The World that You Would Be Living In. (1)

Seroif Empire had officially protested against the Rakain Kingdom.

The fact that they plotted to have the Empress murdered.

And that was what they had remonstrated against.

It wasn’t a very complicated thing to either fight politically or diplomatically or even over some kind of advantage, but it had actually been more important than all of that.

That was why, as soon as this incident had surfaced, not only the Empire but also the entire Cesan continent got turned upside down at once.

It had been because of the fact that the Empress of Seroif, who was practically the ruler of the whole continent, almost got killed.

The indignant Imperial people raised their voices at once while saying that everyone should start to declare war against Rakain and an increasing number of people decided to give up their livelihoods before volunteering to be enlisted as they declared that they could really put up a fight at that instant.

It became an imminent crisis as if a war would actually break out at any moment of time.

And it was only natural that the two principalities, both Pazolan and Kaizen, which maintained a relationship with Seroif, had been observing the whole situation with such raging breath.

On top of that, Rakain’s attitude in such a situation of crisis itself might have been extremely predictable as well .

< It is truly regrettable to see that the Empress of your country had experienced such an unfortunate accident on her way back from a visit to her own home country. Nevertheless, that does not truly cover the aspect of her error. Rather, the honor of her home country was the one that had been damaged by this. Therefore, we put forward a request for an official apology from your country instead. >

Rakain’s attitude was simply resolute and strong. It must have been a decision which was made based on the judgment that a vague apology or some other kind of response could bring about the worst outcome in return.

However, Rakain’s attitude was actually no different from igniting the wrath of the entire people of Seroif.

“We have to move in right away! Since they actually dared to harm the Empress, they must repay by hundreds, no, even thousands of times more!”

“Yes, Your Majesty! If you were to just give me an order, I’ll go and slit the heads of those pigs back in the Rakain’s Royal Family…”

“Count Boduis, you ought to restrain yourself a little better. This is a meeting that’s presided over by His Majesty himself, but you’ve been talking too much.”

Heinez interrupted Count Boduis right in the middle. It was because he became worried about what else he would eventually say since Count Boduis had a rather brash personality, which had been found to be difficult in finding a suitable opponent with his warlike nature.

Even if one did, other people with similar personalities wouldn’t stand still as well and it would then only be a matter of time before the meeting started to become a ‘mess’.

Heinez, who had been through so many ‘messy’ meetings before, was able to calm them down rather quickly this time.

…No, Heinez simply believed that he had calmed everything down.

However, it wasn’t long before the conference table became noisy once more. It was because the confrontation between the two sides, which did not intend to bend their opinions at all, had been getting more and more intense.

“Therefore, we must go to war—I mean! The Empress would have been greatly harmed, but to just receive an apology could actually solve this—!”

Count Boduis raised his voice yet again. Then, the other Vassals around him agreed as well while saying that it was only the right thing to say.

“It is best to conclude with a direct apology from the King of Rakain himself—right from the proud Royal Family of Rakain. Nothing else could be more humiliating than just that.”

Heinez calmly expressed his opinion while pressing his hand on the side of his throbbing head. Then, Count Boduis snorted at him before he opened his mouth once again.

“What’s the real use of accepting a few mere apologies? Rakain—aren’t they the ones who just pretend to be noble in front of you, but do all sorts of filthy things right behind your back?”

He lifted the glass of water in front of him to see if he was actually thirsty. Then, he took a gulp of water and soon continued his speech.

“Even if you apologize to the Empress, it’s still the same thing. How can we ever guarantee that this wouldn’t happen again? So, let’s take this opportunity to declare war against Rakain…”

“Do you think that war is like a mere child’s play?!”

Heinez raised his voice at once. Then, he frowned as he looked around at the meeting attendees and went on with his words as if he was bruised.

“Do you think everything will be resolved just by crying out, ‘it’s war from now onwards’? Do you know that, as Count Boduis have said, it is only enough with the heads of the Royal Family in return? Do you think that this is some kind of a fruit picking festival?”

Heinez clicked his tongue and mumbled in complete astonishment. Then, he merely rolled his eyes and said nothing. In fact, it was because of the fact that most of them were simply giving a breeze thought.

Creak.

At that moment, the sound of something hard having been crushed could be heard. And at the same time, everyone’s eyes started to focus straight towards the direction of the said sound.

The seat where Kergel was seated on had been the source of that particular sound. He was seen to be clutching his armrest tightly. Also, the armrest that was made out of marble could be seen to be falling onto the floor, broken into pieces due to the strength of his mere grip.

‘If I were to say the wrong thing, my head would be crushed like that as well.’

It was a thought that straight away came to the mind of everyone who could actually catch a sight of that scene. Even though they had not been in an agreement with each other, they still shut themselves all quietly at once.
