Loving A Triple Threat

Chapter 45 - Court Drama

Misha stood and cheered loudly as Seok ran onto the court for the first time. She sat back down next to Gi and excitedly exclaimed, "He's finally getting his chance." Then more thoughtfully she wondered out loud, "What happened to change the coach's mind? He never played him before and it's the finals now."

Gi didn't care and she wasn't sure what was happening. Her basketball knowledge was limited at best. At least the scoreboard told them who was winning. Daeil was down by ten points.

"I don't think they can win," Suzie stated seriously. When Hyuk got the ball, she clapped and sat on the edge of her seat. "But it's nice to watch your boyfriend play."

Gi laughed. Suzie liked the game much more than she expected. Especially when her man was a hero on the court. It was like everything good he did was assigned to her.

Hyuk passed Seok the ball and he walked up the court calmly.

"Why is he walking?" Suzie asked. "Run!" she yelled. Then she added, "He should just pass to Hyuk."

They saw Seok hold up three fingers and then two. His teammates moved quickly - he turned and threw the ball past his guard right into the path of Hyuk who scored easily.

"I guess walking isn't a bad tactic," Misha beamed.

"Hmmpf." Suzie growled, "It was Hyuk who scored."

Gi laughed. Suzie was so obstinate. It was obvious immediately that Seok made a difference and the scoreboard slowly changed as the sides went from one end to the other. Daeil began to catch their opponent.

She looked over at Ren who was sitting amongst the YG academy boys. The very ones who said nasty things about her. Things had become strained between them. They rarely texted and she hadn't agreed to meet him for the past two weeks.

Officially she hadn't dumped him. She had him on ice since the incident with Jordan. He had reached out to her and apologised. But he did a lot of that. Doing bad things and then apologising after.

She had invited Jordan to sit with her during the game, but he declined. Basketball wasn't Jordan's thing. So, she was with Suzie and Misha. And at least Ren wasn't sitting with other girls. But – the YG feeders?

He texted her.

Ren: I know this looks bad. Trust me. I'm here for a reason.

She looked at her phone and crinkled her brow. It was a cryptic message. She wondered what Ren was up to.

Ren handed the third phone down through the bleachers to the boy underneath. Luckily the YG academy feeders were too busy watching the game and didn't notice him take their phones one after the other.

The kid under the bleachers poked him. It was the phone coming back.

"Where's my phone?" the boy next to him searched around.

Ren handed it to him, "You dropped it. It was at my feet." Putting his best acting skills to use the academy boy didn't suspect a thing.

Ren stood, "I'm gonna take a leak." He announced before heading across the stands.

"It's so close! Hold it in," Shin-Wa ordered.

Ren shook his head, "I have been. If I don't go now …" And he left with a couple of rebukes following him. Sport was important at Daeil and even the idol hopefuls supported their teams passionately.

Ren ducked past the toilets and out the side emergency door. It wasn't alarmed. Not now anyway.

"Okay. Are we done?" He asked Sena.

"Three?" Sena asked.

"Yes. That's damn good. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get someone's phone without them noticing?" Ren asked the taller boy.

Sena looked at Ren like he was an idiot.

"Oh. I suppose you do," Ren adjusted his statement.

Sena sighed, "Three will be enough. If we're lucky they will share something bad in a group chat."

It was then a kid exited the same emergency door and handed Sena three phones. They were the clones.

Sena pocketed them and tapped something on his own phone. "Paid." Was all he said, and the kid ran off.

"Do you have an army of them at your disposal?" Ren asked in awe.

"Yes," Sena replied. It wasn't true, but it was important to fool an opponent by appearing either much weaker than you really were - or much stronger.

"So, are we done?" Ren asked.

"Never," Sena said seriously while trying to look threatening. "Don't delete that app or we will come for you."

"Pfft," Ren scoffed. "What now?"

"Nothing. Go back in your hole - but be good to Gi or you'll be sorry," Sena said.

Ren peered at him. "Do you think you're her guardian angel or are you just infatuated with her?"

Sena's face went slightly red before he got himself under control. "What does it matter? It's the same for you either way."

Ren nodded and hung his head. "True."

Sena opened the emergency door and kicked Ren through. "Go sit with her and be nice you idiot."

Ren could not work Sena out. He wondered if Sena liked Gi why didn't he use his skills to try and get her? Sena was both amazing and scary. What made it worse was he was crazy and the crazy made him even scarier.

Ren thought about his upcoming role and wondered if Sena would mess with his acting career. As he pushed past people to try and squeeze in next to Gi he came to the conclusion that he would do nothing to piss Sena off. He should probably delete the GoPro files he had of him and Gi together. If Sena ever found them, he would be sure to kill him.

"Hi," he said as he passed Misha and Suzie. Who both looked at him like he was dirt.

"Hi," he said to Gi, "can I squeeze in?"

She smiled, nodded and squeezed in closer to Suzie.

With Sena's app still running in the background, Ren went into the cloud storage and selected the video files. He deleted them all.

"I'm glad you're here," Gi said kindly.

"Why?" he asked.

"Because I have no idea what is going on," She said and laughed.

Ren laughed too. And began to explain what he knew about basketball.

"Seok is really making a difference," he said. "He doesn't look like much and the other team underestimate him. Look," he said pointing, "he just snuck into the corner. Wait. I bet Hyuk hits him for a three-pointer on the drive." And his words came true. As Hyuk ran to the basket all the opposition gathered to block him. He passed out to Seok who was all alone in the corner. The ball flew out of his hands and it was all net.

The opposition coach was screaming at his players.

The game was now tied.

The Daeil supported shouted their appreciation.

"No idea why the coach didn't play Seok before," Ren said scratching his head. "The team is twice as good with him out there."

"It's much more fun watching when you know the players too," Gi responded having nothing to add in terms of basketball knowledge.

They began to chant, "Defence, Defence." As their team defended.

Suzie stood and screamed, "Win. Hyuk. Win."

She sat back down and announced to her friends, "If he wins I will f.u.c.k him tonight."
