During these few days with the start of school, the liveliness of the nursery school could even compare to a few supermarkets- all the people in the office were so busy they were circling round in circles, where being in a hot temper was a normal state.

Their office no longer had the bit of a leisurely atmosphere, and everyone started getting busy.

These days, Wen Ming was so busy, he would be thinking about work while he was eating. Today when he was in front of the computer filling out forms, their president walked over and knocked on his desk.

Wen Ming straightened his back, “President.”

“Xiao’Wen, working? Can I bother you for a bit?”

“Go ahead.”

“Also xiao’Bai, I have something here, both of you listen together first.”

Ms. Bai who just returned to her seat also put her work down, “Okay, President.”

“Next week, our city has an important educators meeting before school starts, and our school has been given a seat. According to previous tradition, the opportunity to study is assigned to new teachers. Let’s decide on it right now, which one of you two will go this time?”

Holding meetings were said to be a chance to learn for new teachers, but in its essence, meant an unpaid overtime business trip on an off-work day, where newcomers had priority.

Their work was the type that the more the days got closer to opening, the more busier they’d get, where all sorts of opening plans and materials spun around. In its busiest time, one could pretty much only sleep three to four hours.

To take time to go on a business trip at this kind of time where they were so busy it was like fire set to dry tinder, people would be wrung dry.

Though Ms. Bai was not as understanding as Wen Ming, but as a newcomer, she was also put in a hard position. Faced with the president’s inquiry, she could not say anything for the time being.

The president was still standing at the desk waiting for them.

Wen Ming looked at Ms. Bai once as though perceiving something, then raised his hand up, “I’ll go then.”

In this moment, Ms. Bai let out a big breath inside.

Mr. Wen this time really…… did her a big favour.

Of course, she would not think that Wen Ming was stealing contributions. To tell the truth, she also just graduated, and in these days, undertaking the new class’ children and dealing with various parents was already exhausting. She already had a lot of pressure, and was afraid she would not do well.

If they made her let go of this and go to the meeting now, Ms. Bai was not sure if she could deal with it.

“That’s okay.” The president answered, “However, if I remember correctly, didn’t Mr. Wen go last year as well? Still you this year?”

Wen Ming replied with a smile, “I already have experience from last time, you don’t need to change people for this time.”

The president agreed to it, then after telling Wen Ming the important matters like needing to wear formal wear, he left the desk.

Ms. Bai felt especially sorry, and afterwards, took two fruits and placed it on Wen Ming’s desk.

Before she even said anything, Mr. Wen’s one word took upon the unpaid overtime work.

Mr. Wen who received the fruits smiled kindly.

Having been liberated from a superior’s pressure, when Ms. Bai pulled out the chair to sit down all fatigued, her expression suddenly changed.

They still maintained that position without moving, but the little lady’s facial colour could be seen to turn red with the naked eye.

Today, she was wearing a small skirt. At this time and moment, on the edges of her skirt, a snow-white tail was silently and guiltily shrinking back due to its owner.

Normally, this kind of circumstance would appear when a beastman’s emotions surged to a certain degree, like being overly excited or overly nervous, and would lead to the tail unknowingly running out on its own.

Normally, it wouldn’t be that easy for it to come out…… Ms. Bai felt a bit constrained.

Mr. Wen probably suggested going after seeing her own tail just now.

She did not know how many times she seriously felt grateful for Wen Ming today. She just came out of practicum, and met such a good person.

Today, Wen Ming stayed back to finish the bulletin wall on one side of the class. He finished the preliminary materials and union affairs, then finally replied to a few parents’ messages one by one.

Wen Ming whose neck was aching lifted his head up to look, and saw that the skies outside the window were dark. The sun long already set, yet he was so busy he was unaware of it all.

The seemingly big office was left with him, and the clock on the wall leisurely pointed towards nine o’clock.

He accidentally did overtime again.

For early childhood educators, this kind of overtime work with no overtime pay was no more ordinary. Wen Ming reached out and took off his glasses, and massaged his aching and unbearable neck.

But today, he forgot about the time, and indeed worked too late.

Wen Ming stood up, packed his stuff, and prepared to clock out.

After walking out the nursery school gates, he hesitated for a bit. It was late today, so he did not be like usual and choose to wind around roads.

This was also the first time he walked at night.

Perhaps the more one didn’t want something, the more likely it was to come. Once he was not even one street away from his home, his back suddenly had a figure silently approach.

At the time Wen Ming felt it was not right, that person was already in a place very close to his back.

“Don’t move.”

He lowered his voice in intimidation.

