Forsaken By Love

Lu Nanfeng took He Lixue's hand and began walking away from the company in a calm and collected manner. He did not notice he had taken her hand, but it felt so natural that even He Lixue did not think about it either.

They left the company through the underground parking lot. Here, they entered Lu Nanfeng's car, a Maybach, and as she entered, she suddenly felt as if she was in a completely new world. The car was simply so expensive that she could never have entered it in her previous life.

Seeing her big eyes, Lu Nanfeng instantly knew that He Lixue knew about cars, but he was puzzled. This car had come out within the last three years, so how could she know about it?

Although she had been awake for some time, she had been busy. How could she possibly have had the time to look up on cars?

This little girl was a small treasure trove, she always brought him new surprises, and he could not help but glance at her curiously.

"Have you had time to eat yet?" Lu Nanfeng asked, but He Lixue shook her head. "Those guys from the IT Security Department were all too excited when they saw the firewall I created."

"Are you that good with computers?" Lu Nanfeng glanced at He Lixue, trying to sound her out. He had a feeling that something was not right with her, but he did not know what.

Also, he did not want to pressure her too much, but his curiosity was piqued.

A young woman from a wealthy family should not be like this. She should not be so calm, nor so composed when betrayed by her family. She should not be such a good hacker, nor have such knowledge about cars.

"Of course, I am! Back in the days I..." He Lixue was about to brag about her days as a world-renowned hacker, but then she realized who she was now and she embarrassedly scratched her nose, "back in the days I had too much spare time, so I started learning a lot of interesting things."

Lu Nanfeng noticed her embarrassed expression and knew that she was about to say something different, but he was not in a rush to uncover her secrets.

He Lixue was also aware that she had let her guard down around Lu Nanfeng. She had a feeling that he would always protect her.

Both of them smiled slightly as they looked at each other, their eyes glistened with happiness, and their lips curled upwards.

Neither of them spoke, they just felt comfortable in each other's company, but it was a weird feeling as if they had found someone to confide in, and they felt happy.

Lu Nanfeng drove the car to a restaurant. It was an upscale place, and He Lixue instantly knew that it was expensive. Looking around, she pulled on Lu Nanfeng's sleeve.

"It is too expensive to eat here!" she said with a low voice, and Lu Nanfeng was suddenly reminded of her situation again, but he smiled slightly and rubbed her head adoringly.

"Don't worry, it's my treat."

Hearing that Lu Nanfeng was treating her, He Lixue smiled sweetly, took his hand, and began swinging it like an adorable little child who was excited.

Lu Nanfeng chuckled. Seeing her act like this was cute. The parking valet was shocked when he saw the intimate gestures between Lu Nanfeng and He Lixue.

Everyone knew that Lu Nanfeng was never rumored to be together with any women. He had a few female friends, but none of them could get this close to him.

As they entered the restaurant, they were told that the private rooms were all occupied, so Lu Nanfeng decided to eat in the lobby.

As he seated He Lixue, he gave her the menu, before excusing himself to make a phone call.

While He Lixue was busy looking at the menu, she suddenly heard a mocking voice behind her.

"Well, if this isn't He Lixue, what are you doing here? Can you even afford to eat at such a luxurious place now?"

Looking up from the menu, He Lixue saw that He Huiling and Jiang Jinnan were standing arm in arm opposite her, their eyes filled with undisguised mockery and disdain.

"Dearest, she might use her last bit of money here. We should not judge her just because she is poor." Jiang Jinnan said as he was looking down on He Lixue.

He Lixue placed the menu on the table, looked at the two smug people and said, "Sorry, I am waiting for a friend, if you are busy, please don't let me stop you."

Seeing her that casual, both He Huiling and Jiang Jinnan felt as if they had punched cotton; it was simply uncomfortable.

"Oh, I see. You no longer have any money, so you are latching onto a money-tree. Tell me, how old is your friend? Is it one of those fifty-year-old men? Are you sure your body can handle it?"

He Huiling was fuming mad when she saw how casual He Lixue was, but before He Lixue had the time to reply, a cold voice sounded from behind the disgusting pair.

"What is going on here?" Lu Nanfeng had arrived, and he had heard pretty much everything that these two had said to He Lixue. He was furious. But his expression did not betray his feelings.

Looking at He Lixue, he noticed that she smiled gently at him. Clearly, she was trying to pacify him, but the result was that he was getting even angrier. Why would she pacify him when two such vile people were insulting her? She was likely devastated inside right now!
