Shu Nian looked at the candy in his hand and at the other hand he was using to grasp hers. Then, she looked up at him and asked in puzzlement. “Is touching my hand a crime?”

Xie Ruhe didn’t answer her.

Shu Nian didn’t take the other candy in his hand and neither did she mention what had just happened again. She retracted her hand and tore open the candy wrapper before plopping it into her mouth: “You can eat that one.”

The two of them entered the house.

Xie Ruhe lowered his head and looked at his hand. He shook it a little. The warmth from her hand remained in his.

His mood suddenly became extremely light.

They entered the living room from the hallway.

Fang Wencheng was sitting on the sofa with a heavy face as if he was experiencing something awful. Noticing that they were back, he immediately stood up with a slightly nervous smile.

Shu Nian greeted him.

Fang Wencheng showed a self-reproaching expression to Xie Ruhe but forced a smile in Shu Nian’s direction: “Miss Shu is here.”

" "

Xie Ruhe suddenly opened his mouth to speak: “Fang Wencheng.”

Fang Wencheng immediately looked at him. He appeared very polite and upright: “Teacher, what’s the matter?”

Xie Ruhe pulled up the corners of his mouth. He didn’t look like his usual self. His tone was not sharp, it was even a little gentle and he said it with a smile: “This is the last time.”

“…” Fang Wencheng’s back was inexplicably cold. It was clear that he was referring to the issue with Xu Zeyuan. “Okay, I understand.”

Shu Nian saw the atmosphere between them and felt strange but there was nothing for her to say.

Soon, Fang Wencheng was ordered by Xie Ruhe to do a few things so he went out. When it was time, Shu Nian followed Xie Ruhe into the recording studio.

As soon as she entered the working state, Shu Nian would seriously call Xie Ruhe “teacher”. She didn’t want him to give her any preferential treatment. His tone would stiffen from time to time and she could only think about the things that she did wrong with a guilty conscience.

During their time in the studio, they rarely talked about any personal matters.

They would just occasionally say a few words to each other.

Shu Nian entered the recording room and went to the microphone to put on the headphones. She adjusted her state of mind and cleared her throat. The next moment, Xie Ruhe’s voice came through from the headphones: “Shu Nian.”

Shu Nian nodded: “Teacher, I’m ready.”

Xie Ruhe looked at her from the control room. After a few seconds of silence, he said: “Listen to the accompaniment first.”

“Okay.”

A lively and clear melody played in her ears. It was mixed with Xie Ruhe’s voice which sounded calm like he was just casually chatting with her: “You asked Fang Wencheng about me yesterday?”

“…” Shu Nian came out of her zone in an instant. She was a little embarrassed. “Assistant Fang told you?”

“He usually reports everything to me.”

Shu Nian didn’t look at him and whispered: “En…”

Xie Ruhe asked. “Why didn’t you ask me instead?”

She didn’t know how to explain herself so she just apologised in a low voice: “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that.”

Xie Ruhe paused and wondered out loud. “Why are you apologising?”

“…” Isn’t that what he wanted by speaking to her like that?

“You can just ask me.” Xie Ruhe looked serious. “There is no need to ask other people.”

Shu Nian subconsciously nodded: “Okay.”

It was quiet for a few seconds.

Xie Ruhe suddenly called her again: “Shu Nian.”

“What’s wrong?”

“I will stick to it.”

Shu Nian was surprised and then remembered what she had said that to Fang Wencheng yesterday——”You have to make him stick to it.”

Her gaze landed on the transparent glass. Xie Ruhe sat under the light. His dense eyelashes cast dark shadows over his eyes. The pair of peach blossom eyes was slightly narrowed but his black pupils were deep and bright.

He looked at her as if he was saying some important promise.

Shu Nian looked at him and curled her lips: “Okay.”

Fang Wencheng’s statement of, “it normally only takes one or two hours to record a song” didn’t apply to Shu Nian at all. It took her more than a week to record the whole song.

On the last day of her going over there after recording the song, she stayed to have dinner at Xie Ruhe’s house.

It was actually proposed by Fang Wencheng.

Those days, Shu Nian usually left the recording studio at 7:00PM. Fang Wencheng would then drive her home according to Xie Ruhe’s own demands. Shu Nian became more familiar with him over time that she gradually lost the awkwardness in their first meeting.

Shu Nian originally wanted to refuse the offer.

But when she glanced over, she suddenly noticed Xie Ruhe who had his lowered head. She remembered seeing him sitting alone at the dining table and Shu Nian agreed.

The three of them had dinner together.

When Shu Nian ate, she usually didn’t like talking. Xie Ruhe didn’t speak much in general so when he eats, he would be even more silent. Fang Wencheng was the only one left on the dinner table who would talk on endlessly.

Xie Ruhe was already gloomy because of the extra person but the most annoying thing was that the person didn’t even know about his annoyance. He kept making his existence known. Xie Ruhe stopped his chopsticks and softly asked. “Did you always speak so much?”

Fang Wencheng immediately shut up.

Shu Nian sat on the side and watched Xie Ruhe bully Fang Wencheng. She had the urge to laugh.

After dinner, she didn’t stay long. Fang Wencheng opened the front door and went out first. She followed him and said goodbye to Xie Ruhe. Before she could close the door though, Xie Ruhe suddenly called out to her: “Shu Nian.”

Shu Nian glanced back.

Xie Ruhe looked at her and spoke. “Let’s contact each other when we have time.”

After completing the song, she didn’t have to make a trip over to Xie Ruhe’s house on a daily basis anymore. Her life had changed back to how she lived before. She returned to running back and forth between different recording studios every day.

A voice actor didn’t have any fixed holidays. She planned to stay in the recording studio for New Year’s Day but the cold that she had just recovered from came back because of the cold winter.

Fortunately, she didn’t take on any jobs in the past few days so she just stayed at home.
