Lyricist: Her Revenge

Amy was currently sitting at D.K.'s apartment browsing through the number of photos taken all over the years she thought he was away. She was a bit stunned & confused at the same time. Suddenly, she slammed the tab hard on the table, "I don't believe this. It could be done by any paparazzi. I don't remember seeing you at the hospital corridor."

"Then, do you remember this?" D.K. suddenly leaned forward & planted a kiss on her neck.

Amy froze on the spot & her thought traveled back to 5 years ago.

On one fateful night, she had stayed back at his home after studying because it was pouring heavily. They were in a relationship already but it progressed to holding hands & walking together. That night, in the spur of the moment, D.K. had kissed her on her neck, & ended up doing the unwanted thing.

Had she studied science, a bit more, she would have known that fertilization within a day. Two months later, she came to know that she was pregnant. She wanted to abort the child, but her Grandma refused to let her do it. Even, D.K. supported her & they had already registered their marriage when she was 3 months pregnant. But, during the 8th month, he had disappeared suddenly.

Her grandmother brought her up single-handedly as her parents died in a car accident when she was one year old. So, she held onto the little life inside her, even though during the tough times. But, D.K. disappeared mysteriously & and after five years, he was here to claim paternal rights on her daughter! She would never allow it. Never!

She rudely pushed him away, "I don't care about those photos. You have no right on my daughter."

"Your daughter?" D.K. chuckled as he steadied himself, "Without me, she wouldn't be here? I'm your husband!"

"So what?" Amy bellowed, "You left us when we needed you the most!"

"Trust me", his voice became hoarse, "You know my Dad? He forced me to leave you! He threatened me!"

"Threatened you?" Of course, she knew about his father. He was a cold-blooded criminal, charged with murder & [email protected] cases. He even tried raping her once! She heaved a sigh before she stood up. Seeing her, D.K. again spoke, "He threatened to kill you & our unborn child. So, I left the country, but came back in disguise during your delivery."

Hearing the word 'our', it tugged at her heartstrings. She sighed again & with closed eyes she spoke, "I trust you. But, believe me, it's not possible between us, anymore. I know that you are my husband in paper & ink, but..."

D.K. nodded emotionlessly, the color drained of his handsome face. Amy walked towards the entrance, "I shall take my leave now."

"Wait", D.K. called back & his rhythmic footsteps could be heard. Amy stopped in her tracks without turning back.

"Can I hug you?" D.K. spoke from behind her. Before she could respond, he pulled her for a bear hug.

"Hey!" she whispered loudly.

"Don't move", his mellow voice resonated in her ears, "Please?"

Amy froze & kept still for a while. When she felt that he had no intention to move back, she pushed him away & moved swiftly to the door. She stopped at the door, "I am leaving."

She opened the door & left, leaving D.K. with a silly smile on his face.
