Boruto - Naruto Generations

Chapter 16 - The Game starts

"Very Simple, Winner can ask the other to do something that they cannot say to, and obviously the request will be as reasonable as possible," Boruto said.

("Looks like that's the plan he has had for a long time! Cha! This one is in the bag,") Sakura thought as she grinned to herself.

"Hmph, What makes you think you will win today? Is it because you have Sakura's support?" Sasuke asked seeing Sakura next to Naruto.

"Oh?" Kiba was also interested in the event.

*Bow!* at this moment Akamaru barked.

"What is it boy? You want to help Naruto?" Kiba asked.

"Aww," Akamaru shook his head.

"Oh, you wanna bet who will win?" Kiba asked.

"Bow!" Akamaru barked in agreement.

"Ehh, This is a bit unexpected…" Kiba thought as he looked over to where Naruto stood.

"What a drag…" Shikamaru showed up with Chōji in tow.

"Yo Naruto!" Chōji called out.

"Shikamaru, Chōji," Boruto acknowledged their arrival.

"I really wanted to sit this one out, but I guess I'll have to tag along this time…" Shikamaru shook his head.

"Don't forget me," a voice interrupted from above.

"Shino-s" ("Crap, I almost called him sensei…") Boruto was surprised to see Shino standing on the branch of a tree nearby.

"You don't mind me joining the team right?" Shino asked.

"Of course not," Boruto smiled.

"Ah, this is what you two were up to!" A dissatisfied voice boomed.

"Ino-Pig!" Sakura reacted.

"Not bad for a team, but I still think Sasuke will win," Ino said confidently. .

"Yeah, yeah!" A few other girls in the background also voiced out in support of Ino's statement.

"We'll know when the time comes," Sakura argued.

"…"

"N-Naruto-kun," At this moment, a feeble voice was heard.

"…" ("Ah it's mom!!") Boruto was caught off guard with this development.

"I-I want to help. Can I… join as well?" Hinata asked.

"Okaaa-y, Hinata," Boruto almost called Hinata his mom out of the blue, but managed to prevent that from happening.

"Hinata in their team? Hey that's super cheating, Haven't they already got Shino with his bugs?" A boy argued.

"Now, now, The Forest is big enough for everyone, As you are aware, the forest has a 2km radius. Plenty of space to move around, and hide even from the Byakugan," Iruka said.

"Not fair," A few people were unwilling to enter the forest this time around.

Iruka sighed in defeat

"All right, people who don't want to participate are free to excuse themselves," Iruka said in a dejected manner.

"Thanks-sensei!" A few people immediately headed for the exit.

"But those who leave will have double homework," Iruka stated causing people to freeze. In the end they could only give up and join the game instead.

"Hope you all rot in hell," one of the people who were angry cursed as they walked past Naruto.

"Um… ok…" Boruto shook his head towards their attitude.

"So How does the rules work?" Suddenly a person spoke up.

"Kiba!" Boruto called out after recognising who asked the question.

"Simple, all of you will head into the forest and hide yourselves well. You will not be following people into their hiding spots except for those who are already a team. After ten minutes, you may start seeking each other out. As a warning, those who have made arrangements beforehand to betray the locations of their teammates are instantly disqualified, however the game will continue on with a mock battle. People who win or draw out the battle to escape successfully will win, and those who are captured will be failed." Iruka explained.

"…" The class silently acknowledged the rules.

"Use your surroundings to their fullest potential, be it forging a trap or covering your tracks, or using trees to help in executing a technique or even catching onto your enemies tracks. Anything works. As usual, only light injuries will be tolerated! No fatal injuries! That's all," Iruka concluded following which he turned towards Boruto.

"Naruto, I take it this is your Six-man team?" Iruka asked seeing Sakura, Shino, Shikamaru, Chōji and Hinata.

"That's right Iruka-sensei," Boruto said, with others nodding behind him in Acknowledgement.

"And Sasuke," Iruka turned towards Sasuke who stood apart from the crowd with a few girls behind him.

"Heyy, Sasuke-kunn, Can I join your team?" At this moment a girl approached him with a pleasant voice.

"Ino," Sasuke looked towards the Blonde Haired long Ponytailed girl approaching him with a friendly look.

"What do you say?" Ino asked with a pleasant smile.

"Sorry, I prefer to work alone," Sasuke coolly declined.

"Now, now, You need to reconsider your situation man," Sasuke heard another opinion.

"What does it have to do with you, Kiba?" Sasuke asked, seeing Kiba going out of his way to persuade Sasuke.

"You've got a very interesting competition here. Also, you know that I have always been the top in this game, so why not let me in, seeing the odds are against you?" Kiba asked.

"Bow!" Akamaru barked in approval sitting on Kiba's head.

"…" Sasuke stared silently while also taking a side-way glance at Naruto's Team.

"You go on about others holding you back, but you know how strong I am when it comes to this game right?" Kiba asked.

"Hmph, You do have a point," Sasuke responded.

"So, Team?" Kiba asked.

"…"

"Ok," Sasuke agreed to Kiba's proposal.

