Earthworm

Gongyi Jun finally arrived home. He spent a few days walking on eggshells after arriving at home, and realized that although his elder brother had been putting on a cold expression, he didn’t seem to want to do anything. He finally breathed a sigh of relief, Yeah…the crisis is over.

After returning to his status as the young master of the Gongyi family, Gongyi Jun found himself idle, feeling unproductive. When he was working as a bodyguard for that bastard, that guy just couldn’t see him being relaxed. He had to not only do the laundry and cooking as an errand boy, but also maintain a series of monitoring equipment, it’s not an exaggeration to say that one person was being used for two different things. But it was strange that he felt unaccustomed to finally escaping from the place that gave him nightmares.

Every time he opened the curtains and found that the sun was shining brightly, he believed that when he turned around, he would see the white figure sitting leisurely on the recliner reading a book. Also every morning, he always slept soundly, but when a certain time arrived, he would wake up without fail, because this was the accurate time where the guy gets up every day.

While secretly spurning his own series of behaviors, Gongyi Jun poked the golden poached eggs fried for breakfast and dinner cooked by his own chef. He had to admit that the bastard can be forgiven for talking about his clumsiness every day.

Realizing what he was thinking, Gongyi Jun shook his head. What the hell was he thinking? He actually thought that the bastard’s actions were correct. He is the second young master of the dignified Gongyi family, not a servant. It doesn’t matter if he can’t fry eggs, or if the dishes are not washed well, there are a lot of people doing these things for him.

While bitterly poking the poached eggs on the plate, Gongyi Jun took out his mobile phone and searched up the portrait. The person in the portrait was dressed in an ancient costume, and the whole image was so pure that no one could have any dark thoughts at all. Plus that face can naturally attract everyone’s attention. Gongyi Jun’s original intention was to find this photo and delete it, but the moment he saw it, he felt overwhelmed, and began to lose his mind in a daze.

“What are you looking at?” A deep and cold voice suddenly sounded, making Gongyi Jun shiver in fright. When he looked up, he realized that his elder brother had approached him, and Gongyi Jun was a little overjoyed, because this was the first time that his elder brother spoke to him in so many days. This is a good sign.

Gongyi Jun didn’t think about anything, he placed his phone in front of Gongyi Bo, and a sentence popped up, “This is a photo I’ve recently taken, isn’t it beautiful?”

Gongyi Bo walked over when an image flashed across the screen. After seeing it clearly, he realized that it was not a photo, but a portrait. He also directly understood why Gongyi Jun asked whether it was beautiful, and left while humming indifferently.

Gongyi Jun saw that his elder brother had no intention to respond to him at all, and sighed discouragingly. It seems that there is still a long way to go before reconciliation can happen. He took the mobile phone in his hand back into his pocket, and he didn’t know if he forgot or because of something else, but he didn’t delete the photo.

    ……

After changing to a new bodyguard, although Bai Fan was not used to it at the beginning, he now felt the benefits. Xiao Chen has a calm personality and is also very experienced. More importantly, housework can be self-taught. Compared with Xiaojun who could blow up the washing machine, he was much more capable.

Bai Fan fell asleep lying on his luxurious big bed, and then woke up on the antique carved wooden bed. After reading Yin Rui’s letter to him, he found that there were not many official documents to be processed on the table. After only an hour, it was all done. But he didn’t feel sleepy at all. He looked out the window and decided to go for a walk.

Bai Fan didn’t go far, just took a stroll within the sect. The severe winter had passed, and the temperature began to pick up, some small buds also appeared, and even some early spring flowers began to bloom, which was not bare like before.

It’s a pity that Bai Fan still hasn’t come across any good scenery, because the world without street lights is dark everywhere. Even though he has amazing eyesight, and even though Feng’er followed behind with a lantern, it just isn’t bright enough… It can be said he doesn’t come out often at night, which is a big factor.

Bai Fan walked in this kind of silence for a while, blowing in the cold wind, and because there was no one to accompany him, his interest in the night walk also dropped.

“Feng’er, let’s go back.”

“Yes.” There was a hint of joy in Feng’er’s eyes, obviously she didn’t think there was anything interesting here either.

Bai Fan just turned around, but suddenly felt something move on the bottom of his feet. Bai Fan was wearing soft-soled shoes today, which were light and comfortable. He lowered his head and immediately froze. The brown ring-shaped thing that was stepped in half by himself…worms, earthworms!

Feng’er only felt a gust of breeze blowing by her side, when she raised her head again, “Huh? Where did the master go?”

Several shadow guards appeared out of nowhere, looking around warily, and one even growled, “Protect the master.”

They were on high alert for a long time, but they didn’t find anyone strange. Where’s the assassin?

Receiving the suspicious gazes from the surrounding guards, Bai Fan, who was standing on top of a tree, cleared his throat, calmed down himself and said, “I just came up to see the scenery.” In fact, he took a long look at it, although it was so dark that nothing could be seen…

The hidden guards looked at each other helplessly, and in the end they could only raise their hands and clasp their fists. They hid in the darkness one after another and continued to protect secretly. Only one of the hidden guards looked at the direction Bai Fan was standing in before, especially the earthworm. There was a hint of disbelief and surprise in his eyes, as if he was not sure about his own deduction.

Bai Fan returned to the room, and after dismissing everyone, he sat down at the table with some annoyance, and poured a cup of tea to calm himself down. As far as Bai Fan was concerned, he surely was not afraid of mice or cockroaches, but earthworms are a different story.

His fear of earthworms came from his childhood. One year on April Fool’s Day, he was pranked by his classmates. When he opened the pencil case, he found several black and long earthworms wriggling inside. He doesn’t really remember his reaction, but from that moment on, when he sees earthworms, he would feel scared and uneasy.

Barely anyone knows about this secret, since he doesn’t talk about it. Even Luo Shuai discovered it by accident. After being ridiculed for a while, he was more determined to keep this fact as a secret.

Thinking back of being humiliated in front of so many people today, Bai Fan took another sip of tea. After self-reflection, Bai Fan wrote a long letter to Yin Rui. Of course, he didn’t mention being scared by earthworms. Even Yin Rui didn’t know about this secret. He put the letter into the secret compartment, and Bai Fan lay down on the bed, wrapped in a quilt and fell into a deep sleep.