Wen Ming froze. His back waist was being poked by an eerie coldness at this time.

It was the sharp tip of the knife in this person’s hands that pierced through his clothes, and was being pushed on his waist.

Wen Ming did not dare to recklessly move for the time being, and inconspicuously observed the surroundings. After entering the night, this street was only left with a few passersby, the closest store was a bit distant from him, and his anti-wolf repellent was placed in his bag.

What to do?

Before Wen Ming could dillydally, the person behind simply ordered him:

“Walk.”

The piercing pain on his back waist became more apparent now. He had pushed the knife forward a bit. The coldness of the tip’s sharpness leapt up along his spine. Wen Ming bit down, and could only go along with his intentions, and be forced to walk forward.

Right now, Wen Ming’s entire mind was left with one thought.

It’s over.

……

He was unsure if it was suitable to say it like this, but the current circumstances, in truth, were much better than what he anticipated earlier.

—— Wen Ming, full of smudges leaning on the foot of a wall was thinking of this at this moment.

Seeking revenge on him was better than finding the innocent nursery school to cause trouble.

Dirty water flowing out from the piles of garbage seen everywhere, rainwater, and the water dripping from the outdoor machines of air conditioners mixed together, and accumulated in unfixed potholes on the ground.

Wen Ming was wounded all over, and his face also had blood- his cheekbone got scraped by the ground’s pebbles, and was in a burning pain.

The more it was a dark alley that did not often see light, the more the ground would be full of sludge and foul smells.

He coughed with difficulty, and before he came to, his abdomen subsequently took in a heavy strike, it was that person in front who sent a leg over and kicked him

“Stinky brat, you can hide pretty well huh, big brothers here squatted for a few days, and couldn’t even find you.”

“These brothers here will teach you how to be a person today. Didn’t you like to find the police? Go! Why don’t you go?”

What was unfortunate was, all of this was just the beginning, they did not get serious yet.

It was simply that this bunch of people were quite diabolic- with a few mere punches, Wen Ming could not take it anymore, and the person was in a sorry sight not long after.

His vision already sprouted with gold stars, and his brain was all a mess. At some time, the beating stopped, and instead, were the bumbling sounds of cursing and fighting not far off concealed in the night.

Wen Ming faintly realized that there was a fight over there.

Where are those people just now?

He also remembered to run, except, the body that was beaten just now could not be moved for the while. Both his heart and body felt a spell of powerlessness, and once again feebly fell to the ground.

“Hey.”

Wen Ming opened his eyes again.

His vision was a blur, and saw on the road, two long legs were walking, gradually getting close. The sound of footsteps came all the way to the side of his face.

Very close. The tip of the shoe was pretty much about to touch his cheek.

Even after just finishing a fight, that cigarette held in Jiang Rui’s mouth did not get affected at all. He stood still by Wen Ming’s head, and crouched down.

Those fellows just now that were beating [him] up seemed to not be here anymore. Wen Ming could not hear their voices.

He could feel the gaze of the person who came fell onto him. A voice fell down from the top of his head, and curiously asked him, “You dead yet?”

This voice…… Cold sweat instantly came out from Wen Ming- it was that wolf.

The more it was this kind of time, the more his brain came out with some useless thoughts. Right now, Wen Ming’s brain was all: The slaughterer returns in the night, with all the meat sold[1].

Just now, he hit his head, and after the fist hit his body, all his organs were burning awfully. Wen Ming did not feel much ease, but only felt his entire throat slowly rising with a taste of iron.

Wen Ming did not recover his strength yet. He could not answer.

Before waiting for his response, Jiang Rui grabbed his hair, and directly lifted up Wen Ming’s blood-stained head to look.

With Jiang Rui’s height, his framework was also quite big, and one single hand was much broader than a normal person’s.

Even a basketball seemed small in his hands, Wen Ming’s head was the same as well.

Wen Ming who was on the floor was forced to lift his head up, and powerlessly revealed a portion of his neck of fair skin and tender flesh.

Jiang Rui who was on the top did not make a sound, and he tilted his head.

Wen Ming could not see his gaze, and only gripped his fist tight in the dark.

He bitterly laughed inside. It was also now that he realized this person probably did not come to save him, but to intercept, and take revenge on him for calling the police that day.

Ashes from the cigarette in Jiang Rui’s mouth fell, and a bit of heat drifted onto Wen Ming’s face, making him close his eyes.

As expected, they bore a grudge.

Wen Ming gasped for breath, and thought to himself, how big of a chance at escaping he had right now.

And Jiang Rui on the other hand already thought to one question while smoking. Is rabbit neck delicious?

Never ate it before.

