Please show some love and support for the novel on my Ko-fi!

Apologies everyone! I did it again, I’m so sorry. But there’s also missing paragraphs of the previous chapter which I’ve now added in. Please read those first! I’m so sorry this has happened a second time. I must have some file issues. Hoping it’ll not happen again!

“What do I have…?” It took a bit for Shu Nian to fully digest his words. Before she could finish speaking, she looked at him in a daze. “You, you can talk?”

Xie Ruhe withdrew his eyes but he didn’t say anything.

After reacting, Shu Nian’s heart filled with the type of annoyance one has when they get teased. Maybe it was because this kind of situation was hard to come by so her whole face turned red. She was so angry that she couldn’t even utter a single word.

A long time later, Shu NIan mumbled sadly: “How can you be like this… you lied.”

Xie Ruhe frowned: “I didn’t say anything.”

“Correct.” Shu Nian was even more angry because of his words. “You didn’t say anything. When I asked if you could talk, you didn’t talk. Now you’re telling me that you never said you couldn’t talk. You’re too outrageous!”

Shu Nian couldn’t think of any mean words to say and neither could she scold him. She couldn’t speak coherently either.

Just those words were already like a tongue twister to her.

Xie Ruhe didn’t hear her clearly, he had only heard the last five words. When she stopped, he raised his eyes and calmly asked: “Have you finished scolding me?”

Shu Nian immediately retorted: “When did I scold you?”

Hearing those words, Xie Ruhe looked bland: “Right, you didn’t.”

“…”

His kind of attitude was the kind that added fuel to the fire.

Shu Nian had big and round eyes. At that moment, they were dropping and she looked very pitiful. She took a deep breath and said with a sullen face: “I was defending you and in turn you actually said that I was defective.”

Xie Ruhe’s lips moved but he didn’t get to say anything.

Shu Nian immediately said: “Is it because I wrongly accused you that day that you’re like this?”

“…”

“Then I’m sorry!” Her tone was fierce but she appeared to be like a little kitty scratching people with nailless claws. “Don’t I come by everyday to apologise to you? But you don’t listen to me.”

“I didn’t have time.”

“Liar.” Shu Nian rudely exposed him. “You’re just being petty. I’m still young so it’s normal for me to think inconsiderately but once I know I’m wrong, I will go and correct my mistakes. Obviously, this shows that I’m a noble character.”

“…”

“I let you borrow my umbrella and I did a good deed. But because of this, I was scolded by my mother. Now you’re actually giving me this kind of attitude. You are too, too…” Shu Nian couldn’t swear so she just changes her words. “You have gone too far!”

Xie Ruhe, who had been told that he “too much” twice found it funny: “You’re here to apologise?”

“Yes.” Shu Nian immediately took control of her rage. Her voice was muffled but she didn’t forget her original intention. Although she felt wronged, she still took a deep breath and said after a long while: “I’m sorry, I judged you too quickly that day. I wrongly accused you.”

Xie Ruhe hummed softly.

Shu Nian said: “You answered so I’m taking this as you accepting my apology.”

He didn’t respond anymore.

Shu Nian didn’t want to talk to him anyway. She pursed her lips and walked towards the direction of the stairs.

“Goodbye then.”

For a long time, she never saw Xie Ruhe again. He was on the third floor and she was on the second floor. If she didn’t deliberately look for him, they wouldn’t coincidentally meet.

Shu Nian gradually pushed that matter and person to the back of her mind.

In a blink of an eye, half of the semester passed by and the mid-term exams rolled around. Once the results came out, the school arranged for a parents meeting.

After that, something happened at school.

" "

Something big.

Only two days were left before the parents meeting.

Chen Xiang, who was in Class 5 in the second grade of Shiyan Junior High School never came home after school. The parents called the head teacher at 10:00 pm that night. The head teacher immediately contacted a girl who had a good relationship with Chen Xiang but learnt that she was picked up by her father after school and did not go home with Chen Xiang as usual.

Chen Xiang’s parents immediately realised the seriousness of the situation and went to the police station to fill a missing person’s report.

The technology in town was lagging behind and most areas didn’t have cameras installed. After two days of investigating, the police still couldn’t find Chen Xiang. They only knew that the last place she was seen in was in a convenience store near the school.

Shu Nian learnt all of that from Chen Hanzheng.

At lunch, there was no air conditioning in the classroom and the old fans there rotated without any giving off any effect. Shu Nian went to the stairs for lunch with a group of students that she didn’t have a bad relationship with.

It had much better ventilation than the stuffy classroom.

Five or six people were chatting there.

Shu Nian adhered by the rule of not talking so she didn’t say a single word but had chosen to listen to them very seriously.

After a while, Chen Hanzheng suddenly lowered his voice and said mysteriously: “Hey, have you heard? Chen Xiang from Class 5 has been missing for two days now.”

Hearing that, the others fell into silence.

Before long, a boy smiled and said: “Did she run away from home? She could be at a friend’s house.”

“The police have already been called so it definitely can’t be.”

One of the girls opened her mouth, as if she didn’t believe it. Her voice trembled: “How, how can she just disappear?”
