Chapter 15: Holding Hands

“Come here,” Luo Yichen said again.

Qu Ling’er blinked and walked to the door, looking at Luo Yichen.

“Give me your hand,” Luo Yichen said.

Hearing this, Qu Ling’er was taken aback and did not move.

When Luo Yichen saw that the lass had frozen again, he reached out and grabbed Qu Ling’er’s right hand.

Qu Ling’er felt a jolt of electricity pass through her. She let him pull her finger and place it on the fingerprint identification area of the door lock.

“Beep…”

With the verification sound, Qu Ling’er’s fingerprint was recorded into the security access system.

Qu Ling’er turned to look at Luo Yichen. The two of them were standing very close. She looked at him and suddenly felt a sense of warmth in her heart. He bent down and looked at the fingerprint lock in a serious manner.

“Alright, done!” Luo Yichen let go of Qu Ling’er’s hand and closed the door. “Try it.”

As he spoke, he could not help but look at Qu Ling’er’s hand. Her hand was so small and soft. Holding her hand, he felt something that he had never felt before.

Qu Ling’er knew what he meant and pressed the fingerprint lock. The door opened with a crisp sound.

“Great.” Luo Yichen opened the door and entered the house with Qu Ling’er.

Qu Ling’er looked at the shopping bags piled up on the shoe cabinet and said to Luo Yichen earnestly, “Thank you.”

“Mm,” Luo Yichen said faintly. “Go take a shower after you’re done unpacking. I’ll be at the gym for a while exercising.”

“Alright.” Qu Ling’er nodded and picked up the shopping bags.

Luo Yichen said, “I bought some snacks. Take them with you.”

Qu Ling’er was overwhelmed. “Thank you, Brother.”

Luo Yichen did not respond—turned around—and went to the gym. When he reached the door, he turned around and said, “Use the bathroom in my bedroom. The shower head in the guest bathroom is broken and hasn’t been fixed.”

“Got it.” Qu Ling’er nodded meekly. She took the clothes she bought into the study and unpacked them. Then, she took a new set of clothes and went to Luo Yichen’s bedroom.

Half an hour later, Qu Ling’er came out of the bedroom after her shower. She placed the shirt she had changed out of beside the laundry basket and planned to wash it later. She had no intention of returning to the Qu family, so she had bought all her clothes—inner and outer wear—during her shopping in the afternoon. She had wanted to wash her new clothes before wearing them. But owing to the exceptional situation now, she could only make do with them. She wore a big and loose T-shirt—that could double as pajamas and casual wear—with a pair of sports pants under it, like loungewear. She went to the water dispenser to get a cup of warm water—with a disposable paper cup from the cabinet in the dining room—and was about to drink it when she heard a sound behind her. She instinctively turned around and was frozen

Luo Yichen came out of the gym, wearing a tank top and shorts. His body was covered in sweat, and his messy hair stuck to his forehead. He looked incredibly charming.

Qu Ling’er stared blankly. She had never cared about appearances; but now, three words flashed inside her head: Wow, so handsome!

Luo Yichen looked over and was equally stunned when he saw Qu Ling’er.

The lass had just taken a shower. Her hair had been blown dry and was draped loosely over her shoulders. Her loose clothing looked very comfortable. He then looked at the paper cup in the lass’ hand—frowned—and then walked straight over.

Qu Ling’er watched as Luo Yichen got closer and closer to her. Her heart raced and she instinctively took a step back. What… What was he trying to do?

Luo Yichen stopped in front of Qu Ling’er and reached out to take the cup from her hand. “Don’t use disposable cups. I’ll get you a cup.”

He then found a cute mug from the cabinet by the side and handed it over. “This mug is new. Wash it before using.”

Qu Ling’er took the mug and blushed. “Thank you.”

Luo Yichen laughed. “Do you know how many times you’ve thanked me today?”

“Qu Ling’er: “…”

Luo Yichen ruffled her hair and said, “Don’t thank me anymore.”

He was much taller than her. Qu Ling’er felt a gentle rub on the top of her head, as if she was a pet getting a pat. She blushed, right up to her ears and neck.

Luo Yichen could not help but touch her when he saw her being so docile, just like a kitten. He retracted his hand and turned around coolly to return to his bedroom.

Qu Ling’er stared dreamily at Luo Yichen’s departing figure. She touched her burning ears and cheeks, trying to wake herself up. Then, she took the mug and went to the kitchen.

Luo Yichen was greeted by a unique scent when he went to the bathroom. It seemed to be a combination of the lass’ unique scent and the smell of shower gel. It was very pleasant. His eyes dimmed slightly—he seemed to have made too many exceptions for her.
