan chucked a piece of meat into Miao Xingyao’s bowl and said, “Aren’t you going to eat?”

“Eat!” Miao Xingyao picked up her bowl and picked up her rice, not knowing why she was a little happy.

After the meal, Miao Xingyao knocked on the door of the study and brought in the fruit.

Yu Jingxuan wasn’t working. He was just sitting on top of the chair behind the table reading a book. It was a business owner’s chair, and Yu Jingxuan was half lying on it. It couldn’t be more relaxing.

“Thank you.” Yu Jingxuan glanced at Miao Xingyao.

“Am I disturbing you?” Miao Xingyao asked.

Yu Jingxuan said indifferently, “No.”

“Hmm.” Miao Xingyao wanted to ask a lot more, but she did not dare to speak.

Miao Xingyao stood on tiptoe and drew a book from the bookshelf and was about to go out, but Yu Jingxuan called out, “You can read it in the study.”

“Can I?” Miao Xingyao asked uncertainly.

Yu Jingxuan laughed lightly and said, “This is also your home. What are you doing being so formal? You can read wherever you want.”

“Oh, oh, Okay!” Miao Xingyao nodded her head and sat down on the sofa.

This was a novel. Miao Xingyao had read it many times. However, every time she would be moved by the story inside, there was no other way, who asked her to be a sentimental woman?

Yu Jingxuan noticed the serious face of Miao Xingyao in the light. He could even read the plot of the book on her face, which was very cute. Thinking of this, Yu Jingxuan stood up and sat down on the sofa opposite Miao Xingyao.

Perhaps because Miao Xingyao was so earnest, she didn’t even notice that Yu Jingxuan had come over. At the end of the story, Miao Xingyao looked up to move her muscles. But she suddenly found Yu Jingxuan across the room.

Miao Xingyao almost fell off the sofa. Yu Jingxuan raised his head to look at Miao Xingyao and asked, “Are you all right?”

“I’m fine. You came over so suddenly?” Miao Xingyao asked.

“This side is more comfortable.” Yu Jingxuan lied without even thinking about it. He could not explain his impulsiveness just now.

“Ohhh.” Miao Xingyao thought about it. The couch was definitely more comfortable.

“What are you reading?” Yu Jingxuan asked.

“It’s this author’s book.” Miao Xingyao turned the cover of the book over to Yu Jingxuan to see.

Yu Jingxuan examined it for a moment and asked, “You like this author’s books?”

“Well, very much, she is my role model.” Miao Xingyao smiled.

“Your dream?” Yu Jingxuan raised an eyebrow.

Miao Xingyao froze. It was the first time she had revealed her dream in front of others. She didn’t dare to say it even if it was Su Hanyu because she felt that others would laugh at her if she told them about it.

“Hmm.” Miao Xing Yao nodded gently, “I want to be a writer.”

“Any work yet?” Yu Jingxuan asked, remembering the letters from years ago. The characters were beautiful, the writing was good, and you could see the intention of the person writing the letter.

“Just…posted a few unnamed novels in the blog.” Miao Xingyao said shyly.

Yu Jingxuan asked again, “Can I read them?”

“Ah! Not very good.” Miao Xingyao bowed her head. She really did not have the confidence to show Yu Jingxuan her novels.

“So.” Yu Jing Xuan also stopped asking questions and said, “Then what kind of work do you do now?”

“Doing copywriting.” Miao Xingyao smiled.

“Being a copywriter would be a good fit with our company.” Yu Jingxuan said with one hand cupping his chin.

Miao Xing Yao looked at Yu Jing Xuan and asked, “What about your job?”

“Oh, I work in a game company as a….” Yu Jingxuan hesitated for a moment and said, “Programmer.”

“That’s right.” This was the Yu Jingxuan that Miao Xingyao did not know. She did not know where Yu Jingxuan had studied at university, nor was she sure what he had studied, nor did she know what his dream was.

When Yu Jingxuan saw that Miao Xingyao had stopped talking and continued reading, a name suddenly came to his mind. That was the name on the letters. This name could not be Miao Xingyao’s pen name, right? Yu Jingxuan peeked at Miao Xingyao, thinking that Miao Xingyao would not be the one who changed her pen name, so perhaps he could look it up?
