Harry The Harem Lord-1

Chapter 43 - Memory

Harry started playing the memory and the current gloomy store faded in the background and was covered by grey fog.

Harry looked at his hand and found that they were transparent, so that means he was watching memory as the third person.

It was the early morning, the time of winter, as there was fog covering everything. Harry was standing in a familiar place, as it was the entrance of Knockturn Alley.

Harry saw a handsome, but pale-looking young man of age around 20. He looked in a terrible mood as his face was stiff and cold. He was none other than the young Voldemort!

Harry followed behind him. He saw the betting house was still crowded in the morning, and ahead, there were small rooms, closed, as the business was for the night, also some of the customers were leaving too.

Harry found some changes in the alley, in memory and the current situation, but Harry didn't pay much attention to it, as his main focus was Voldemort himself.

Harry is now near the "Borgin and Burkes." As Voldemort didn't cover is the pale-looking attractive face, many people would look at him, but he was in bad, maybe in a terrible mood, to look at them or greet.

Harry then reached near a famous p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.e's house with sisters, but it was much bigger compared to the future, with 13 different women's pictures outside. There were 3 of them standing outside, and calling wizards.

When they saw Voldemort, their eyes lit up. "Hey Tom, how are you? You look terrible! How about I make you feel better!? And if the three of us work together, we will rock your world! What do you say, girls?" Said one of the p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.es, and the other two also gave Voldemort a flirty look, and made a s.e.xy, inviting pose.

Voldemort only gave them a cool look and moved on without answering them.

"He looks in a terrible mood; usually he would greet us and even let us tease him sometimes." Said the first p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.e, and the other two nodded in agreement.

Voldemort moved on and entered the shop, and Harry followed after. It wasn't Borgin, as Harry had expected, but it was another man.

"Tom, my boy! You are back! Tell me, did that old hag agree to sell those things?" asked the man who had the same creepy smile as Borgin. He didn't care about Voldemort or Tom's bad mood.

Voldemort looked at him for some time and answered slowly, "No, Mr Burke, she didn't. But I have a question for you." The last part wasn't questioned, Harry could tell by his tone.

"So, he is Mr Burke, Borgin's partner," thought Harry.

Mr Burke's smile dropped and started cursing under his breath, and apparently, he didn't care about the rest, "Those are priceless things of great Salazar himself! Now this plan failed too, what should I do to get those things?"

When Burke turned around — ignoring little Tom's question — Tom used a spell on him from behind. It was Legilimency spell, to find out his answer, as Voldemort must have expected him to be ignored.

Mr Burke screamed and fell to the ground, as Voldemort was searching his memory without any mercy. It was almost like he was venting his anger on him.

Soon, Voldemort found what he was looking for. To Harry's surprise, he could see Mr Burke's memory too.

.

.

.

The memory was from Mr Burke's perspective.

He was sitting on the chair when the bell connected to the doorbell rang. He saw a beggar-looking woman come in, cautiously. She was holding something in her hand tightly. On a closer look, her belly was bigger. She wasn't fat, so she must be pregnant. Mr Burke thought to himself.

He made the same creepy smile and went to greet her, "What can I do for you on this fine day?"

The woman looked cautious and said, "I want to sell things, my family heirloom."

Mr Burke smile stiffened as he encountered many people with so-called family heirlooms. But nonetheless, he still checked it out. "Sure, let's see what it is."

The woman gave him the locket. At first glance, it looked like a moving snake but was the initial "S" carved on it.

Mr Burke took and started examining it. The woman was afraid that he would lower the prize so she said, "It belongs to Salazar, he was my ancestor!"

Mr Burke was shocked to hear that, as he had already felt the extraordinariness of the locket, even if he couldn't tell what it was. With each passing moment, he was getting more and more convinced that it was truly Salazar's locket!

The woman was anxiously waiting and couldn't help but ask, "Say how much it's worth?"

Mr Burke then finally looked at a woman who he had ignored and expected another time waster. She wasn't beautiful, no she looked below average, and with her old clothes, she was no better than a beggar.

'Only idiots would sell such a priceless thing, or desperate people!' thought Mr Burke. He decided to scam the woman.

"It is hard to say, you know, it was a lot of years ago." Mr Burke slowly said. This caused the woman clear distress. And expert eyes of Mr Burke saw that, which made him believe that it did indeed belong to Salazar. He was desperate to take this great locket, no matter what.

"But it really belongs to Salazar! It was passed down from generation to generation in my family, it can't be wrong!" said the woman, almost desperate and pleading, and somewhat painful to give away his family's heirloom, but it was worth it for his future baby. She touched her belly and her expression turned soft.

Mr Burke clearly heard her pleading, but ignored it. "Let's just assume it is from Salazar himself, but you know what, these kind of things aren't rare! Look, that necklace — Opal Necklace — belongs to none other than Godric Gryffindor! And just outside the shop, there is a woman who wears Diadem, it belongs to Rowena Ravenclaw! You can ask them if you don't believe it!"

