Forsaken By Love

Chapter 94 - Cold Greeting

Seeing her struggle to pick out her clothes, Lu Nanfeng felt as if an itch appeared in his heart. She already knew that his mother disliked her, but she was still so careful with what to do and how to appear in their eyes.

"Choose the white vintage dress," Lu Nanfeng finally decided for her, and He Lixue obediently nodded her head. She had also considered the vintage dress, but she was not sure whether or not it was formal enough.

Now hearing that it was also Lu Nanfeng's choice, she had no more doubts.

After quickly changing her clothes, He Lixue started to feel nervous. Although she was not too bothered by Lu Nanfeng's mother's blatant dislike of her, she really hoped that his father would like her.

His mother was brainwashed by Lin Xiulan; it was natural that she would dislike anyone who was not Lin Xiulan, so she did not take it personally, however, his father seemed both reasonable and mentally sane. Being disliked by him was something she did not want.

Lu Nanfeng could see that she was slightly uncomfortable, and nervous, and he wrapped his big warm hand over hers. "Relax," he said gently. "Father is reasonable. He will not dislike you."

He Lixue was usually very cheerful, and she was not one to care about others' opinions on her, but she did not want to harm Lu Nanfeng or their relationship.

She could sense on Lu Nanfeng that his father was the man he looked up to, and she could not imagine what he would do if their relationship would become strained.

So, He Lixue wanted to leave a positive impression, and she was tightly holding on to the presents she had crafted that day.

Seeing her suddenly scared, Lu Nanfeng could not help but feel heartache.

But he did not know what to say. No matter what he said, it would not calm her down, so he gave her a tight hug and placed a kiss on her forehead before he gently led her to the car.

A bodyguard was driving the car, and four cars with bodyguards were surrounding their vehicle, two on each side.

The large entourage pulled out from the mansion and drove through town towards the Lu Manor, where Lu Nanfeng's father and mother were waiting for them.

As they drove, He Lixue had thought that she would become more and more nervous, but reality proved to be different. She was calmer the closer they came to their destination.

She realized that as long as she was herself, then she could do nothing else. Her taut muscles slowly relaxed, and her pale face regained some color.

"Are you feeling better now?" Lu Nanfeng asked. He had been holding her hand throughout the entire trip, and He Lixue had found much comfort and support in him.

Flashing a brilliant smile at him, she smiled and nodded her head. She was indeed feeling much better.

Seeing this, Lu Nanfeng took a deep breath of relief. He knew that He Lixue's personality would be a hit with his father, but he would also have some apprehensions because of the whole situation with the Organization.

The five cars drove into the courtyard of a magnificent manor that was lying on the outskirts of the city. It had a massive garden that was very well maintained, and the manor itself resembled an old palace.

He Lixue was taken aback when she saw the sheer beauty of the place, it was as if she had stepped back in time, and she suddenly understood why Lu Nanfeng had suggested that she took her vintage dress today.

She suited the surroundings perfectly.

Lu Nanfeng looked at He Lixue and nodded satisfied. When she stood in front of him with the manor as the background, she resembled a sprite that had just jumped out of a painting.

She was beautiful, like an otherworldly elf, a fairy which was untaintable. Seeing her so attractive, Lu Nanfeng felt his heart swell with pride. This was his woman, and he wanted to tell the entire world about her.

When He Lixue lifted her head, she stared at Lu Nanfeng in a trance. His eyes were overflowing with tenderness, and she was caught off guard, completely drowning in his affection.

They stood like this, staring at one another, for a short while, before a coughing sound came behind them, dragging them back to their senses.

Looking behind them, they saw that the housekeeper of the Lu Manor was present, and He Lixue cleared her throat embarrassedly.

"Hello uncle," she greeted sweetly, and he nodded at her, not too friendly but not hostile either.

It was clear that he had not determined what to think about her yet, and while He Lixue was the one who was being treated somewhat coldly, she was not unhappy.

She had expected that every servant at the Lu Manor would be against her because of Di Zhiqing and Lin Xiulan, but it seemed that not all of them were like sheep, following their leader.

He Lixue held a gentle smile on her face as she went to the trunk and picked up all the gifts she had made that day.

Looking at the potted orchid and the myriad of bags, the housekeeper was quite stunned. It was natural to bring presents when visiting, but so many? And the bags seemed to be from unknown places. This was mystifying.

Lu Nanfeng took He Lixue's hand and dragged her towards the manor. While He Lixue was not unhappy with the housekeeper's cold greeting, Lu Nanfeng was not pleased.

Fortunately, he had a good upbringing, and was not going to argue with the housekeeper in front of the manor, but his mood lowered slightly.

If the housekeeper was so cold, he could easily imagine the others' attitude in the manor.

Although his father had returned home, it was his mother who lived in the manor every day, and the servants would do almost anything to get on her good side.

Including insulting He Lixue.

He had to instill fear into these people's minds so that they did not have the chance to begin moving on her. He had invited her home to visit his father, and he was unwilling to see her being grieved, neither by his servants nor by his mother.