He thought to those rabbits people fed in cages. He only thought of it too- he did not have any carrots on hand.

The methods Jiang Rui used to humiliate people with and those people’s [methods] just now did not have much of a difference in Wen Ming’s eyes. [Wen Ming] didn’t know where he found the interest, but [Jiang Rui] took the cigarette from his mouth, and poked the cigarette right by Wen Ming’s lips.

This person called out to him like feeding a small animal, “Hey, bunny, eat.”

Where did the bloodied Wen Ming have the strength to play a feeding game with him. He took short breaths as he waited for his strength to recover while trying to think of a countermeasure with his all.

A moist cigarette butt poked at his slightly shivering lower lip, with the surface seeming to carry a bit of warmth- it was the temperature of Jiang Rui’s lips.

Jiang Rui did not care if he any strength to hold it in his mouth, and with a bit of force, the cigarette that was still in his mouth in the last second was then shoved in between Wen Ming’s lips.

With this look of Wen Ming’s, it was obvious he had never held a cigarette in his mouth before. Not a moment later, he instead suffocated from the cigarette smoke and started violently coughing, and the humid stench from the ground was then poured inside his mouth.

Jiang Rui crouched there and watched him cough just like that.

The half a cigarette that he just bit was still burning on the ground by Wen Ming’s face, dimly emitting a orange-red light.

As though seeing how Wen Ming was half-dead without much reaction, he seemed to have gradually lost interest in this stale rabbit.

Jiang Rui propped up his chin, and pondered if he should go.

Cold-cut rabbit, griddled rabbit, barbecue rabbit thigh.

Jiang Rui counted dishes one by one, and in that moment he was about to get up, his eyes caught a glance of something, and was drawn in once again. He crouched back down.

Wen Ming who was lying on the moist ground suddenly shivered, and did not manage to dodge—— Jiang Rui, he, was actually touching his leg!

Jiang Rui’s hands were big, so one hand easily grabbed onto Wen Ming’s suited thigh, enclosed it within, and groped it.

Good thigh.

A delicious rabbit thigh is a good thigh.

Jiang Rui’s palm was lukewarm, still closing in on his thigh and not letting go, thus, that leg of Wen Ming’s could not even move one bit. And yet, that guilty hand did not have the intention of stopping, and even moved towards a worse place.

Wen Ming widened his eyes in a panic, and in the next second, his facial colour rapidly turned red.

The big hand with distinctive bones spread open its fingers, and gathered at a furry white tail that appeared at some time ago on Wen Ming’s caudal bone.

Once Wen Ming perceived his actions, his face swelled completely red. He seemed like he got pinched at an Achilles heel, falling back to the ground powerlessly, but still attempted to stop this person, “Don’t! ……”

Jiang Rui pulled out that entire giant ball of fluff from his suit pants.

Wen Ming could not help but gasp more intensely, all because he was driven mad.

Due to his emotions being agitated, he felt like all the organs in his body went in pain along with it. He could not tell apart Jiang Rui’s gaze at this time, and the only remaining thought was that he should immediately pounce and bite at this wolf, and just perish altogether.

When rabbits got irritated, they would really bite people.

Once the rabbit tail with extremely thick and plump fur was grabbed, it shrunk in his hands while shivering.

After a good while, Jiang Rui who was on top finally had a reaction.

He said, “Damn.”

With his tone all emotional.

He simply grabbed that shocking ball of a rabbit tail, not willing to let go.

Just when Wen Ming could not bear with such disgrace, and finally wanted to jump up to bite at him, a rough, thick voice suddenly resounded from Jiang Rui’s back:

“Jiang Rui, I’m finished on this side!”

Big Bear was walking over here. The instant he yelled out, the two came to their senses.

Jiang Rui responded back, and finally released that guilty hand on Wen Ming’s tail.

The big rabbit on the ground became so angry from his series of actions just now, he turned even more half-dead. Wen Ming felt his blood surge up, and at the same time, his vision went black.

Jiang Rui looked at Wen Ming’s body- his clothes were all dirty and tattered. He removed his own school jacket, wrapped it casually on the person, then carried Wen Ming sideways, and stood up with him.

Wen Ming’s body felt weightless for an instant. Before he completely lost consciousness, the last words he heard was the big bear’s voice roughly speaking, “Jiang Rui, your tail’s out……”

And then, there was no more sound.

Wen Ming fainted.

[1] … leaving only the bones. On the way back, the slaughterer met with two wolves, following him closely from a very far distance. I feel the moral of the story is irrelevant, other than how it describes that the slaughterer was in a pinch with wolves.
