Executor Of Justice

Chapter 18 - Kobold Monarch's Blindness

Physically blocking the Monarch's attack was impossible, his body was large enough to squeeze Hector entirely into a flat surface. He could only avoid the incoming strikes by dodging and using magic spells to attack him.

"Ka ka, I see why you've won against the two. But it looks like I was wrong. You're not as strong as I expected."

"Why don't you just say it after winning?"

"Don't worry, I will enjoy this match to the fullest."

As they were having a conversation, Hector was looking at his experience bar to level up as it was steadily gaining experience point overtime.

'Come on, just a little bit more. Guardian isn't enough for me to defeat this Monarch. I can only shield myself.'

Seeing Hector not being able to land much scratch to his body gave pride to the Kobold Monarch.

'Yes, this is how it should be. Human running for their life, having no ability to fight back at all.'

'Energy Coat! Frost Diver! Lightning Bolt!'

The magic ice didn't last more than a second before shattering because of the Monarch's high power. He directed the lightning bolt created out of the spell towards the face, but it was only a scratch. The Kobolds were cheering for their leader akin to worshipping their God like a fanatic. Feeling the taste of power, the Monarch now wanted to end the show to satisfy the audience.

When he was swinging his huge sword to Hector , a light flashed brightly around Hector , causing the Monarch to shield his eyes with his hands. Hector was breaking through the next realm , fighting against a Monarch Tier Monster was worth it.

'He's experiencing a breakthrough at this stage? How ?'

The Monarch was shocked to find that the young lad in front of him was emitting a much more powerful aura than before. The aura seems to be able to fight back any evil intentions harbored against him. He could see power being sent down to him from a divine being in real-time.

'A Holy Knight? No, that's impossible. If that's the case, I alone will not be enough to defeat him. While I may be strong, my powers would be depleted if I use it all and I don't know whether that pesky Lord will turn his back against me...'

The Monarch started to regret fighting against Hector; he forgot how unpredictable both the Holy and Dark Wielders can be. The world is a place large enough where you can find knowledge more vast than your home after all. While they were both lost in thoughts, the soldiers were running to the evacuation point. They decided it that the outpost is to be abandon because the price they have to pay to extort their defenses would be too high right now.

{All reserve personnel are to leave the area immediately. The frontline units led by Commander Ethelyn will cover your retreat. Good luck.}

{This is Pilot Captain Edward, all sh.i.p.s follow my lead, we're taking off.}

The sky was filled with transport and combat helicopters flying at an adjusted speed. The kobold was sure that today was their victory, seeing how none of the humans dared to interrupt the duel.

'I can't wait to beat them up.'

'This will be fun.'

[Calculating enemy weaknesses...

You've been granted the following temporary skill:

Holy Cross - Attacks the target with the power of the holy cross, dealing holy Dmg + M.Atk holy M.Dmg to an enemy. It also blinds the target for 10 sec.]

'This is not a bad skill. I'm still not sure if I'm powerful enough to beat him though.'

Seeing the kobold monarch in a worried state made a few kobold lords smirk in their faces. It was the time to finish off this old man, he was a hindrance to their ambition, he must be removed if their plan shall ever be executed.

'Holy Cross!'

A Holy Cross made of golden particles began moving towards the Monarch. The damage wasn't that high but we can consider it strong for Hector's level and the blind effect was good enough for him to case other spell skills unhindered. The kobold lords took this opportunity and signaled their assassins to betray the Monarch. Noticing their movement, he turned around and swung his great sword to them.

Sling! Plush!

He couldn't accept being defeated by a bunch of traitors, it was a disgrace to the law of nature and his dignity. Dying to an honorable opponent was much a better choice after all. Hector knew that while he should respect his opponent, he must not be swayed and do his duty. He cast multiple spells during the process.

'Frost Diver! Bullet Storm! Fire Ring!'

The Monarch directed his hand towards the incoming projectile, casting a spell to destabilize them.

'Nullvity - Cancel Gravity in a certain area.'

The projectile stopped for a moment, giving the Monarch a time to pick up his pace and form a defensive pose before it continued to direct towards him. Hector estimated the duel between them will take a long time before ending, considering how the Monarch intelligence seems to be high for a monster.

"I am impressed by your skills, Knight. Tell me what is your name?"

"Hector. And you?"

"Monarch of the Kobolds, Gutclaw. That name rings a bell, give me a moment..."

"What about your wounds?"

" Hah, those pesky traitors have always been planning on usurping the throne but they are not qualified, none of them are. Now that you mention it, tell me is your father's name [DATA EXPUNGED]?"

"How do you know his name?"

"Isn't it obvious, we had a duel before. But I lost and I was forced to swore to let any good man go. It was a long time ago though, I'm not sure if he still lives considering the way he lives."

The Monarch turned around and fixed his posture before putting his sword on his back.

"Consider yourself lucky, I look forward to our next meeting."

With a single shout, the kobolds ran as fast as they can away from the outpost. None of them wanted to share the same fate as the traitorous kobolds. Their body was horribly disfigured that not even their closest friends and families can recognize any part of them anymore. This left the soldiers dumbfounded at the scene they were seeing.

'Did they just retreated like that? So, we won?'

"We won? We Won! Quick, Inform the Regimental Commander and assume defensive positions in case they come back."

Hector had drained much of his magic power to the battle, he could feel his heart pumping too fast, he was kneeling on the ground, barely holding himself. Ethelyn, being a careful observer, noticed this and helped him stand up.

"Get a stretcher here!"

Hector's disciples were confused about what to do, they know their position was no more than agents under his commander, not an enforcer or anything. He was also older than them a bit so they felt awkward to carry him. Just by looking at their faces gives clear answers to Ethelyn about their situation.

'Just a bunch of amateurs I guess...'

Five medical soldiers soon rushed to the scene, picking Hector's body up to the stretcher and carrying it towards the infirmary where the doctor will be treating him. The disciples decided to wait for their "mentor" outside, they don't want anything to happen that might danger their life after all.

After a long hour of surgery and analysis, the doctor came out with a stern expression on his face.

"How is it, Doctor?"

"He is alright but he won't be fit for service for a few months. To let his body stabilize, it's best to let him enjoy civilian life."

"I understand, I will report this to the Regimental Commander. Hopefully, the Council won't be too mad. So, what will you guys do?"

"I guess we'll be returning to our daily lives until he recovers. Do tell him that."

Hearing that the Special Agent had recruited civilians into service shocked Regiment Commander Joseph. He spat out his latte coffee on the white floor.

" So you're saying that they have no military knowledge at all yet they are able to have extraordinary skills to complement it?"

"Yes, sir."

"Hmmm, normally I would take this case personally but since the Special Agent was in lead, he must have his own reasons. As they say, it's best to keep our hands out of their matter. We don't want to cause friction between either side."

"Also, the Marshal Commander has demanded that we move out to the Northern Outpost temporarily until further notice."

"He again? How many times does that political man want to interfere with military matters? Tell me, does the Security Bureau know about this? If not, I think we should give him our humble apology for losing face. Go take care of it, Commander."

"If that's all, then I will take my leave."

"Are you sure you don't want to pursue a regular woman's life? I saw your eyes sparkling for a while. Your father would also want you not to take this dangerous path. The game of politic is full of corruption. It's not too late to back down."

"That's what makes my blood boil," said Ethelyn as she leaves the room and shut the door.

Afterward, the young men and women were brought back to their respective homes by a taxi, where they would face their parents crying and hugging them.
