Glancing at my phone, I could see that it was my mother calling. I hadn't talked to her in months after I left home. Thinking that it must be something serious, I answered the phone to her frantic voice. "Where are you," she asked. Responding with a "why," she demanded, "just tell me where you are." "I'm at Emilia's place," I stated. "Okay, I'm sending Hunter to come to get you," she said. Immediately I said, "there's no need for that." I definitely didn't need him knowing where I was. "Nonsense, he's your fiance, he should come to get you," she said. Fiance? I was astonished, he'd never even proposed to me. "Mom, you should know that we've already broken up. Besides, why should I need to be picked up, I'm fine at Emilia's," I said bewildered. "Yeah, I know you've gotten into a little disagreement, your sister told me all about it, but if it's going to work, you have to learn to forgive," she stated. "That's exactly it mom, I can't forgive him. Not after what he did, and how he treated me when he…" As I trailed on, she cut me off to say, "listen to me Mina, you left this house for independence, but you fail to realize that you will always need someone. And I'm sure Emilia's probably sick of you burdening her, so you might as well come back to someone who isn't. Stop making a big deal out of this and learn to agree to disagree. Otherwise, you'll never please a man. Gracious, I'm still wondering what Hunter saw in you, to make him get down on one knee. Anyways I'll send him the address to come get you," she quickly said as she hung up, leaving no room for me to interject. "Ugh Mom," I screamed. She didn't hear what I had to say, or more like she didn't care. Although, it was quite strange that she oh so suddenly became Hunter's fan overnight. I could have sworn she disliked me. What had he'd done to appease her so much, that my hand has been offered in marriage and does father know, I wondered. Does Claire know, I mean she did just steal him away from me, sickeningly it would seem more normal to hear that she'd want to marry him. Then those two lying backstabbing demons could have their happy ever after and let me live in peace. Well barely, I'd still have this huge debt to pay off. It's like one thing after the next. I want my peaceful life to return. But, there's no time to stress over that, my current situation is to cut off the chain that Hunter has me bound to. I need to find a way for him to call off this unagreeable marriage. Honestly, I don't know what to expect when I see him, we didn't leave on the best terms. I shuddered at memories. I didn't want to see him, let alone sit in a car with him. However, I remembered that I didn't have to be when I had a very reliable neighbor. The real question was, would he be willing to help me again?
