Shu Nian’s words made Chen Hanzheng’s expression instantly stiffen. He wanted to be angry with her but her expression was calm, without any mockery like she was speaking the truth.

Chen Hanzheng took a deep breath and returned to his seat.

At first, Shu Nian didn’t know why he was angry.

Fearing that he thought she was deliberately being sarcastic. She went up to him to explain herself.

“I’m not lying to you. That boy looks really good. It’s the kind of good-looking that without needing to deliberately emphasising like you, type of good-looking.”

As a result, Chen Hanzheng became even more angry and stared at her to chase her away.

Shu Nian was stunned by him and after realising the situation did she understand why he was angry with her. Her expression became a little strange but she still said nothing more. She “oh’ed” and returned to her seat.

If asking Chen Hanzheng wouldn’t work then Shu Nian didn’t know who else to ask.

It wasn’t that she had a bad relationship with the others but Chen Hanzheng a wide network. He even knew who the eldest brothers and sisters of Shiyan High School were. Shu Nian just thought that if there was someone who knew who that boy was, it would be Chen Hanzheng.

But right then, Chen Hanzheng clearly believed that he was the most handsome boy in Shiyan Junior High School. If she refuted him then he would get even more angry.

Shu Nian didn’t want to lie so she would need to have to find another way. She sadly sighed.

He Xiaoying, who was sitting on the same table as them saw her expression and curiously asked: “What’s wrong?”

Shu Nian didn’t hide it and honestly said: “I want to find someone.”

She then apologised.

“Who is it, are they in our school?”

“Well.” She didn’t think He Xiaoying would know him but she had asked and Shu Nian didn’t seem to have a problem with answering. “Junior high school, I don’t know which grade he is in but he’s a very handsome boy.”

“Ah——”

There were only three descriptions: “junior high school”, “handsome” and “boy”.

It was like looking for a needle in a haystack, there should have been a lot of answers. However, He Xiaoying only thought of one person and hesitated to ask: “Is it Class 5’s Xie Ruhe?”

“Xie Ruhe?” Shu Nian blinked. She didn’t expect her to be able to produce a name. “Do you know him?”

“I know, ah. Wan Qiong give him a love letter last week, don’t you know?” He Xiaoying whispered and added mysteriously. “Many girls in our class like him. I’ve heard it several times. When people exchange secrets, it’s always ‘I like Xie Ruhe’.”

Shu Nian frowned: “Really? How old are they?”

“…” He Xiaoying didn’t continue with the topic. “Why are you looking for this person? If it’s Xie Ruhe, it’s better not go and find him. He’s a bad student and always skips class. He’s so gloomy that it looks scary.”

When she heard the words “skips class”, Shu Nian’s brows knitted tighter together, but when she heard “gloomy” after, she suddenly became cheerful: “That should be him.”

“No way, it’s really him?” He Xiaoying was scared by her words. “What are you doing with a bad student?”

Shu Nian lowered her eyes. Her dense eyelashes covered the emotions in her eyes. She used her fingertips to pull on the small threads on her clothes, seemingly ashamed. Her voice was low and vague: “I did something wrong.”

He Xiaoying didn’t hear clearly: “What?”

It just so happened that the bell for class rang.

Shu Nian was relieved and sat up straight. She didn’t bring it up again and raised her eyes but avoided He Xiaoying’s gaze.

“It’s class time.”

The longer that matter dragged on, the more guilty Shu Nian became. She would always think of that matter and it would always dampen her mood. She would feel like she had suddenly aged many years because of it.

She became like an adult who had many worries.

She couldn’t do things too frankly, she still had to hide it from He Xiaoying.

Shu Nian wanted things to go back to normal.

After class, she immediately left the classroom and went to the third floor to the door of Class Five. She stood outside for a while, not daring to rush into other people’s class.

Afraid that she wouldn’t get to see Xie Ruhe by the time next period started, she asked a girl who was coming out.

“Classmates, can you call Xie Ruhe who is in your class for me?”

The girl looked at her as if she had encountered this far too many times. With a clear expression: “I don’t dare call him. You can go in and find him yourself. He’s in the last row of the innermost group.”

Shu Nian hummed and awkwardly went in through the back door.

Most of the students were in the classroom.

Junior high school was not very urgent so only a few students would study at the end of class. Most people would just get together to chat so several people turned back.

They noticed Shu Nian’s strange look and they showed a curious expression. The student sitting directly opposite the podium also turned around and looked at her. Oddly, he felt like he was going to watch a good play.

Shu Nian took back her gaze and didn’t look anywhere else.

Class 5’s classroom was divided into four groups with five rows. It was two people per row but there was only one table in the last row of the innermost group. A teenager was sleeping on his stomach.

The teenager wore a coat and only his bare neck and slender fingers were exposed. The curtains on his side were pulled shut, but there were still some sunlight shining on him.

Dust was flying in the air and there was a faint light on his hair.

Shu Nian hesitated and went to stand beside him.

The teenager didn’t move. He didn’t seem like he would wake up without being called. Shu Nian was too embarrassed to wake him so she just stood still and fixed her eyes on him.

It was a gaze filled with eagerness and expectancy, as if it carried a type of heat.

It seemed like she wanted him to feel her burning gaze and wake up.

There was a boy who can’t stand it anymore.