"… So I take it that you and Kiba are a team?" Iruka asked.

"…Yes," Sasuke answered, causing Ino who wanted to join Sasuke's team so badly to turn away dejectedly. As Ino walked away from Sasuke, past Boruto's team she took a look at Sakura, who also noticed her back.

"This isn't over yet," Ino declared heading towards the entrance of the forest.

"Hmph, Watch as I win Ino-Pig!" Sakura declared and stuck her tongue out to provoke Ino even more.

"Ugh!" Ino quickly left the scene.

"…Um.. W-Will Yamanaka-san be ok?" Hinata asked in a feeble voice.

"Don't Worry, Hinata. She's always like that," Sakura responded.

"…" Hinata was a bit concerned.

"After I count down, you have ten minutes to hide. Use this time well," Iruka advised.

"Yes-sensei," The class nodded.

"All Right then, 3…2…"

"1…" As Iruka counted Boruto and Sasuke glanced at each other, not to mention Kiba as well.

"GO!" Iruka shouted, following which the teams shot through the gate.

"Let's Go Akamaru!" Kiba shouted excitedly, having Akamaru who was finally out of the hoodie and on the ground, jump right after him, across trees.

"Hey Sasuke, You better not hold us Back!" Kiba shouted as he turned back to see if Sasuke was keeping up with him.

"Hmph!" Sasuke smirked and instantly caught up with the two, heading deep into the forest.

Boruto seeing how excited his competition were also wanted to have his teammates share a similar level of enthusiasm.

"Sorry Naruto, I prefer to follow a steady pace for now," Shikamaru instantly drowned Boruto's hopes.

"It's all right, Dattebasa!" Boruto replied.

"Shikamaru," a pleasant voice called out.

"Hm?" Shikamaru turned around only to see Sakura calling out to him.

("What the…") Shikamaru was caught off seeing Sakura's weird smile.

"We will win this, OK?" Sakura asked in a chilling yet warm smile.

"Uh…Yes!" Shikamaru was kinda forced into being less lazy after his earlier remark, causing most of the team to shudder after seeing Shikamaru's movements with renewed vigour.

"Let's not get Outdone by those two!" Boruto took the lead.

"Yes!" The team moved with unison.

About ten minutes had passed and the teams were settled in.

Anyone could choose to hide or be the hunter from that moment on, but this time, Boruto's team seemed to be full of hunters leaving the others to consider their only probable option of hiding.

In a particular part of the forest full of trees, a group of six people stood at the base of a single tree.

"Shino, What's the situation?" Boruto asked.

The team looked at Shino who was surrounded by a few flying bugs within his proximity for answers.

"Say, Naruto when did you get close with Shino?" Shikamaru suddenly asked in a low voice approaching beside Naruto.

"Just recently, We haven't really spoken much yet, But he's a pretty good guy, Dattebasa" Boruto replied.

"…" Shikamaru could only silently acknowledge the changes that happened around Naruto in the past few days, as strange as it seemed, it wasn't impossible to have befriended Shino.

"Say, what's the deal with his bugs?" Sakura asked all of a sudden, being clueless on Shino's abilities.

"Haven't you heard of the Aburame clan?" Shikamaru asked.

"The Aburame clan, I'm only aware that they control bugs, Nothing more…" Sakura replied.

"The Aburame clan uses insects and their abilities to battle their enemies. The bugs can be of various types In exchange for the bugs ability to be used in battle, they store them within their body, feeding them their chakra" Chōji explained.

"That's not all, their abilities also depends on the bugs they control, from poisonous ones to different types that can be used for battle and medicinal purposes," Shikamaru explained.

"I see…" Sakura stared in shock at Shino.

"…Hm?" Shino raised an eyebrow.

"What's wrong?" Boruto asked.

"…"

"They've done it again…" Shino murmured.

In another part of the forest,

"Yahoo!! Atta-boy!"

"Bow!" Akamaru barked excitedly running towards Kiba.

"You are praising him for peeing?" Sasuke asked.

"Heh, I see you are uneducated when it comes to surviving in the forest," Kiba calm stated as he raised Akamaru upto his head to fit him under his hoodie.

"What do you mean?" Sasuke asked.

"I've made him mark territories," Kiba said as he pointed towards the wet spots around the scene they were in.

"I've been making him do that in different places, so Shino cannot use his bugs to pin-point onto our location," Kiba explained.

"Yeah, His bugs have been pretty hard to deal with, as they are also capable of locking on to enemy scents. Explains why he's amongst the top with me in this game," Kiba explained.

"I see," Sasuke was surprised.

("The Only reason I've made it to being amongst the top is always because I either took care of my opponents or managed to hide out till the end, Speaking of which, I never had to face Shino or Kiba,") Sasuke thought as he reevaluated Kiba.

"You done preparing some traps?" Kiba asked.

"Who do you think you are talking to?" Sasuke asked as he raised some bȧrėly visible threads that seemed to have been connected to some kind of mechanism from the amount of strain they had.

"Hehe," Kiba grinned.
