Executor Of Justice

Chapter 11 - Escaping the Dragon's Fury

Inside a large abandoned storage room, there lay a sleeping big dark lizard. It has a majestic crown horn and dark wings that would make any monster bow down to him. This is an ancient dark dragon. It was exhausted after chasing its prey and disappointed after failing to catch it.

'The human seems to get smarter. Have I neglected their evolution? This presence seems familiar, familiar to my archenemy. But he's dead, I'm probably just imagining things.'

The thing that surprised the dragon was that it had multiple holy types of equipment. Holy equipment was rare in the past, so it was normal for the dragon to consider it that way. The humans escaped from its grasp by throwing a holy attributed smoke grenade on its path. Such a small level attack shouldn't have worked on a mighty dragon, but the dark dragon received a heavy scar from the last war. The Archangel dragon launched an ambushed on his fortress and used an ultimate magic skill. The skill destructiveness was unimaginable, but it only affected those related to the dark element. He survived the attack at the cost of sacrificing his minions as meat shields and using most of his magic from his power storage. It will take a long long time before his powerfully regenerates. Using his power now might expose his whereabouts to the damn Archangel dragon, so he didn't bother playing with his toy.

The human the dragon was talking about was Danielle. She had survived the wrath of the dragon after disturbing its quiet sleep by accidentally stepping into a well-hidden alarm. Luckily, during the pursuit, she found an entrance to a secret laboratory. The metal door had a weird organization logo on it, but she didn't have time to think any further. Once she was in, she found out that the entrance door was locked. It forced her to walk down to a certain path as all the other doors were locked. The entrance zone was like an underground military prison that looks to have been used in the past century. The dead silence was scaring her, such a large facility, and no one was here beside her. She was optimistic that the only way out was to find the emergency evacuation plan. Considering that a good portion of the facility contains prison cells which most likely kept dangerous criminals, the information should be restricted to the security guards. Since she can never tell what danger she might face, she always put her blaster rifle ready to fire.

Entering what seems to be the security bunk, she saw multiple security corpse heavy mutilated as well as old guns lying around on the ground on a random order. On the wall near a corpse, there was a word written with blood that has dried: "RUN". Realizing the danger she was in, she quickly left the room and searched for the nearest emergency exit. To her dismay, each exit she found was under lockdown. Gathering her courage, she took the lift to the central block.

The central block can be said quite luxurious when compared to the other block. It seems to be the place for zone managers and directors to live in. The wall seems lively with its painting and stronger metal floor. The security system she saw here was quite tight as well for a place in the past. There was a few prototype version of current military security standard. Along the way, she found other corpses. This raised her awareness and she began moving slowly. The lightbulb near the central command block was turning on and off, sparkling some electric to its broken wires.

She saw a shadow figure moving inside the communication room, moving like a zombie.

Zombies shouldn't exist, right?

To confirm her suspicion, she opened the door slowly without any noise, to find her suspicion wrong. It does exist! The breathing sound and its way of moving were similar. The zombie happens to be a researcher of the facility. Since she didn't know yet whether it can survive her shots and more of them might be here, she didn't engage it but circle to collect information. She caught the eye of a small red notebook. It was titled #???.

Since it was not safe to read it in a room with a zombie, she left the room silently to find a safe room. In her wayfinding a keycard, she found an open armory. As she was about to swipe a keycard she found on the way to the control panel, a gun barrel was being pointed to her from behind.

"Don't move and drop your weapon if you still want to live."

From the tone of the voice, she could tell that the man was a professional and being serious. She carefully dropped her weapons and kicked it far away to the edge of the armory.

"Crouchwalk to the other end."

She obeyed the command and did exactly so. While she is brave enough to die, she still has a mission to accomplish. The man must know what happened in this place, so she asked her when her mouth was suddenly covered with a handkerchief.

"Shhh. He's here."

A sound of somebody walking through the corridors could be heard. He was also talking strangely. After confirming that he was far away from their location, the man released his grip.

"What was that?"

"Somebody you should not trust. He infects people to what you call zombies."

" Anyway. Who are you?"

"My identity doesn't matter. As long as you don't tell anyone about me, you will be fine."

The exoskeleton armor the man wore was identical to one that she was wearing. Except for the fact that the GTF logo is missing and the color is green.

"I'm sure you know better than I'm more experienced than you in living in this hell. I won't harm you as long as you don't do anything stupid."

"Fine, I will cooperate"

She picked her blaster rifle up and put it in safe mode so the man won't be too cautious against her.

"Good thing I met you. There is an escape path that requires 2 people to activate it. We'll go out in different areas though so don't be shocked when you don't see me."

"What do you need me to do?"

"There is a group of zombies blocking a power generator. I'll need you to create a distraction. Once it's up, don't wait for me, go to the exit point nearest to you. After that, you'll be all alone. Don't fail your mission soldier good luck."

He patted her on the shoulder and got to his position. Based on his character, she knew he was a good man. She had attempted to scan his identity, but a cloak was blocking her from doing it. Fortunately, she was able to confirm that he is a human being. She got to her position and thew a decoy grenade in her opposite direction. This attracted the zombie's attention and cause many others to fight over the toy. The sound the decoy made was that of a laser being shot.

A few zombies noticed the man's movement as he was about to turn on the generator. She aimed at the zombies' head and shot it. The laser bolt pierced through its head and blood began dripping on the floor. The power generator was turned on and the electric devices went back on.

"It's time, go to the exit!"

Green lights were flashing above the metal doors, indicating that power would soon be lost. She ran as fast as she can to the door and pulled the handle. The power went out and she did a slide to avoid a zombie's attack. She made it on time as the door forcefully close itself, splitting the zombie's head into two.

The scene she saw afterward dazed her mind. She was back in her hometown. The exit led her here, but how? How did the Republic connect their facility to a city under the Empire's management? Outside here, the signal communication was fully online, she contacted Operations Command about the recent incident. They were curious about the one behind this. They told her not to panic as reinforcements have been sent to Hector's location.

'There must be someone responsible for all of this. I wonder how long will it take until that day arrives. I'm tired of all these events. '

About eight Imperial Military Dropship Transport soon came into her view, inside each was a platoon of imperial soldiers, who were equipped with standard modern rifles and heavy modern combat armor. Only the I.S.B. and GTF were allowed to use futuristic technology at their disposal to prevent either side from breaking loose. One particular soldier in plain officer uniform rushed towards her and spoke respectably.

"I believe you had had a tiring day. Please allow me to send you to the local military base for some rest. Not to worry, an agent has been dispatched to monitor us."

"In that case, I shall take up your offer."
