Forsaken By Love

It was late at night when Manager Mo finally arrived at the Golden River Estates and dropped off He Lixue. She smiled at him, thanked him, and entered through the gate.

The only ones able to visit the Golden River Estate were the ones who lived here or their guests, so she was not worried about her safety after entering.

As she made it to the flat, she opened the door and locked it behind herself, after which she went to bed. She slumped onto the bed, too exhausted to move and change her clothes, just lying down for a short time, before she finally sighed and stood up again.

She found her sleepwear, went to the bathroom, washed up, and climbed back into her bed, after which she fell asleep as soon as her head landed on the pillow.

He Lixue was extremely exhausted. As He Huiling had said before, she was not completely healed yet, and her body could not withstand the pressure she was putting on it. Although she knew her body well enough to know that there would be no lasting problems, she was also aware that pressing herself beyond her limits would cause her to heal slower.

Even so, He Lixue thought it was worth it. Although it took longer for her body to heal, she was able to earn some money, and she could repay the debt of gratitude she had towards Lu Nanfeng by creating an impregnable security system for his company.

While He Lixue was deep in sleep, Lu Nanfeng was at a banquet. This banquet was different from usual ones, this was one where only the top of the business world could participate in, and He Weiling had only managed to enter due to pulling all the strings available to him, and asking for favors left and right.

He had brought He Huiling with him, and he was planning on trying to get closer to Lu Nanfeng. Everyone knew that if you got close to the king of the business world, you would have a great future in front of you, but when they finally saw him, they noticed that there was a cold aura surrounding him, making no one dare advance to his side.

When He Huiliing's eyes landed on Lu Nanfeng, they glistened with youthful adoration and love. Although she did not feel that Jiang Jinnan was bad, he could not hold a candle to Lu Nanfeng.

She was well aware that Jiang Jinnan would not make it to this banquet, as their families, although magnificent, were not as highly ranked as the other participants.

As such, she could put down every worry of Jiang Jinnan seeing her chasing after another man, and she was going to aim for Lu Nanfeng, and keep Jiang Jinnan as her backup for the future. If it did not work out with Lu Nanfeng, then she could always return to Jiang Jinnan.

Unfortunately, she had not considered the gossipy nature of the upper class. If she truly tried to seduce Lu Nanfeng in front of all these people, would she not end up throwing her reputation away; not to mention that Jiang Jinnan would hear about it too.

He Huiling and her father, He Weiling, were amongst the lowest tier of the people who had arrived at the banquet. They were not really allowed entry, but because of all the many favors he had requested, and the strings he had pulled, they were allowed inside.

Many of the other participants at the banquet had also brought along a wife or a daughter as a companion. Those who brought their daughters did so in an attempt to try and make connections with other men, especially one such as Lu Nanfeng, so it was not only He Huiling who had this idea.

But up until now, no one had dared to go up to him, he was releasing an intimidating aura, and his hands held a glass of red wine which he was swirling in his hands casually.

He Huiling took a deep breath and looked at Lu Nanfeng with intoxicated eyes.

She began moving forward, completely not paying attention to his eyes that were full of murderous intent when he saw her.

"CEO Lu, what an honor to meet you again," He Huiling said with a smile on her face, she looked sweet and adorable, and many were suddenly focused on them, since Lu Nanfeng had been alone for so long, and now he was approached by a woman who did not belong in their circle.

Many of the women who looked at He Huiling were full of envy and jealousy. They also wanted to go to Lu Nanfeng's side, but since he had an expression of not allowing anyone to get close, the fathers had all said that they should not come close to him, in fear of annoying him.

Lu Nanfeng looked at He Huiling, and a sneer appeared on his lips. "Well, if it isn't Miss He," he said mockingly, and He Huiling was suddenly reminded of the last time they saw each other. Back then, she had caused problems for He Lixue, and now she wanted to integrate herself with Lu Nanfeng? That was the same as sending herself to be mocked.

"CEO Lu, please don't take the last time to heart. I was foolish and arrogant; I would like to apologize to you for my behavior."

"It is not me who you are going to apologize to but Lixue," Lu Nanfeng said casually as he glanced at He Huiling. "But it is quite ironic. You want to apologize for speaking badly of her, but you do not want to apologize for having stolen all her wealth and properties, just because she was in a coma."
