Law Of Creation

Chapter 57 - Prelude to the Festival Day

Day 44th, the month of the fire, aka summer.

Far from the Green River City.

There were a few people that were looking and analysing at the stone non-stop. They were trying to figure out the secret of the Malin Kundang stone. But unfortunately, they didn't have any progress in this month.

Even though they were unwilling, the researchers were scared by the threat of the Fourth Prince.

'It's okay if you all are not willing. . .'

'I can destroy you, your family also will not be spared. . .'

'Your reputation? The dead man will not need it. . .'

'Your hard work? They could be my source of gold. . .'

'After all. . .'

'The dead tell no tale. . .'

And because of that, they were 'willing' to work for him. But if they couldn't deliver any result to him, no one knew what would happen to them.

But fortunately they could gain some information from the Malin Kundang stone itself, or else no one knew what would happen to them.

They never expected that the amicable and kind-looking Fourth Prince was someone cruel.

"Sir, we have found the trace of that girl." A cold voice could be heard from behind the amiable-looking young person - the Fourth Prince of the Fire Kingdom.

"Oh?" The Fourth Prince was observing the stone that the Black Crow Palace had obtained in front of him.

"So. . . Who is it. . . The one killing our people?" The smile on the Fourth Prince didn't change. He touched his chin while thinking of something.

"Because of the long distance, we will have to wait some more time before we could figure out that person, the killer. Currently, the other target, the little girl is staying at the border of the Water Association and the Fire Kingdom, the Green River City." The black-clothed figure showed himself behind the Fourth Prince.

"Hmm. . . Continue."

"Target works as a receptionist at a Mercenary Guild. Her first appearance is at least thirty days ago, based on the letter. Considering the distance, it should be forty days ago."

"Hoo? Mercenary Guild, is it? Is that city is a Mercenary City?" The Fourth Prince hesitated a little.

"Yes. Grade 1 Mercenary City."

"Grade 1? Trash. No need to consider anything. Hunt her." The Fourth Prince scoffed as he made his decision.

"Yes." But when the black-clothed figure wanted to leave this hidden place, he was stopped by the Fourth Prince.

". . . Wait. I will come with you. I am interested in this person since my woman said she is as venomous as a viper. I am very interested." The smile on the Fourth Prince's face changed into something insidious.

[Since she is venomous, she should be useful.]

[She should be tamed. . .]

[If I couldn't. . . ]

[Then. . . ]

The Fourth Prince returned to his usual smile and then turned his body to go out of this hidden place where he hid some researcher and the Malin Kundang stone.

Day 56th, the month of the fire, aka summer.

Grade 1 Mercenary City, the Green River City.

"Little girl, here's the proof of the subjugation's job. The ear of tier 2 Fierce Beast, Silver-Back Monkey. This Fierce Beast is very annoying, you know? Always grouping together and very fierce. They are tall enough, maybe around four of you." A bald mercenary was retelling his adventure in his subjugation's job to Mingyue.

Obviously, after a few days working as the receptionist, she was used with the antics of the mercenary. There are some mercenaries who love to nag, some mercenaries like to brag, or even asking to increase the promised rewards.

Usually, Mingyue wouldn't respond to the mercenaries who wanted to increase their rewards since she didn't have that capability. For the other mercenaries, she only listened to their bragging or nagging.

"Ah, yes, yes. Please wait for a little while I am processing this." Mingyue turned her body to search for a paper from the pile of papers.

"Ha ha ha, you are so cold as usual, little girl." The bald mercenary didn't feel offended by Mingyue's lack of attention since it was the usual.

"No, I am not a little girl." Mingyue just retorted as the usual.

"Fine, fine. Tomorrow should be the Festival Day. Are you going somewhere with Wu Mei?"

"Damn you baldie, don't you dare to stalk us. If I find out. . . " Wu Mei suddenly appeared beside Mingyue and glaring at the bald mercenary.

"Oh, please. Who would be daring enough to offend you? We are not that idiot, ha ha ha. . ."

"Good if you are smart enough." Wu Mei glared at the bald mercenary.

"I'm done. Here is the reward. 4 broken silvers and 17 coppers. Want to take another job?" Mingyue finished with the processing the job.

At the Green River City, one silver was more than enough for a family's expense for a month or more. Different from the Star Royal City, the cost of daily need at this place was much cheaper. But for a mercenary, of course, that sum was far from enough.

"Nah, I am fine. I want to have a rest day for tomorrow. If you are going to have fun tomorrow, make sure to explore the whole city. Ha ha ha. . ." The bald mercenary took the coin on the desk and turned around. Another mercenary filled his earlier position.

"Ah, are you done with your job? Or did you want to take a job?" Mingyue said the same words to every mercenary she met in front of the receptionist's desk.

"Aah. . I am done. . . " Mingyue stretched her body around. Even if her receptionist's job didn't require her to move around, it was still a big burden for her body.

Even though she couldn't let out Xiao Jing and Xiao Wu, they were fine with it. At first, Mingyue wanted to let them out and hide outside the city, like that time after the near-death accidents. They could cultivate while Mingyue was working as the receptionist. But both of them were clearly against it.

Their reasoning was this place was not as safe as what she thought. In the end, Mingyue could only let them stayed in her body.

"Hahaha, are you used to the works now?" Wu Mei asked Mingyue while tidying her desk.

"Un. It was tiring but I am not bored." Mingyue smiled at her. Ever since she came to this city, she had the most contact with Wu Mei.

Mingyue didn't know many things about her since she didn't want to say anything. But outside the scope of receptionist's job, she pampered Mingyue very much. Unconsciously, Mingyue got closer to Wu Mei.

"Since we have half day work time, let's have fun at the festival tomorrow, Little Yue." Wu Mei smiled while c.a.r.e.s.sing Mingyue's hair.

"Un!" Mingyue smiled back at her while holding Xiao Ming in her embrace.