He wanted to watch an exciting show but one of them didn’t want to act so there was no chance of a play happening at all. The boy volunteered to shout: “Hey! Xie Ruhe! Someone is looking for you!”

He still didn’t move.

About half a minute later, the teenager in front of her lazily raised his head.

The pair of peach blossom eyes was clear and distinct. They seemed drunk but not smiling, giving off an affectionate illusion. His facial features were neat and cold, with a natural hint of hostility. His thin lips were straight with no emotion.

Shu Nian was relieved.

She had found the right person.

The next moment.

Xie Ruhe turned his head and looked at Shu Nian who as standing at his side.

The two people looked at each other.

Time seemed to have frozen.

Shu Nian nervously grasped the hem of her school uniform. She felt too embarrassed to directly apologise to him there. She struggled with how to phrase her words.

Xie Ruhe glanced at her up and down.

One second, two seconds.

Shu Nian swallowed her saliva and was about to call him out to talk.

Xie Ruhe lowered his eyes and lay on the table again. His movements are very natural, like the previous sleeping position was uncomfortable and he was getting up to change position.

He completely ignored her existence.

“…”

Because of that, Shu Nian was laughed at by the people in Class 5.

Shu Nian had a high tolerance and was not angry about it, but Xie Ruhe’s attitude made her realise the seriousness of the matter.

In her opinion, although Xie Ruhe couldn’t speak, through their first two encounters, Shu Nian could feel that he was a very polite person. But this time, he was so angry that he even abandoned his upbringing.

It seemed that what she had done was really too harsh.

In order to apologise, Shu Nian ran to the third floor between classes but never found a suitable opportunity to do so.

Xie Ruhe either slept on his stomach in all the class breaks or disappeared to who knows where until the school bell rang.

Once, when Shu Nian was coming from the first to the third floor, she saw him coming back from the toilet.

It was a hard-won opportunity that she must really cherish. She quickly ran over and gasped beside him: “Xie Ruhe, I have something to say to you.”

They were quickly approaching the door of Class 5.

Shu Nian was very worried that he would just go straight in the classroom, but she didn’t dare to touch him lest he threw her away again. She raised her voice and became anxious but she still sounded soft.

“I’ve come to apologise to you!”

As soon as those words fell out, his footsteps halted.

Xie Ruhe turned his head to the side to glance her. His eyes were very dark and his crow-like eyelashes make those eyes look deeper. His skin was very pale and she could see the black bags under his eyes. He looked sick but his lips was bright red.

He stood there quietly, appearing gentle.

Shu Nian felt a sense of bitterness and joy at her success. She relaxed a lot after his response. She licked her lips and seriously said. “It’s just that, last time I-”

Shu Nian didn’t even get to finish saying her opening lines. She didn’t even get to the main reason for her visit.

The next second, Xie Ruhe gently tilted up the corners of his mouth and strode into his classroom.

Shu Nian: “…”

He was the moodiest person Shu Nian has ever met in her life.

She could admit that she has barely seen the world, but she was not someone who had never met strange people.

For example, there was an uncle who opened a breakfast shop but could never get up to make breakfast; for example, the convenience store aunt’s son was obviously a grown up man but he would wear women’s clothes all day and ask her to call him older sister; for example, the school security guy who liked to sing at the school gate with a microphone during school hours.

However, Shu Nian had found all of them to be pretty funny and entertaining.

Xie Ruhe’s behaviour made her feel a little angry, but because she was in the wrong first, she could only continue to lower her head.

Shu Nian had lived for 13 years but that was the time she felt the most wronged.

The matter lasted another two or three days.

Later on, Shu Nian no longer went to his class between lessons. She would only go to the third floor to find Xie Ruhe when she had time and had remembered the issue.

Recently, something happened.

As soon as Shu Nian went to the door of Class 5, she saw several boys surrounding Xie Ruhe. She couldn’t hear what the leader said, but after it, the group of people laughed loudly.

Xie Ruhe said nothing in return and turned to walk in the other direction.

Seeing that scene, Shu Nian’s mind conjured up a scenario——they were laughing at Xie Ruhe’s inability to speak. They were poking at his scars and even sprinkling salt on them.

During that period of time, because of Xie Ruhe’s attitude in the past, Shu Nian was not very happy with him.

However, she still pursed her lips and chased after him.

“Xie Ruhe.” Shu Nian walked beside him and asked in a low voice. “Were they laughing at you?”

Xie Ruhe said nothing and looked down.

Shu Nian didn’t know how to comfort him. Shu Nian thought back to the incident earlier and stumbled around to say: “Did you notice that the boy just now had dimples?”

“…”

“Did you know? Dimples are caused by muscle defects in the cheek.” Shu Nian lifted her head up. Her palm-sized face was white and clear. “So this means that boy is a flawed person.”

“…”

Shu Nian didn’t know what she was saying anymore: “Anyway, you, you can now laugh back at him…”

Hearing those words, Xie Ruhe suddenly looked at her. His bangs hung down to his eyebrows and his pupil was dark. The bottom of his eyes was blue-greyish. His face, which usually had no emotions actually looked a little thoughtful at that moment.

He stared at the dimples on her cheeks.

After such a long time, Xie Ruhe opened his mouth to speak to her for the first time. His young voice was clear and the emotions being expressed were light.

At that moment, Shu Nian could have swore that she was hallucinating.

“You have them too.” He whispered.
