Forsaken By Love

Master Lu, He Lixue, and Lu Nanfeng looked at Lin Xiulan without hiding their annoyance. Master Lu also looked at his wife and felt even more annoyed. 

When they were young, she was quite an astute mind and knew when someone wished to use her, but it seemed that her senses had dulled over the passing of time.

He knew that his wife had always wished to have a daughter, but that did not mean that she could be blinded by Lin Xiulan to this extent. There had to be something else behind her unconditional trust in the woman.

While Master Lu was furrowing his brows and feeling that there had to be some sort of explanation behind his wife's behavior, Lu Nanfeng knew that there was nothing more than her wish of having a daughter.

Since he was a small child, he had always been compared to Lin Xiulan. Lin Xiulan was kind, Lu Nanfeng was cold. Lin Xiulan was attentive, Lu Nanfeng was emotionless. 

While Lin Xiulan was able to make Di Zhiqing feel comfortable, Lu Nanfeng never bothered to try and make her feel good, and thus it was evident that Di Zhiqing preferred Lin Xiulan to her own son. 

Lin Xiulan was sure that she was so smart. She felt that as long as she had Di Zhiqing's attention, she would be able to do well, but she had forgotten that while Di Zhiqing was usually in charge of the household, she loved her husband dearly, and listened to him at any given time.

If he wanted Di Zhiqing to cut ties with Lin Xiulan, then she would do that. Although she disliked He Lixue, she was not blinded to the point of hatred. 

She was against He Lixue, mainly because of Lin Xiulan's words of her being a cheap and poor woman who would harm Lu Nanfeng. 

But while Lin Xiulan easily fooled Di Zhiqing, she was not dumb. If she had some time to think things through, she could understand what was true and what was a lie. 

This was also another reason for Lin Xiulan to come to visit so often; she wanted to ensure that she had no time to find out the truth, or wonder how Lin Xiulan was guiding her thought process in every moment.

Master Lu was aware of this, so he planned on keeping them away from each other for a short while, to see how she would react when she realized that the woman she had seen growing up, the woman she wanted to be her daughter-in-law more than anything else, was actually a white-eyed wolf.

Master Lu was aware of what she was, but he knew that it was not easy to tell her straight out, as it would make her resistant to the truth, and think that he was saying it just to make her dislike her.

Lu Nanfeng looked at his father's thoughtful expression, who was observing his wife and Lin Xiulan, and a stone was lifted from his heart. 

He understood his father much better than he understood his mother. His father had seen through Lin Xiulan, and since he loved his wife, he was not going to keep watching while she was being abused by a young woman. 

This relaxed Lu Nanfeng's worries, he understood that his father had approved of He Lixue and that he would back them up, while he would convince Di Zhiqing into accepting it. 

Even if she never ended up liking her, she would at least not oppose them. 

Lu Nanfeng and He Lixue both said their farewell to Master Lu and Di Zhiqing before leaving without caring about Lin Xiulan. 

Master Lu also took Di Zhiqing inside the manor again. They also ignored Lin Xiulan, and when the door closed, Lin Xiulan stared at it in disbelief.

Had Di Zhiqing just closed the door on her when she looked the most desolate or helpless? 

How could she! 

She needed help from Di Zhiqing now, and she just abandoned her! 

Lin Xiulan's eyes lit up with anger, and her hands clenched tightly as she was full of fury.

She had always thought that Di Zhiqing was her last supporter, but the moment Master Lu came back, he had destroyed all her plans. 

She looked at the door with a deep grudge before lowering her eyes and clenched her fists. She went towards the outside of the property, but the Lu family manor was located on the town's outskirts, and catching a cab around here was difficult. 

She had spent the entire evening waiting for Lu Nanfeng and his family, and while waiting, she had been playing with her phone, and it had run out of battery.

Now she could not even call a taxi to come and pick her up, and she was forced to suddenly walk the long distance towards the center of town, in the middle of the night. 

She was scared and horrified, but no one had any intention of stepping in. It was her own idea to wait for so long after being declined at the door, and now she had to pay for her decisions.

Fortunately, the road was calm, and nothing happened. She managed to catch a cab on the way, but her heart was in her throat until she entered her room. 

She collapsed on her bed, blaming everyone in the world for her startling evening. If Master Lu had not done what he did, if Di Zhiqing was just a bit more firm, would she have been able to stay over at the Lu Mansion, or would Lu Nanfeng have to send her home? 

Lin Xiulan was indignant and angry. She bit her nails as she thought about how she could change her fate.

If Master Lu was going to be around, he would undoubtedly cause problems for Lin Xiulan, but how could she possibly get rid of him? This was her future father-in-law. 

She was also unhappy with He Lixue. It was all He Lixue's fault, and now she had integrated herself with Master Lu, things would be much more difficult for her in the future.
