" I want you to be careful too. Apparently someone has it out for Li Chen and they might even catch you in their line of fire. "Meng Hwa said seriously.

Li Jun was startled by his mother's words. He had expected her to say something along the lines of ....asking him to help her catch the culprit and punishing them for the sake of Li Chen's.

But Meng Hwa was only worried for him? .

"'Mom don't worry , I have a security team that works 24/7 for me and Yu Yan. Don't worry too much , you just need to take care of yourself." Li Jun smiled sincerely at his mother.

" And don't worry ,I will help search for the person who tried to kill my younger brother, of course" He offered. It rather be him in charge than anyone else.

"Jun er, I don't want you involved in this. These people seem very professional and experienced. It was done in such a way that they left no clues at all. Li Jianguo's investigation is fruitless till now. I feel that they deliberately missed killing him. I feel like it was only a warning. They seem like experienced cold blooded killers.. ." Meng Hwa said chillingly.

'Well..thank you mom for your compliments' Li Jun thought devilishly.

It had indeed been only a warning. He had deliberately aimed for Li Chen's right arm - his dominant hand. His suffering would only get sweeter.

It was a warning to Li Chen, if he was indeed the perpetrator of the assassination attempt on him and his wife, Li Chen would know what the shot was for but if he wasn't ,then, it was a message to the person trying to frame his idiot brother that he was on to them. Still Li Chen was involved and he had not qualms about killing him and that idiot father of Li Chen's either. ... They were alive because of the love and respect he still had for his mother and grandfather.... still his patience was running out fast.

Li Jun outwardly appeared worried and deep in thought.

The lesser he said ,the better it was. It was not like he was afraid of being caught ,on the contrary he wanted the war to be done out on an open-field but it was not what he wanted right now... Especially when Yu Yan and Meng Hwa still believed the best of him.

Anyway, he'd cross that bridge when he got there.

"Mom don't worry.. Let me speak to my chief of security. I, personally won't involve myself but I will let Greg handle it.. You still remember Greg right? " He asked a question so that his mother would not come up with another protest.

"Yes, of course I remember him. Let Greg handle it without alerting the enemy that you are behind the investigation. Maybe the enemy would know of your bad relationship with your brother and not pursue you.... that is IF ,it is only about Li Chen to them" Meng Hwa said not knowing Li Chen's enemy was just by her side.

Meng Hwa was sad thinking about her son's condition at the hospital. She needed to head back after lunch.

" Mother in law.." Yu Yan said softly as everyone turned to her.

She got up from her chair and passed Meng Hwa the golden buns.

" You haven't touched your food . Please try these buns. They are pretty good" She added with her sweet voice.

Meng Hwa smiled satisfactorily at her daughter in law and said.

"Xiao Yan, you should call me mother from now.. 'Mother in law' sounds so evil." Meng Hwa said as she took a bun to her plate and ate it deliciously.

"Oh? it is indeed very tasty" Meng Hwa said honestly.

"Mom ,let me try one too. Sis in law Yu Yan ate it so deliciously earlier that I really wanted to try it but she didn't offer me one" Li fen teased Yu Yan as Yu Yan gasped embarrassed.

Meng Hwa laughed loudly and Li Jun chuckled too.

"She really likes these buns. She would never allow even me to eat one from her plate ..when I was still dating her" Li Jun recalled his grievances and chuckled.

" But you could always buy your own. You just wanted to tease me back then." Yu Yan explained herself seriously.

Everyone burst out laughing.

Thus, Yu Yan neutralized the heavy atmosphere and all that remained was four family members eating and chatting happily in a grand dining room.
