Lyricist: Her Revenge

Chapter 87 - Millie

A delicate smile christened her face as she walked up to the window in her office. Eddie peeked out of her window & saw Jake waving at her. He was still in his army getup. A month ago, he had joined the military. Eddie was extremely proud of him. Both of them smiled brightly at each other.

Yeah, this one month felt like an eternity for the two of them. Eddie ran out of her room, like an arrow that had been released from its bow. She flew across the corridor, raising many eyebrows. She stormed down the stairs and ran into Jake's arms. The violet-orange evening sky was a perfect background for the two of them. After being in each other's embrace for a while, Eddie looked up at his handsome face and smiled. Jake smiled back. She placed her hand on his cheek & c.a.r.e.s.sed it gently, like if she was handling a wax doll. The next moment, she tiptoed and planted a kiss on his lips. Jake smiled brightly before he placed his palm on her neck in an attempt to keep kissing her.

He slowly devoured her lower lip while she had his upper one. The scene was the one to behold. Especially, since a girl was deeply in love with a soldier. Passersby admired the couple. When their lips parted, she leaned her forehead on his.

Jake couldn't conceal his smile. He spoke in a husky voice, "I feel like I am the happiest guy in the world."

"Me too", Eddie whispered as her voice carried a hint of a smile, "I love you."

"Mmm...I love you too!"

At the entrance of the grand building, a shadowy figure gritted her teeth with anguish.

"Love you", Millie hissed, "Like hell!"

Her c.h.e.s.t heaved up & down with hatred as she turned back & leaned on the wall with her back.

"Let's go for now", she heard Jake say.

"Mmm," Eddie said, "Wait! I need to get my sketchbooks. I will call Millie to get them. Wait for a while.

Hearing the words, Millie quickly rushed towards the stairs. As soon as she completed the first set of stairs, her phone rang.

'La la la.'

She halted in her steps & picked up the call, "Hello!"

"Millie?" Eddie's cheerful voice rang out, "Can you bring out my sketchbooks from my room?"

"Sure", Millie replied in a mechanical voice.

She ended the call & gripped hard on her phone as she made her way upstairs. Soon, she was standing in front of Eddie's office. The nameplate showed: Chief Designer, Eddie Adley

Millie pushed open the door & the bright sunrays blinded her eyes. Maybe, the stairway was too dark for her. She saw several sketchbooks spread across the table. She grabbed each of them & walked out of the room. Several people saw her on the way.

...

Jake was getting impatient, "Where did this Millie of yours disappear?"

Eddie was about to coax him when she heard a voice, "Ma'am."

She turned and a bright smile appeared on her face, "Millie, come here."

Millie walked robotically & greeted Jake, "Hello, sir."

The look on Jake's face changed. Doubt & confusion found a place on his face. He nodded, somewhat absent-mindedly.

Eddie spoke, "Thanks, Millie."

Millie nodded, handed the sketchbooks & turned back to go away. Jake's complicated gaze followed her retreating back. Eddie noticed the confusion in his eyes & she smiled.

"This girl?" Jake questioned.

"Oh!" Eddie smiled, "That's Millie. She joined us a few days back."

Jake nodded absent-mindedly as he made Eddie sit on the passenger seat beside him.
