At the banquet, many people were paying extra attention to Lu Nanfeng, and when He Huiling arrived close to him, everyone began listening in on their conversation.

There were some rumors floating around in the circle that Lu Nanfeng had taken a liking to the young miss of the He family, He Lixue, but they did not think that it was correct, considering the massive span in their status.

Now that He Huiling was being roasted like this, everyone had to reconsider their initial thoughts of He Lixue and Lu Nanfeng.

At this time, another woman entered the banquet. She was quite late, and her arrival caused many to be stunned by her beauty.

"Lin Xulian!" someone called out, and Lu Nanfeng's expression turned even uglier when he saw the woman who appeared. While she was extremely beautiful, he could not help but compare her to He Lixue.

While Lin Xulian was beautiful, she was so fake and smeared with makeup, while He Lixue was so natural and adorable.

Lin Xulian looked around in the hall, and when her eyes landed on Lu Nanfeng, her smile widened slightly.

"Nanfeng," she said as a greeting, but Lu Nanfeng just glanced at her, before he turned around, not inclined to pay any attention to her.

Everyone was shocked to see him ignore her so blatantly. It was clear that there was some sort of bad blood between them, but why would Lin Xulian look so hurt when she saw him like this?

"Nanfeng, I know it was my fault. I have already apologized. Please don't ignore me, I will become much better as a person and we just like we were before, right?" Lin Xulian was looking at him with moist eyes and almost begging for forgiveness. Everyone in the hall was looking at her with pity, how could Lu Nanfeng be so cold to such a beauty?

"If you continue talking to me, I will tell everyone present exactly what you did," Lu Nanfeng said with a casual voice, his words causing everyone to think twice. So it was Miss Lin who had made a mistake in the first place, and from what Lu Nanfeng said, and the expression that appeared on Lin Xulian's face at the moment, it was not something to be proud of.

Those in the know-how said nothing, but they looked at Lin Xulian with disdain. What she had done back then was simply revolting. It was no wonder that Lu Nanfeng was not going to forgive her.

Lin Xulian also knew that she could never let this matter be exposed, so she put on a small, but sad, smile and looked at Lu Nanfeng with eyes brimming with love, before she slowly retreated.

A sneer appeared on Lu Nanfeng's lips. This banquet was truly bad luck. First, he had to be entangled with He Huiling, and then Lin Xulian appeared. Could they not just let him mingle with his business partners without interrupting him?

The banquet continued like before. Many were curious as to what had happened between Lu Nanfeng and Lin Xulian, but no one dared to ask. The Lu family was the kings of the business world, and the Lin family were also quite influential.

While they would be able to afford to insult the Lin family, they could never survive against the Lu family.

No woman dared approach Lu Nanfeng for the rest of the evening. He was able to talk and discuss some business ideas with a few people, and although he was in a foul mood, he did not let it show on his face as he was as professional as always.

As the banquet ended, Lu Nanfeng was drunk from drinking a bit of wine, and he suddenly did not want to hurry home to his own mansion. Instead, he instructed the driver to drive towards the Golden River Estates.

As they arrived, he looked into the houses behind the fence, and he felt his heart speed up. He had had a horrible night, and now he felt a need to see He Lixue to cleanse his eyes.

Since he was slightly drunk, he acted on his emotions and pulled out his phone, dialed her number, and waited for her to pick up.

The phone rang almost to the end before a sleepy voice was heard on the other end of the phone, "Yes?"

"Lixue, I need a place to sleep tonight, why not let me sleep on your sofa?"

Hearing the voice, He Lixue woke up. "Brother Nanfeng?" She asked, her voice suddenly containing a trace of happiness, no longer added with the sleepiness from before.

"Mhm," Lu Nanfeng felt as if he owned the world when he heard her happiness, and quickly admitted that it was him.

"Hurry inside; I will give the guards a message right away!"

Moments later, the car drove towards the building where He Lixue lived, and when Lu Nanfeng stepped out of the car, he saw a small adorable person standing next to the door.

She was wearing a set of sleepwear and slippers, and she was shivering in the cold. Even so, a brilliant smile hung on her lips as she saw him appear.
