“I came because you called for me,” Alexa answered, her face red.

“I heard that your homework went well. I also received the answer sheet you sent me in the letter. I think it isn’t too unreasonable to submit this to the academy,” Karrolf said seriously.

Of course, only Karrolf could research and investigate werewolves. Their bloodline  had been kept strictly secret.

“No, Teacher! I am still lacking in many areas.”

“No, Alexa! You were born to be a doctor. Excellent understanding and great application skills…. I never imagined that you would get there.”

Karrolf continued to express his admiration with a serious face. The answer sheet Alexa had sent him exceeded the questions he gave her. She even wrote down the differences in the basal metabolic rate and cells between werewolves and humans.

All the books written about werewolves in the present were all written by Karrolf and predecessors of the Thersion doctors. Werewolf medicine reached its peak during Karrolf’s time, and it can be said that it was thanks to the experiments he did in the past. Until 90 years ago when digging and buying high-level criminals was common, Karrolf was a VIP customer buying such criminals.

And then Alexa presented him a whole new perspective by adding the knowledge and opinions written in the books published by Karrolf at that time. She saw the biggest difference in red blood cells between humans and werewolves. This only means that the difference between the dissolved oxygen (DO) that can be stored in their red blood cells has a great effect on the amount of their physical exercise. And Karrolf also agreed with that opinion.

(T/N: Dissolved Oxygen (DO) turns into energy once it is transported into the cells. This energy, in turn, helps us in our daily lives. That’s why Alexa quoted that DO can have a great effect on our physical exercise, as she pertains to how much can we go with the amount of oxygen in our blood. I can’t explain everything at once so if you have more questions, Mr Google is always open for your questions, I am only human with only a little bit of scientific knowledge ㅠㅠ)

“It was all thanks to the wonderful books Teacher wrote.”

“Haa….”

This feels like I am raising my ideal daughter. While I only raised my loud students, teaching Alexa seems to create a flower garden in my heart. Karrolf affectionately looked at Alexa.

“Excuse me, Teacher?”

Another student who had Karrolf as his teacher, the mansion’s doctor, called him carefully.

“Ahem… what is it?”

“Please help me. There were a lot of injured patients.”

“You look fine to me, so why are you slacking –” When Karrolf was about to say a harsh word, he saw Alexa bit her mouth. He then cleared his throat with a cough, ahem, and then kindly told her, “I called you here Alexa because I think the best way to study it is to see it in person. But of course, if it’s too stimulating! You can’t stand it! And scary! You can tell me.”

“No, that’s fine, Teacher.”

It’s not even that commendable.

Everyone witnessed how Karrolf was being amazed by a girl half his size. Everyone in this place knew that the girl with a strong human scent was the famous Alexa.

Alexa was one of the few humans who stayed in this place. The five human knights who were here not too long ago eventually survived but couldn’t return to the Imperial Palace. It was a clear warning to the Emperor – that if he provokes them [the wolves] more, they won’t put up with it anymore.

The day the knights died, the Grand Duke prepared a salt crate, with his cold words accompanied with his cruel face, that stopped the chatter of the wolves, [‘There were too many useless humans in the Imperial Castle. The Emperor, of course, is one of them.’]

What a cruel face that murmured ever so softly and smacking his lips. With the Grand Duke’s beauty that no one could deny… God must have abandoned the world.

Anyway, there was such a thing, and Alexa is still living in Thersion, as well as a lot of wolves wandering around.

Was that all?

“Ysu! Don’t do that! Who told you to bite someone!”

“Arf!”

Ysildus sat down with his ears pulled back and softly wagging his tail. He was acting like a fox, telling her to not scold him anymore. How could she make that demonic Ysildus so obedient! When they saw for themselves what they had heard only from rumors, the surprise of the knights was doubled.

‘That girl will dominate the world.’

There were knights who seriously thought that way.

Regardless, Alexa didn’t know of their thoughts so she can casually walk around. There was no better time to practice than now, so Karrolf taught Alexa this and that, and showed her how to deal with things.

“But still, he broke his leg. Can we just align his bones like that?” Alexa asked curiously.

She was amazed to see a knight walking around even with a broken bone, and Karrolf casually aligning his bone just like that.

“Yes, that would be enough. Wolves are very resilient. He would get well in a day’s time if you aligned the bones well.”

“My gosh. What is the reason behind that?”