The woman looked anxious hearing that and believed everything naively. "T-Then, how much is it worth?" she asked the main question, as she had no other thing on her body, and she needed to eat, even if it was for the baby. She nervously looked at the man.

"Hmm, how about 10 gold?" said Mr Burke with a straight face.

The woman looked relieved. As long as it's worth something, she could eat and raise her baby safely. If there are other problems in the future, she could deal with it later. "Alright!" she also agreed on the spot.

Mr Burke, who hadn't lost the locket, took out ten shiny gold pieces and gave her. She happily accepted and covered it with her dirty cloth, and left with a smile, expecting a bright future for her and her baby.

Mr Burke was also smiling ear to ear, and not that creepy smile. "What a stupid bitch! Ha, selling for 10 gold! What a jackpot! She also believes that Godric Gryffindor could wear the necklace! Hahaha..."

He was in good — no, in a great mood — he went to the door to close the shop when he saw the woman was asking p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.es whether the Diadem was real, and the p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.e answered yes annoyingly.

The woman's smile grew wider as she got more gold for such a common locket than she could ever hope for, and left in fear that her fortune might be stolen or the shopkeeper would cancel the deal.

Mr Burke sneered, "What a stupid woman! She must have lived under the rock her whole life to believe in everyone and everything!" Unknowingly, he was right, as it was her first time to visit the market, even outside world for that matter.

And that is where the memory Voldemort was looking for, ended.

.

.

.

Harry came back and saw Voldemort near him. Voldemort looked angry, for a moment Harry saw a trace of love in his eyes, but it was replaced with hatred. Even Harry was angry with Mr.Bruke for scamming mother and the pregnant mother at that! "Doesn't matter whose mother it is -- either noble's or poor's -- mother is always respectable person! How dare he do a despicable thing!" Harry was enraged and sad for the woman, and for the first time, he felt pity for Voldemort. But that couldn't change that he killed his parents and he must die!

Apparently, Mr Burke sold that locket to someone else and now he wanted it back, and so he sent Tom to convince the owner, and that is how he found out about the locket, and that is why he was angry. It rightfully belongs to him! How dare these lowly people to dare to touch what was supposed to be his!

"Crucio!" shouted Voldemort with raging fury hidden in his voice. He used an unforgivable curse on Mr Burke.

Mr.Burke shouted and screamed while rolling on the floor.

Voldemort didn't show a trace of mercy as the torture continues for more than half an hour!

Harry, just watch by side, felt uncomfortable. Even after half an hour Voldemort's anger didn't die down but increased as more he thought about, the more he got angry!

On the ground, Mr.Burke was asking for mercy, and in the end, asking for a quick death.

The quick death he was asking for didn't come as he suffers under Cruciatus curse for more than an hour. In the end, he had no energy to speak, and could only signal with his eyes.

Voldemort than cast killing curse and killed him. Then, to Harry's surprises, Voldemort started making Horcrux. He used the curse Necklace Mr Burke had pointed earlier when lying to the woman!

What Harry didn't realize that the knowledge of creating Horcrux would come handy exactly four years later when fighting against Voldemort for the first time, to save someone's life, someone dear to him.

Harry watched him create the Horcrux, and then, Voldemort left the shop, looking around one last time. When he would return, people will forget old Tom and fear new Voldemort. This was the ultimate turning point and the point of no return for him.

When Voldemort returned, he saw the p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.e house but the women were changed and there was none from his mother had met.

He was still angry, and torturing Burke for more than an hour didn't help him either. He went near the p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.e house and took out his wand.

"Reducto!" Shouted Voldemort, and pointed toward the house.

The women standing outside notice this, to Harry' amazement, the women took out wand too. Harry had no idea where they had put their wands in their so short cloth that barely covers her private part.

'They surely hadn't put a wand in those parts, right?' wonders Harry.

Three women weren't slow but they were no match for angry Voldemort!

They blew in smithereens and their blood spread behind them. It was the end! The half of the house behind them blew up and reduced to nothing but rumble!

Voldemort left, without looking back.

.

.

.

That's where Voldemort's memory ended.

Unknown to Harry, he was breathing heavily. He had mixed feelings about it. Before watching this memory, he always hated Voldemort, but now, he even pitted him.

The mixed feelings of Harry came from, anger toward Burke -- for scamming pregnant mother; sadness and respect for the woman, Voldemort's mother -- for being such a naive and pure heart and respect for doing everything for an unborn child! Even selling family heirloom! ; pity toward Voldemort -- for having such a no less cruel childhood than his!

Harry had a heavy mood. All the happiness for destroying Horcrux and progressing in the mission was gone. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves. He couldn't wait to leave here and meet his darling Madame Malkin.

Harry was glad to have someone he could love, and also someone was there to love him. He was glad to be loved.
