Kingdom Of The Moonlight Rose

Chapter 20 - Successor

After their departure from Border Town, the group settled in a forest several miles away.

Eden was seen training his sword. SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Eden would held the sword high with two both his hands and close to his body, legs shoulder width apart, his back straight. Gathering the power in his legs, Eden would use the force generated in his legs to generate as much force as possible. This was the Rivenhart Kingdom military's one strike to eliminate all foes style of combat. The idea was to exert overwhelming force in the first strike. This was commonly used within the military.

"I didn't want to say this Eden, but the Basic Rivenhart Kingdom Footmen swordsmanship is rather crude and simple, your first attack may be the strongest, but after that initial burst of strength it gets significantly weaker after. This style is especially adept for those with the fire element and their destructive capabilities. This can't continue if you want to be successful in the art of the sword. Eden you are very fortunate that your moonlight element covers up this fault. The style of attack within the Haven Kingdom military needs to improve. Unfortunately, although I am able to view these weaknesses, I am unskilled in the sword, we will need to find someone with considerable knowledge in regards to wielding a sword in Crux City." said Headmaster Oak. "You can continue training in this so that you may keep the feel of the sword in your hands but I would like for your to focus on training your cultivation. It is imperative that we reach the cultivation goals. You have gained many earth hog cores in the Hog forest, you should be using them!"

"Yes Headmaster," Eden only practiced the swordsmanship instruction his father shared with him. "I will focus on breaking through to the next stage."

Adara can be seen off to the side meditating. She was nearing the next stage. Unlike Eden, Adara had the resources available to her as a strict training menu that was provided by Ignis. Headmaster Oak did not want to tamper with her too much lest he ruin her growth. With Adara's training accounted for, Headmaster Oak needed to only focus on Eden. He would have less time when Ignis came back with the two water elementalists.

Within the Haven Kingdom, capital city, Rivenhart, a King sat on his the throne listening to his advisors. The majestic view of the King wearing a gold and red coat brought awe to those who conversed with him every day. Sadly times have changed, the King was fading and with it potentially the life of a Kingdom.

A balding old man dressed in red robe appeared in front of the King and kneeled. "Your humble servant brings news of the Kingdom"

"Please rise Advisor Gheed, please rise and provide updates of the kingdom"

Advisor Gheed stood on his feet and begun to bring up notable items to the King, "Your highness King Ash, the military has been having a successful campaign down south clearing out the monsters. Human lives may even be able to begin inhabiting those areas. This is good news indeed. On another note, one of the four academy kings has gained a great talent I hear, she possesses four different elements, her name is Aerith, and she is the granddaughter of the headmaster."

"Gheed haha, my old friend has definitely lucked out. If trained properly she might even be a pillar of the Kingdom in the future. How many can we say even have multiple elements within the Kingdom!" laughed King Ash, he was definitely in a good mood however there was much coughing in between his words.

"There is another student that has some talent as well. The child attends Prontera academy and possesses dual elements and a unique trait as well. The darkness element and ice. truly a rare find. These two young talents within the Kingdom are truly incredible. Word has it that they have been progressing at an incredible rate." continued Advisor Gheed.

"This is good news Advisor Gheed. Please continue to keep an eye on them. There should be no reason that Prontera and Tempest Academy will remain part of the four kings for the foreseeable future." continued King Ash. "Hopefully in several years these two will stand atop the Kingdom as great heroes and be noteworthy in the annals of history. Alas, I wonder where my mark will be in the history books- cough cough"

"Your Highness!" shouted Advisor Gheed. King Ash raised his hand to signal that he was okay.

"You will be remembered as the protector of the realm, the kind-hearted King Ash. You have served the kingdom well. The kingdom shall weep when you go into your final sleep." praised Advisor Gheed. "I know that we continue to bring this up, but with your ill health you must have an acknowledged successor for the kingdom! If a successor isn't chosen all our enemies will reveal their claws when-"

"And I will have a successor! I as King know better than anyone not to let my forefathers work be torn asunder." calmly replied King Ash. Each and every word he spoke contained the weight of the Kingdom, "This year with so many talents at the academy tournament, I believe that is now time the time-"

"Then your majesty-" Gheed excitedly interrupted the King.

"I will select a successor to the crown. The next king or queen shall be designated after the tournament and the Kingdom will provide the greatest of resources to strengthen them." finished King Ash.

"May your future successor may be as wise and just as you your highness, that they have your heart and the will to put the Kingdom and its peoples as first in their hearts." prayed Advisor Gheed.

"Gheed, please provide me with an intelligence report on all the academies that will participate and any potential talents we may look for. Also find out what Lazarus has been up to recently. I wonder if he has found any talents for his academy yet." said King Ash.

"Knowing Lazarus, he always has a plan." smiled Advisor Gheed.