Karrolf’s eyes lit up at Alexa’s question. “Try to answer that. What do you think is the reason why wolves are particularly resilient?”

“Uhm….” Alexa was in trouble.

The reason why they can recover that fast. Some of the things Alexa had studied might have the answer to it.

“They… produced cells quickly…?”

Karrolf looked like he was about to hug Alexa at any moment. People of the world, look here. My disciple is such a genius! Fortunately, Karrolf held back what he was about to say.

“That’s right, Alexa. Wolves produce cells in a short span of time. That is a matter scientific mechanism couldn’t reveal.”

“I see. There are a lot more undiscovered matters in science, more than what was already known.”

Karrolf nodded.

The knights buried their heads on their pillows as they listened to the conversation between intellectuals. Ysildus on the side was hovering around Alexa while wagging his tail. Alexa would sometimes tell him, ‘Aww, you’re so obedient! So adorable!’ and stroking his revealed stomach.

While she was stroking Ysildus’ stomach, Alexa thought: Karrolf was right. I learned a lot from following him today when I was studying by myself.

Karrolf was quite a good teacher. Whatever he had done in the past, Alexa liked him. Even if she could only learn half of his knowledge, it looks like she wouldn’t have any trouble making a living in this world.

Alexa proudly imagined herself as a future doctor.

“It’s pretty good.”

She can achieve her dream in the past in this place.

Ysildus followed after Alexa, who was walking slowly. He tapped Alexa’s leg with his front paw, disliking that she was thinking of something else.

“Arf!”

He then clung to her and started whining. Left with no choice, Alexa burst into laughter. He would betray her every time there is something to eat but complains when Alexa does other things. Just like the obsessive type of child.

Alexa pursed her lips and hugged Ysildus. He licked Alexa’s cheek, evident that he was happy with it.

“Ah! You’re flaring your nostrils!”

“Kiing?”

Alexa turned her head away from Ysildus.

The dark sunset fell behind Alexa, Ysildus, and Terrun.

(T/N: I didn’t think Terrun was there, he was never mentioned lol)

The Ninth Prince, Jeremiah Temperch, is the Empire’s nobody Prince. In fact, being the Ninth Prince meant that he was far from the Emperor, and meant that he had nothing to look forward to for his future.

No one looked at Jeremiah’s direction. He was just someone who was at his mother’s palace. But that same Jeremiah was noticed by the Emperor. He said that Jeremiah was the same age as the children in Thersion.

The Imperial Family’s long-standing inferiority complex towards them was ever-so famous, and everyone knew that the Emperor constantly checking on Thersion lives under the bridge.

Jeremiah had to train before going to Thersion. That is why, he is standing here now with a sword. His arms trembled.

Jeremiah holding a sword and the death row inmate eyes’ met. The black eyes of the death row inmate were lifeless, and a stench came out from his helplessly opened mouth. They couldn’t use their legs so it would be useless to run away, and they couldn’t even ask for help because they didn’t have the will to. The teacher that the Emperor gave to Jeremiah said that it was a good prey to catch.

‘But he was a person.’

Tears started to fill Jeremiah’s eyes. His mother emphasized to him again and again: that You, Jeremiah and I, your mother would be the ones to die if you go against the Emperor’s will! You can’t go against the Emperor!

What Jeremiah realized as he went through a precarious day was that no matter how hard he tried, he could floor on the floor with the Emperor’s whim.

Like the situation Jeremiah was in now. His hand holding the sword trembled.

“Kill it.” His master said succinctly. “If you can’t even kill this thing, then you won’t be able to overpower a single Thersion knight.”

I’m not interested in them. What Jeremiah was interested in was cooking and baking. Something like that – things that would make him feel comfortable and wouldn’t hurt anyone.

The teacher once again urged Jeremiah, who had a soft heart.

“Hurry and use your sword! What would His Majesty say if he was to see this? Do you want to see your mother be thrown to the streets right at this moment?”

Jeremiah’s weakness was his mother. She is a pitiful and pathetic mother. She didn’t want to be a royal concubine, but in the eyes of the Emperor, she became one. The Emperor didn’t care whether she had support, or if she died in the rear palace. Jeremiah was the only one who could protect his mother.

Jeremiah clenched his teeth and raised his sword.

“Aaaah!”

Jeremiah’s sword drew an arc.
