Love Is Sweeter Second Time Around

Yiu Chunixiu was in deep thoughts and didn't noticed that someone was approaching.

A woman's soft voice startled her, she almost spilled the wine inside the glass. "Senior Yiu, good evening."

The voice sounded familiar but she couldn't remember where she had heard it before. She turned her body to the entrance of the balcony and saw a woman dressed in peach maxi evening dress.

Her eyes widened, it was a junior of her during university days. "Junior Lan?"

It took her few seconds to recover. She walked towards the girl and hugged her. "It's nice seeing you again."

Ling Lan came was her junior during her university days, they were quite close. She somehow helped her before and Ling Lan became clingy to her, following her like a dog. She came from a well-off family of scholars so she knew Ling Lan was used to attend banquets. Her face wasn't exactly attractive but it was pleasing to the eyes.

Yiu Chunxiu broke out from the hug, her lips curled up. She didn't expect that she would meet someone from the past here. She already met one but didn't expect another one.

"Senior Yiu!" Ling Lan cried out. "You still recognized me! I thought you have already forgotten me!"

She shook her head as she laughed at the woman in front of her, "Of course, I haven't."

Both of the women walked towards the balcony where they could talked without any disrupting noises coming inside the banquet hall. Yiu Chunxiu and Ling Lan leaned forward the curb.

Even though she was worried that someone who knew about her and Gao Yishen's past attended the ball, it was nice seeing someone she was familiar with. She had been living in a foreign land for years and she came back, she was surrounded by. Somehow she felt a warm feeling spreading across her heart. She was finally home.

"Senior Yiu, you suddenly disappeared without any hint where to find you nor how to contact you. Everyone was worried you know." Ling Lan said, "We thought that you and Senior Gao eloped since we couldn't contact both of them. But then we saw news about Senior Gao inheriting Gao International Corporation so we just guessed that you two got married behind our backs."

Yiu Chunxiu took a glimpse at Lin Lang's solemn face. It was understandable why she would have that kind of expression.

So her sudden disappearance cause them to worry about her, huh? She spent her months before she left the country preparing and studying medicine and culture in America. Her phone and gadgets were confiscated by her family that time so she couldn't contact any of her friends. When she arrived at America, she became busy and forgot to contact her friends. They still had news about Gao Yishen, but there wasn't any for her. It was understandable that they would be worried about her.

"You know, Senior Yiu. It was also hard for us for the two of you to suddenly disappeared like a bubble. Both of you are the pride of our department and everybody loved the two of you. Actually, we were happy just to hear something from you, just to make sure that you're still alive. But there wasn't." Ling Lan said the last sentence almost like a whisper, "We thought if we contact Senior Gao we would get some news about you but his assistant declined all our requests to meet him. We almost gave up, good thing the seniors just asked Senior Gao's assistant to rely our question whether you're with him and doing fine. The assistant was nice and actually relied our message to Senior Gao. We got our answer, but it was unexpected one. He asked his assistant to say that he didn't have any connection with you. That's when we thought that you probably broke up. Year after, we heard that Gao family had a one-year old grandson, we thought it was your child with Senior Gao. We were wrong again, Senior Gao never admitted that the child was his but he is close with the Sis Mu, the mother of the child so everyone assumed that Gao Zhilan is his child. Until now, no one knew the truth and we continue to worry about you. That's why I'm really happy that I saw here. It was worth attending! I can tell this to the seniors!"

After she heard Ling Lan's story, her heart tightened. How could she do such a cruel thing to her friends who shared a lot of precious memories with her? Although the time she spent with Gao Yishen was incomparable, the time she spent with her university friends was also precious. She laughed a lot with them and encouraged each other when they were going through a difficulty . There was a considerable number of members in the organization but she belonged in that place at that time. They helped when her parents abandoned her. She was thankful that she had them that time or else, she probably gave up during her first year in university.

"I'm sorry for not contacting you." She apologized. "A lot of things just happened and it was too complicated to discuss. I'm sorry for failing as a friend."

Ling Lan was taken aback, "No, no no Senior Yiu. I didn't share that to you 'cause I wanted you explain what happened nor for you to apologize. I just remembered those days when the gang was still complete." She paused, "Now, it is impossible to gather everyone, huh?" She said as if she was talking to herself.

Yiu Chunxiu felt more dejected. She knew what Ling Lan meant. Everyone was busy and she already broke up with Gao Yishen. She was sure that Ling Lan saw what happened earlier, she and Gao Yishen acted like strangers. If their friends would invite both of them, it would become a disaster.

"Oh yeah!" Ling Lan had a bright smile and twinkling eyes. She tilted her towards her, "The organization built the architectural firm just like what we had planned before. The gang is all working there! It was still small but we are slowly getting name. That's why we were invited in the ball tonight."

Ling Lan perked up! Unconsciously, she felt relieved after seeing it.

She suddenly realized what Ling Lan had said, they build an architectural firm? It was just an joke and a dream before. Even during their university days, she thought that wouldn't happen since they were all just a newbie and would eventually enter different companies.

With what she had heard, her turned her body to Lin Lang. "Really?" She asked.

"Yes, everyone was working there except for you Senior Yiu and Senior Gao," as Ling Lan said their names whispering.

It looks like what happened between her and Gao Yishen affected the gang so much.

"Ah!" Ling Lan shrieked, "Senior Wen Peishan was part of the team before but she was seven months pregnant right now so she went back to H province where her family lives and resigned in the company." She explained.

A lot of things happened when she was gone. She missed a lot of fun and news.

"So Senior Wen is now married. Have you met her husband?" She asked curiously.

Wen Peishan's look was goddess-like, she was also talented in their field. Wen Peishan was the second person she idolized after Gao Yishen during her university days, their technique and talent were second to none and even the professors were astonished by their skills.

Ling Lan pursed her lips, had she said something wrong?

"No one knew who was the father of the child. Not even her parents. She just wouldn't spill it out no matter how her parents forced her."

Yiu Chunxiu was blown away, wasn't Wen Peishan's current situation exactly like what she had experienced before?
