CHAPTER 43

All through the drive back, Andromeda did not utter a word to him and neither did he. First of all, she did not want him butting into fights for her and wanted to lead her life the way she could.

If he continued that way, then indeed rumours would be let out about their involvement and how she got her position without people seeing her for who she was.

And knowing how the loves of the rich folks worked, she wanted to lead a quiet life as possible as she could without attracting more unwanted attention to herself.

Little did she know that just being seen with him alone, had done more than attract that unwanted attention.

Liu Xueyi stole a glance at her before fixing his eyes on the road again. Although he did not know a lot about what happened before he got there, he guessed it was something pretty big for her to get into a fight.

A smile hung on his lips as he lifted his hand to the back of her head and rubbed on her hair gently.

This sudden little action of his had brought her mind back to reality. Andromeda moved her head in his direction while wearing a confused look of 'what are you doing?'

In the end, all she got was a warm smile from him. "That must have hurt. You can cry if you wish to. I won't laugh," he mused.

"You won't laugh? You are already on a laughing spree," Andromeda accused him, her eyes going wider at his reaction. "Liu Xueyi."

"Relax. I am kidding. But does it hurt? We can stop at a pharmacy on the way, to get you drugs," he offered.

"That is sweet but I would be okay. And," she returned her gaze to the side of his face. "Thanks for helping out."

"You are welcome."

"Even though you were called an old bellied thwart," Andromeda giggled.

SCREEECHHHH!

No sooner had those words fell out of her mouth than Liu Xueyi did the most absurd thing, stepping on the brakes like that.

Her eyes flew open, her heart beating wildly in her chest, making her eardrums want to burst.

She blinked severally and reached for her chest while her hand rubbed on the area, soothingly.

After some seconds, she heard the honk coming from cars behind them but that was not a surprising thing. Andromeda snapped her head to the side. "Xueyi!"

Hearing her scream, he pursed his lips into a thin line. Not saying anything, he moved the car off the road, ignoring all the yells from outsiders.

At that moment, Andromeda could only be grateful she wore her seat belt and his car glass was tinted. Else she would have died from embarrassment.

Liu Xueyi's grip on the steering tightened. One look at the young CEO and one would know he was contemplating on whether or not to do that which was on his mind.

"Liu Xueyi," Andromeda called out again.

He whipped his head to the side as well, leaning in her direction as he placed an arm in front of her while the other rested on her chair.

His eyes darkened as he peered into her eyes sternly. The look in his eyes was both intimidating and scary for Andromeda. This was the first time she had witnessed so much in a short while.

She blinked at him, holding her breath in and waiting for the inevitable. And when it finally came, her eyes remained wide.

"Who are you calling an old bellied thwart?" His eyes dimmed at her, scanning her face for God knows what.

"I-I… " she gulped. He lifted a brow at her, expectantly. Sadly, her thoughts abandoned her at that moment.

"You what? Would an old bellied thwart be so capable of being this stunning and agile?"

No matter how hard she tried to find the right words to defend herself, she just could not think of anything. "I-I…" In the end, she voiced out anything her mouth could make up. "You are close."

"I am. So what?"

"I-It is…" she stuttered and scanned his eyes too before lowering her gaze, intimidated by his look. "Inappropriate," Andromeda added.

She watched his Adam's apple bob up and down from her words. "And so?"

"So?" She found her boldness and guts rushing back. "A man and a woman shouldn't be…" she did not get to finish her statement when his face already leaned closer to hers.

Her breathing hitched. Her eyes flung close and her lips remained pursed together. Ignoring her, Liu Xueyi brought his face closer but stopped a few inches from hers.

The sweet smell of her perfume assaulted his nostrils, sending his senses far and his eyes flew wide open.

Instantly, scenes from the night before came flashing into his mind. Slowly he peeled his gaze from her face to her neck.

His blood rushed and boiled like that fateful night. The more he stayed in that position, the more his heart began to beat at an unsteady rhythm in his chest.

Liu Xueyi's eyes flew back up, his gaze lingering on her lips. The more he stared at those succulent pink lips of hers, the stronger he felt pulled in to want to brush his against hers.

Words could not describe what he felt, hot, thirsty, needy. And he went for it, drawing closer to her face, an inch at a time.

He wished to stop but at the same time, he wanted to know what her lips tasted like.

'Just one ki...'

HONK!

His eyes flew open. Reality began to dawn on him. What was he about to do?

Instinctively he pulled away and returned to his side of the car.

He shifted in his seat. It took him some seconds to get himself back together and snap out of his reverie but when he directed his gaze at her, she still had her eyes closed.

A smile pressed on the corners of his lips and he reached for her head, giving her forehead a light flicker of his finger.

"Ouch."

"Open your eyes, naughty girl."

As much as Andromeda wanted to refute his words, she dared not. No one wanted a repetition of the incident of just now. Her heart almost flew into her mouth. She eyed him but remained silent and accepted it.

'I would get back at you, Liu Xueyi.' Andromeda planned in her mind.

With that, he kick-started the car and drove off.
